Thur. Nov.8, 2018 – still sick

By on November 8th, 2018 in Random Stuff

Slept all day yesterday. Evening was nice, we walked to dinner.

Today is supposed to be a down day as we are mostly just changing hotels again. Speaking of hotels, it s now mandatory that the guy takes out your trash daily. They come every day and take out the trash, even if you specifically tell them to stay out. He ( and unlike the normal housekeeping they are Male) came back while we were at dinner. I suspect they are monitoring the occupancy sensors. One black OP and now my hotel room gets searched every day. This is getting F-ing stupid. When I brought him the trash from the master bathroom and wouldn’t let him in there, he visibly vapor locked. It’s clear that it is not about the trash.

Big deal elections, and I don’t have anything to look at but my phone… it is painful.

If you’re overlooking the water park, it probably isn’t about the trash.

The Muslims know not to f*ck with the parks given the location of their mosque, but the garden variety domestic loon doesn’t have the same restriction.

If you’re curious, take Apopka-Vineland north from the freeway exit with Goodings and watch on the right as you head towards Windemere. The lifespan of that building would be measured in milliseconds in the event of something bad happening at the parks that gets linked back to Islamic Jihad or other similar crazies.

BTW, love or hate the place, the Goodings days are numered. My attitude is “good riddance”, but we’ve fed our kids multiple times at the Fuddruckers in the same plaza, and we hate to see the entire structure torn down for a new Disney exit.

Goodings used to be a classy supermarket with multiple locations in Orlando. Once the founder died, however, the family lost interest in doing anything other than fleecing tourists from that one location near Disney.

“”I called my wife,” Carlson told The Washington Post in a phone interview. “She had been in the kitchen alone getting ready to go to dinner and she heard pounding on the front door and screaming. … Someone started throwing himself against the front door and actually cracked the front door.””

This is what the rule by mob looks like. Pray that this does not continue in the USA. Of course, we are getting armed compounds because of this behavior elsewhere.

Nice email complimenting Trump and his eldest son from https://gunowners.org/ that I cannot find on the intertubes:

    “Trump Helps Prevent Expected Disaster

    Dear lynn,

Gun rights supporters owe a debt of gratitude to President Donald Trump and to Donald Trump, Jr., for staunching what could have been much worse news on election night.

In fact, the Trump family campaigned across the country for pro-gun, conservative candidates far more than any Republican president in recent memory.

The GOP consolidated its hold on the Senate, even though Fox had predicted that Sen. Joe Donnelly would win by 7 percent and NBC said that Sen. Claire McCaskill would win by 3 percent.

This didn’t happen because the Trumps campaigned tirelessly in places like Indiana and Missouri.

Frankly, had House Republican leaders not tried so hard to distance themselves from their base, some other Republicans might have done a little better.

We understand the formidable obstacles we all faced. Billionaires like Michael Bloomberg, George Soros and Tom Steyer spent hundreds of millions of dollars to buy the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans.

Moreover, the media provided anti-gun Democrats with billions of dollars of free publicity in their anti-Trump crusade.

But, although we expect the House to push gun bans and Gun Confiscation Orders, the pro-gun movement remains in a position to fight these insidious proposals.

We also owe a facetious word of gratitude to Chuck Schumer and the hard-core Left for showing us what governance under their crazy mob would be. The downside of their liberal “bubble” is that they have come to believe Americans share their insanity.

    They don’t.

So today-the first day of the 2020 elections-we at Gun Owners of America reaffirm our commitment to stand by those who support our rights.

The battle won’t be easy. But the Constitution is worth every drop of blood, sweat and toil that we can muster.

    In liberty,

    Tim Macy
    Chairman
    Gun Owners of America”

This is what gets the mob a “Biden” special through the front door. It also launches CWII with ProgLibTurds getting bloodied.

I doubt that most women will be willing to do that since he was not home. And, one is not allowed guns and ammo to be in the same house in DC. DC is an unconstitutional city and proud of it.

Hopefully Tucker Carlson has moved his family to a more secure location immediately.

Yup, you got it, DC. You and I would be arrested for anything. Mobs rushing a conservatives house and breaking the front door, not so much.

As I pointed out before, that’s been the payola seat on the modern court.

Who does Trump owe in a big way? The nominee will be somewhere in the answer to that question.

Tim Macy used “staunched” rather than “stanched”, and therefore all of his points are invalidated.

(Yes, online dictionaries now show staunch as a synonym for stanch, but that’s nothing more than an acknowledgement that the illiterate, uncomprehending, and unbathed have enstupidiated the distinctions between distinct words.)

Are any of you enjoying Microsoft’s latest FUBAR, the watermark on the lower right of the screen that says:

    Activate Windows
Go to Settings to activate Windows

It seems that the Windows Activation Servers have lost contact with the Mothership. Microsoft says they are on it. Yeah, just like the mess-up with the latest update eating your files and ruining file associations and default programs. Something is wrong at Microsoft, more so than any time in the past.

Dude, make me wonder what you think of my pitiful attempts at the English language.

Of course, there is always my friend James Nicoll’s saying about the English language.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Nicoll#%22The_Purity_of_the_English_Language%22

“The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and riffle their pockets for new vocabulary.”

  15. lynn says:

    Yes, horribly so.

So we’re not going to ban guns (not that I would propose such a thing.)

Why can’t we work on the atmosphere that promotes this kind of thing? Every time we express outrage, we breed outrage. Every time we express hatred, we breed hatred. Why can’t we suppress our outrage and hatred and stifle the environment that engenders that kind of response?

Go ahead, Mr. SteveF – tell my I used “engender” incorrectly. I’ll take it as a lesson and stanch the flow from my staunchly conservative monologue.

I’ve always loved this quote. I believe the same applies to our culture. The best parts of our culture came from Europe, Africa, China, India, Scandinavia, Europe, etc.

  18. JimL says:

Further, I believe the outrage over “Cultural Appropriation” is misplaced. Taking things from other cultures, filing off the serial numbers, and adopting them as “American” is the most American and respectful thing we can do.

I was just listening to Sean Hannity on the radio. He believes that events like the California shooting are just plain old evil. We don’t understand it and we never will, it is just evil expressing itself. Why couldn’t the shooter go in his garage and off himself ? Why did he have to take eleven good people with him ? We will never know. But, we do know what evil looks like and this is it.

You’re misgendering words all over the place. Don’t make me mansplain it to you.

  21. JimL says:

Oh My. Mansplain. The first time I heard that word I nearly crapped myself.

(That means I almost pooped my pants because the laughter caused my anal sphincter muscle to relax. I’m sure you would understand…)

I’m kind of stumped. I use FileZilla to put stuff onto my website. It’s always “just worked”.

Ok, I did break Windows the other day. FileZilla can’t connect to my site. The user and password and port all seem correct. And it times out. I tried a newer version of FileZilla that is quite happy to tell me every time I open it there is a new version…. just shut up already. I’ve re-typed my info into both versions to no joy.

    Status: Connecting to remsset.com:22 …
Status: Connected with remsset.com:22, initializing SFTP connection…
    Command: CONNECT emupaul@remsset.com:22
Error: FzSFtp.exe was closed, terminating connection.
    Error: Unable to connect!

Seems like if my password was wrong it would say so. It worked a couple of weeks ago. I turned Windows Firewall off. Maybe MS Security Essentials is the problem? I didn’t use it before.

    Maybe DreamHost changed something?

edit: emupaul@remsset.com is not a valid e-mail address.

edit again: And, if I tell FileZilla to just use FTP and not SSL or SFTP, it just works. But the encrypted stuff use to work.

We saw this back in 2000 in Florida (the infamous hanging chads).

The punchcard ballots were designed for two digits of precision in the percentages. Florida knew going back as far as the 1988 Senate race that a close election would be a problem.

The engineer who designed the voting system testified in Bush v Gore that he came up with a new punch that allowed for five digits of precision but Florida passed on buying new hardware even after the earlier scare.

  30. Greg Norton says:

“Florida teacher finds ‘provisional ballot box’ in storage area”

Oh, sure, its official. It says “Provisional Ballot Box” right on the front.

“Gillum Rescinds Concession: ‘Many More Uncounted Ballots Than Was Originally Reported’”

The Republicans aren’t going to give up the Governor’s Mansion now. Shifting the balance of the state’s Supreme Court and holding all three branches of government during redistricting will give the party another decade of dominance regardless of demographic changes.

They might concede the Senate seat. The establishment doesn’t like Rick Scott.

I nearly ended up working for Scott at one point. I don’t like him either, but he would be the last Senator to vote to impeach.

  32. Ray Thompson says:

And, if I tell FileZilla to just use FTP and not SSL or SFTP, it just works.

I also use FileZilla, latest version, to load stuff to my site. I use SFTP to do the transfer but I don’t specify the port that is used. I use 1and1 for my site. You may also want to log in to your host and see what they say about configuring FileZilla as it is a widely used client. No changes in Windows Firewall, router or Comcast modem.

  33. dkreck says:

You might try WinSCP, another open source FTP. The real problem might be the host no longer supporting insecure FTP. I had that problem with GoDaddy. Long time functioning transfers from a command line FTP stopped transferring.
