Thur. April 8, 2021 – things are coming to another head

Wet and cooler, or possibly wet and warm. But probably wet.

Wednesday was mostly overcast with bits of sun poking through every now and then. The light rain started late, 10pm or later, and was really just a heavy mist. And it was still 68F so pretty dank.

Mostly did housework, then got the youngest from school. Did my auction pickup with her riding along. She was not amused. I got some fishing gear, and another propane camp stove, and a bunch of ebay stuff that sells well, but only in spurts. Been a bit slow lately but it won’t spoil and doesn’t take too much space. It will sell later.

Got a quote back from the electrician. He’ll install the transfer switch for $450 but doesn’t want anything to do with the gennie. That’s fine, I’ll get a plumber to do the gas, and I’ll do the hookup once the switch is in place. I won’t have to do anything live, or inside my panelboard that way. Just need to find the time and schedule him.

Today should be more of the same, especially if it’s raining. Plenty to do indoors.

And I’m getting anxious again. Biden is going to try his luck with Executive Orders that infringe the right to keep and bear arms. Weird stuff is going on in world finance. It’s possible that the MN cop won’t get railroaded, but there will certainly be riots either way. People are starting to talk about inflation the same way they have started to talk about Civil War- both seem increasingly inevitable. The chinaflu lockdown only suppressed and delayed those things, while also exacerbating them. When the tinder lights, it’s going to get really ugly, really fast. People will surely say “It happened so suddenly, it came out of nowhere” and for them, it will have. For the rest of us though, it’s been coming for a long time.

Thoughts like these make me want to stack all the things.

n

(I had a thought today- if you were watching this, and prepping through it for the last year, and LIVING actively and consciously, you probably lost weight or stayed even for the last year. If you were just sitting idle, waiting for the all clear, pissed that your tinder matches are all disappointments, you probably gained weight. I’d be interested to see the ant vs grasshopper distribution on gaining or losing weight….)

    Hi Nick

Actively continued to prep. Lost 10 lbs but gained it back in the winter. Pretty much was ready for Wuflu. Thing I forgot to stack: eyecup to wash out eyes. Almost had to take a trip to emergency room. Most surprising useful thing I stacked: plastic grocery bags. No shopping meant the inflow of bags stopped and the bags are needed for bathroom trash and many other uses.

–great observation. I had even read articles about bag bans affecting the homeless, because they use them for sh!tting in, but hadn’t made the connection to my own use. I’ve got a big stash but it did get drawn down a bit.

As backup, I bought a box of 500 kirkland wastebasket liners (10 gal, clear) to use as toilet liners if needed. I have pulled a few of those for various uses over the year because they are a bit bigger then the grocery bags but not as big as the kitchen trash bags I use for most of the household trash (and as liners for my bucket toilet.) Plus, they are cheap $11/500.

More than 600 people’s appointments at a ‘Vaccines for All’ event at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City were cancelled on Wednesday when the clinic was forced to close at around 3.30pm. Centura Health, which sponsored the event, said 11 people had adverse reactions such as nausea and dizziness in the on-site observation area minutes after receiving their Johnson & Johnson shot. Two of those people were transported to a hospital for additional monitoring, while the nine others were treated with water and juice.

–very strange for it to cluster like that. Those were my symptoms too, but it took much longer for the onset.

MAGA rioter, 34, who was fatally trampled in the Capitol mob actually died of acute amphetamine intoxication, medical examiner says

Roseanne Boyland, 34, was among four Donald Trump fans killed during the violent insurrection on January 6
The DC medical examiner’s office confirmed Wednesday that Boyland died of a drug overdose and that the manner of her death was an accident
Boyland was seen earlier January 6 carrying a Gadsden flag around DC
Graphic bodycam footage obtained by DailyMail.com in January showed fellow rioters trampling over her to attack Capitol cops as her friend screamed for help
Medical examiner also confirmed cause and manner of death for 3 other rioters
Ashli Babbitt, 35, died from gunshot wound to the left anterior shoulder.
Kevin Greeson, 55, and Benjamin Phillips, 50, both died of heart failure rather than injuries sustained in the insurrection
But Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s cause and manner of death is still ‘pending’ – three months after he was killed in the line of duty
Wednesday marks 90 days since Sicknick, 42, died with his death still a mystery

–and the guy who killed Ashli Babbitt STILL hasn’t been named. Nothing at all strange about that, right?

    n

–and the article is full of gaslighting and ‘positioning’ statements and word choices, like “insurrection” instead of “protest”.

We’ve used these trashcans for years relying on a steady supply of plastic grocery bags. With most of our shopping for the past year either curbside pickup or delivery we still were able to maintain a supply of bags until our primary sources (Fry’s and Target) switched to new bags that are larger and differently shaped to better accommodate delivery. I see I can get the old-style bags on Ebay for $20/1000.

–No amendment is absolute. F Me. The language in the 2A is pretty simple and clear. When the authors of the amendments wanted exceptions they wrote them in.

–changes to arm braces- DECREASES ACCURACY. That’s slow joe’s goal.

–serial #s on ‘scary guns’ – allows tracing AFTER THE FACT, does nothing to stop or slow or anything else, the use of the gun, but serial number tracing REQUIRES registration of the serial and databases. It requires licensing whoever issues the number.

–once again, dems don’t want to lock up criminals, they want alternatives. LOCK UP THE BAD GUYS, FFS. Leave the good guys alone.

–red flag laws are evil, pure and simple, in their application as well as their creation because they presume to know what a person will do in the future, they then act on that presumption to deny the person his rights, and they provide a weapon for spiteful and angry people.

    n

–added- and we don’t have a “gun” violence epidemic, we have a “gang” violence epidemic, and MORE SPECIFICALLY an epidemic of violence among BLACK MALES.

That is the whole ProgLibTurd schtick. The US Constitution is a “living document” so it’s meaning changes. You can only own gubs that were in existence at the signing. When you throw the internet/email/phones at them: “That’s different!”

The other four nations are the United Kingdom (UK), the Netherlands, Italy, and Norway. For a plane with a lot of reputed problems, people sure are buying a lot of them. Of course, the F-35 is replacing a lot of 30+ year old F-16s.

I’ve always suspected that US foreign policy is designed in such a way as to manipulate Israel into doing our dirty work for us. That way we can condemn them publicly while praising them privately.

I wonder how they are getting the F-35 from Texas to Denmark ? I guess flying it ?

They ferry them across the Atlantic with a tanker (KC-10/KC-135/KC-46).  They may swap out the CONUS tanker for one out of Europe as they get further across the pond. I don’t know if F-35s use drop tanks or not. Probably isn’t very stealthy, but for ferrying operations it would make sense.

That’s how we swap fighter squadrons in and out of the Middle East for ongoing operations in Afghanistan and elsewhere.

So they fly them across the Atlantic. Makes sense.

A friend of mine ferried his issued B-17 from the same factory in Fort Worth where the F-35 is made to London, England in 1943 ?. No tanker airplane but about a hundred 5 gallon jerry cans full of avgas in the bombbay. He and the copilot (he was pilot because he was two weeks older) flew from Fort Worth to Maine, to Greenland, to Scotland, to London. He got his crew and guns in a south London airbase and was shot down on his second trip over Germany. He was 6’3″ or 6’4″ (cannot remember today) and walked out of a German POW camp after 18 months weighing 108 lbs. He was 350 lbs when I knew him in the 1980s, had vowed to never be hungry ever again. Super smart engineer, he taught me a lot of practical knowledge.

The Supreme Court has largely shied away from taking up gun rights disputes since its 2008 decision in Heller v. District of Columbia, in which the Supreme Court ruled the Second Amendment protects the right to have guns in the home for self-defense, and the 2010 case McDonald v. Chicago, in which the justices ruled the Second Amendment right to bear arms applies to the states.

The reluctance of the justices to take on such a politically fraught issue prompted Thomas to rebuke his colleagues in 2018. Thomas wrote in a dissent after the court rejected a challenge to California firearms law that his fellow justices have made the Second Amendment a “disfavored right” and the Supreme Court’s “constitutional orphan.”

Biden fumbled statements on background checks at gun shows
