79F and 89%RH, windy and overcast. Boy it got HOT yesterday. I was literally sweating gallons. I think I’m back to balanced as I’m peeing, but dang was it hot. I even got a bit of a sunburn on back of my neck, and face. Guess I’m a redneck today.
Late getting the post up today because my phone (which I use for an alarm) had a bunch of settings changed. When I am soaked in sweat, and the phone is in my pocket moving around, the touchscreen gets activated and eventually the gesture password gets “picked” and the phone unlocks. After that, all the jiggling navigates through the phone, often getting to settings WAY down in menus. This phone is a Galaxy 7, but my old Moto did it too. And this is despite the “don’t turn on in a pocket” setting, and the gesture being sorta complex.
Yesterday my backlight got turned to O, so I should have taken a look at my other settings too. Didn’t, so I got up half an hour late. This led to a scramble to get the family out the door on time. Normally I wake up a little bit before the alarm anyway, but I was up late reading and was exhausted from working out in the sun.
I got some stuff done yesterday, and have more on the list for today…

Stent is out. Interesting process.
An anesthetic is injected in the urethra opening, a gel of some kind, then left to soak in for lack of a better term. Then a tube scope is inserted followed by some thin black tube. A sharp pain in the bladder as the stent is detached from the bladder and another sharp pain as the stent is detached from the kidney. Then the stent and tube are extracted. In the process water is injected for some reason thus lots of leakage. The actual extraction was barely noticed. Stent was bigger than I thought.

Thanks for posting about your “stones”, Ray. Fascinating what medicine has accomplished. I don’t know of any kidney stone issues in my family, which eats a lot of protein and salt. Minimum orange products for me, though. Maybe that is my savior.

Yes, that is incredibly true. I experienced that last year as I crawled from the gurney to the operating table naked as a jaybird in front of ten people. I also experienced it again when I woke up in recovery and a lady (OR nurse) was holding two of my groin incisions closed for 20 minutes before she taped them up. I mentioned to her that she had an extremely tight grip on my inner thigh (I yelled ow !) and she said yes, that she had to hold it closed for 20 minutes before taping. I went back to sleep thankfully.

Regarding the concern yesterday about dead links.
The link in question was on the home page of the site, even though there is mention of where the current ‘journal’ pages are on that page.
So I created a new 404 page (the old one wasn’t working correctly). There may be some invalid links on the site home page, and probably within old (pre-WordPress) journal entries, but the new 404 page should help get people to the proper page. It also includes a mailto link if they want to email me.

Today had a rough few hours. Severe stomach cramps from antibiotics, organ stress from stent removal, or Taco Bell. Crawled in bed for four hours and slept two of those. Urinating hurts from, looking at the size of tube, there was more extreme stretching. I expect that to go away in a couple of days.
I don’t get embarrassed in medical situations anymore. I am too old to be concerned. I got nothing the people involved haven’t seen hundreds of times. Except for the one nurse who asked if I had been circumcised. I just replied, yep, old age shrinkage.

Apple has been a consumer products company for a long time now. All of those products happen to be computers also. Tesla has a large computer in it (at least three as required by law) so it will fit right in.

My only concern or thought or regret regarding apple is that I didn’t buy appl every time it got down to 16 and sell every time it got up to 32. There is clearly a market for their products, and like the future, it was easier to CREATE the market than predict it.

Greg, just curious how much it costs to have a non user replaceable phone battery replaced. My next phone will almost certainly not have a user replaceable battery, a first for me. I like carrying a couple of inexpensive spares, and always wanted hot swap. That would be easy, but the manufacturers don’t listen to me. Instead, we get a step backwards.

I believe we paid $50 for my wife’s iPhone 6 battery replacement. Apple is keeping it reasonable because they got caught throttling the data rates to preserve battery life.
The phones are too thin/large for user-replaceable batteries. Above 5 inches, having that feature would make for a very fragile phone.
Motorola still sells the E4 which can swap out batteries easily. The phone is a little behind the curve but still works well and receives security updates for now.
I replaced the battery on my Samsung galaxy 5S the other day after about 4? 5? Years of usage. $11 for the battery on Amazon.
