Sat. Mar. 30, 2019 – travel day, lost post

By on March 30th, 2019 in Random Stuff

The forecast rain finally arrived last night.

I had a post, typed out laboriously on this tablet, one finger at a time… and somehow it got lost.

So, I’m traveling all afternoon, didn’t get any preps done, and went to a funeral.

How about you?

    @Jenny,

I’m in Huntington Beach, about 9 miles south of La Palma.

If you are still in Chicago, try to hit the SNL exhibit at the Museum of Broadcast Communications. The show was extended but closes on 3/31.

This brings back memories of the discussions here. Bump stocks and boats

My long and tedius post was kind of maudlin so maybe it’s better it vanished. I went ahead and got out my BT keyboard as I have an hour or two before departure.

Maybe longer if you are on United out of O’Scare.

Last Sunday, our flight to Austin had the gate changed three times, and the plane departed the gate 45 minutes after the scheduled time.

My son has his first soccer gem of the season this afternoon. Hopefully the rain holds off.

I’m building a coffee table and end table for the living room. Walnut top. We have a local guy who runs his own mill. Wonderful selection of wood and fair prices. I have the tops finished and are ready for finishing. I’m working on a scrap piece first to test. Sand with 120 then 220 grit. Then wet sanded with a dark danish oil. Let sit for 10 minutes, wipe off excess, let dry for 24 hours, and repeat. This morning, I sanded with 320 grit, vacuum, then wipe with tack cloth. I’ve applied 2 coats of shellac. This afternoon, I’ll sand again with 320 grit, and apply a couple coats of lacquer. If I like the result, I’ll start on the tops tomorrow. The legs will either be metal or wood. Leaning towards metal. The wife has picked out several she likes – just need to make a decision and order them.

Lots of walnut trees in the area north of Yuba City/Marysville CA. Many old trees have been uprooted to make room for new trees. Lots of them laying down in the fields.

Don’t know what they do with the old trees. Hundreds of them.

Something tells me that BJ Klinton is still dropping dimes … but why?

And who doesn’t know that Biden is a handsy lech?

Anytime I see the guy, I think of the story out of Disney about 10 years ago when they had to fire “Tigger” because he was too handsy.

Well yea I guess it could happen and be creepy. One of those furry fetishes?
How handsy can you be with those cartoon gloves on? (or paws or whatever)

“Tigger’s” exact argument when he appealed to the State of Florida for unemployment.

Plugs has no excuse. And neither do the women in that story IMHO, *especially* Eva Longoria who co-chaired the Doh-bama/Plugs reelection effort in CA.

    @CowboySlim
That would be super. I’ll have a rental. I fly into San Diego on 4/30, visit with some friends, and will be in La Palma 5/3 or 5/2. You can figure out my email from my website I think.

‘Individual liberty and freedom are not outmoded concepts,’ Benitez wrote in his 86-page order as he declared the law to be unconstitutional, granting a summary judgement in favor of gun owner Virginia Duncan and the California Pistol & Rifle Association.

Benitez cited the stories of three women who were at their homes in Florida and Georgia and were shot by gun-weilding intruders who broke into their homes.

He suggested that the women were unable to stop the assailants because they had lower capacity guns to defend themselves.

Home safe. Left a tiny bit late, but not bad for an Ohare that had rain and t-storms overnight.

Lots of turbulence during the flight. Windy with regional rain here in TX.

    It’s good to be home.

The cold front came through about 3pm. The wind was gusting to 30+ mph. The temperature has dropped from 74 F to 59 F in the five hours since then.

Peace through superior firepower. I am down with that.

“Border Patrol officials were on pace in March for more than 100,000 apprehensions and encounters with migrants – the highest monthly tally in over a decade, he said. Around 90 percent of those – or 90,000 – crossed the border between legal ports of entry.”

Not good, not good. Trump needs to close the border.

Time to get rid of the stupid refugee / asylum law. It is totally crazy. 100,000 asylum seekers in a single month is an invasion.

We had the same thing last weekend on the ride down from O’Scare. The seat belt sign stayed on the entire flight, and the gate agents warned us to use the facilities in the terminal.

Same conference is in New Orleans next year. No flying.

Birthright citizenship has to go first. The status quo is due to an interpretation which is based on the parsing of a few words, “subject to the jurisdiction”.

The women and children caravans showing up are due to their belief that DACA will outlive Trump’s time in office. Not an unreasonable belief given Congress’ lack of testicular fortitude and the President’s aversion to “poor optics”.
