Hot and humid here in Houston, although it was cooler all day than it has been the rest of the week. High in the 80s, and overcast all day had me cutting the grass at 5pm without breaking a sweat. Today should be similar.
Spent yesterday not getting stuff done. I got some stuff done. Cleaned up some stuff around the house, put some shelves in the attic and moved stuff up there. Sorted some other stuff. Added to the pile of stuff going to the BOL this weekend.
And today I’ll add more stuff to the pile. And I’ll load stuff in my truck, because I’m headed up there later. Taking D1 with me too and gonna get at least 2 pickups done on the way. Wife to follow later with D2.
We’ll do some work and some play. The local celebrations are focused around our place, so we should meet whichever neighbors we haven’t met yet… yea meatspace! Should be a good time.
Taking more preps up with me, some additional medical, some food, and some other PPEs and general supplies. Takes a bunch of stuff to equip a new place.

Merely extending an invitation is not the same as being forced to testify. If the committee was really serious then the subpoenas would have been issued.
I suspect that the secret service agents as part of their protocol, their job description, is to say nothing to anyone, including a congressional committee is not allowed unless a legally processed subpoena has been served. I would never, ever, voluntarily speak to any congressional hearing on any matter. I will not voluntarily speak to any federal agent. I suspect secret service agents feel the same way.
I stand by my statements. Hearsay is not allowed in court. The congressional committee allows hearsay. The secret service agents are not actively being sought by the committee.

I finally watched last weeks episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. What a piece of absolute dreck. Poorly acted, melodramatic, sort of a period piece fantasy, with a dash of lesbianism thrown in. The actor who portrays the ships doctor sucks and his accent makes it hard to even understand him. But, he’s Amish!!! Anson Mount’s and Rebecca Romjin’s performances seemed “phoned” in and over acted. The woman who plays Nurse Chapel isn’t that good. Plus, she has these weird disproportionate arms with scars on one of them. Please don’t expose them anymore.

I apparently was not clear about my plans. I am considering substituting the antenna link for the buried cable. The cost of the buried cable is high compared to antennas.
I have wifi in the house and want to extend it or add a second one in the shop. The eves of the house and shop will protect the antennas from direct rain fall. The line of sight is clear and almost exactly 200 feet.
I want to minimize fussing with the “network” once it is up which suggests cable. Price suggests antennas.
@bob, for the money, look at a pair of NanoBeam Loco M2 or M5s to make the link between the house and the shop. With ubiquiti, you are always better off with their PoE injector too, as some of their gear won’t work with standard injectors, so buy the “kit” that includes the injector.
If your existing wifi is new enough to have a mesh network option, then you might be able to just add a compatible access point in the shop and have it link back to the house thru its mesh capability. But if not, Nanobeam is the way to go.

IIRC the LEAF 120 volt charger draws 13 amps. The NEC requires a dedicated circuit for charging an EV.

Back to NanoBeams… By pipe it’s about 280 feet from here in the house to the EDC. I ran Ethernet because I had a PC out there and because it was a cool thing to do in 1993 or 1994.
How deep does a DitchWitch dig? At least arm pit deep pushing three feet. Over the years nearby lighting storms caused problems.
I’m still not a fan of the t-storm that zapped my router, the hub, and the network card in the PC.
In the house I lost an Intel Print-server, my HP895Cxi printer, and the network card in two PCs. And another hub. The Xerox color laser went wonky enough that I thought it was toast. I gave it another try a couple of weeks later before taking it to the trash and it was fine. Kind of wonky but it would print.
After a few more years of lightning storms, I think the accumulated voltage surges finally made the Ethernet fail. I had three pulls in the pipe and I had no luck picking around to find two good pair that actually worked faster than a 14.4 modem.
So, I can pull new wire. The downside is “lotta work” and doesn’t cure the lighting problem. On the plus side, a 1000 ft spool of CAT5 was about 35¢ a foot. Which beats (by memory) the same was almost $1000 in 1993/4.
I bought a couple of NanoBeams from Amazon for $90 each. 2016. They came with power supplies. They were easy enough to configure before mounting. I assigned their IP addresses. They are in bridge mode. I had a real sneaker net because an old pair of shoes was handy to set them in. Then after having one on the bed and one in the EDC, yeah, no need to do more than build a thing to mount them on. Old sneakers, not worn out…. After playing with them I’ve never looked at the lights. Their web interface has an aiming tool that seems to work. I just eyeballed it. The one in the house is on top of a bookcase. The other is on a window sill. Works well enough that I didn’t see the need to drill holes in the wall to mount outside.
After some recent tree clearing they are connected at 450 to 550 Mbps. Faster than my switches.
I’m pretty sure you can use a NanoBeam to blast wi-fi to your shop. I bought them to replace a failed Ethernet run. As for wi-fi in the house, I have a Unifi and another in the feedshed doing the mesh thing. I don’t remember how to configure them. Solid as Sears. Thinking about it, I can store the Unifi in the feedshed since the travel trailer is gone. I’ll get right on that someday.

I have 3 UniFi AP’s. The controller software is a little funky, but the AP’s themselves have been rock solid. The only issue I’ve had is having to reset the AP’s to default when I redid my desktop. I had a backup of the controller confit, but I couldn’t get it to import. It was easier to just start over than mess with it for hours,

A quick review showes that the NYC incidents were variously reported both ways, including a Guardian article that used both terms.
There may also be some conflation with some other mass tire slashing incidents in NYC.
This group has used a “slow deflation” technique in some actions in Great Britain, employing a small legume lodged under the tire valve cap to bring about a slow deflation over time. I would point out that such a practice could easily and predictably result in a severely underinflated tire catastrophically separating from the wheel rim during a turn at legal speed, with injuries and death resulting which would qualify as murder or manslaughter.

In cases where jurisdictions have been hostile to voting rights of minorities, the federal government has imposed, through the courts, a requirement that any modification of existing laws receive prior approval from the courts.
Such requirements have been imposed for decades.
Inasmuch as New York has just been freed from a century of unconstitutional limitations under the racist Sullivan Act, and the Democrat legislature has just served up another law that will not stand, would it not be appropriate to inhibit such behavior in the future by including, as part of the dismantling of the latest constitutional violation, a similar requirement for court review?
Please note that there has been a cynical expectation openly discussed that this new carp will be in force for years before being struck down, as SCOTUS has been reluctant in the past to take up 2A litigation more than once in a multiple blue moon.
ADDED: California should be similarly treated.

The lake is down about 1 foot, despite the watershed getting some rain today, and earlier in the week. It’s not completely unusual to have a lower level this time of year, but not typically this low. Or so I’m told. I think everyone but the actual Gulf Coast needs some rain. Certainly the western states do.

New York State will probably take a decade or two before they issue the new CCW rules. The legislature will have to form a few committees and study the issue in depth.
My question is, will New York State honor my Texas LTC (License To Carry) ? If not, why not ? Many other states honor my LTC. All of the states honor my driver’s license. How is a CCW different ?
Of course, no other states honor my PE (Professional Engineers License) from the Great State of Texas. I am registered in Texas, since 1989. To work as an engineer in any other state, I must be registered in that state also, following their rules, taking their tests, etc.
