My job in Seattle was based on my ability to produce clean pee on demand in order to get cleared to board military aircraft and install our software. It was a mixed blessing since I never really fit in with the other developers.
It was also the only time in my career that I quit a job without notice. Management wouldn’t stop talking to me like I was retarded, even on my way out the door, an exit which f*cked their business plan for that “spin”.

I have found the hard way that the financial portion must be absolutely clear as to who is paying what and how much. I have had people write me checks and rush to the bank and close the account. Not just insufficient funds (I’ve had those also), but go and close the bank account.
ADD: When I rerented the office warehouse last year, the guy had to bring me $5,000 in cash. That got our relationship off to a great start.
I had a guy do that to me way back in the day when I was a student at ASU. We’d done a TON of handyman and light construction at his house, trying to fix stuff his previous contractor had messed up.
Scumbag wrote me a check on a closed account. That phone call was ill advised, but I was steaming mad, and it worked. We got paid.

Any mischief with the payment on either side results in a visit from a visibly armed Postal Inspector, and the REMFs only tried to “lose” my payment *once* before I educated them on the consequences.

I have been with Site5 since they were independent. I have a pretty reasonable rate for my domains, but that sweet deal is because I am grandfathered. I have noticed less reliability and responsiveness with Site5 since they sold out to EIG. Currently, I am “shopping” as my current good deal is going to cease in December 2020. BlueHost is at the top of my list right now.

I take checks after the first month’s rent and the deposit. So, it is an unusual thing. And I am very careful to document the hound out of the transaction.

Got the new travel trailer. Truck pulls it fine just not going to get anywhere fast, especially up hills. That is fine with me.
Surprised me the intelligence that was built into the brake controller. The computer knows the trailer is attached and displays the amount of braking force that is being applied to the trailer brakes. You can set the amount of gain and I have no idea what the optimum setting should be for the gain. I want some force applied about equivalent to what I am applying on the truck brakes. I have the gain at what I think is a good setting. You can also manually apply the trailer brakes with a control on the dash. The display also shows that number of miles you have been towing the trailer.
Load leveling hitch barely causes the truck to sag. Sway thus far does not seem to be an issue although I have not experienced significant winds, just a couple of truck passing me. Truck seems to move a little more than with the boat (no load leveling hitch), subtle but noticeable. I suspect it has to do with the load leveling hitch transferring some of the trailer bounce to the truck itself.
Trailer will fit under the boat awning with about a foot to spare. Will have three feet of horizontal clearance so will park with about six inches on one side so we can open the doors on the other side.
Fifteen amps is not enough to run the air conditioner. Tripped the breaker. So I need to have an electrician install a 30 amp 115V outlet on the side of the house. Will not use it much but will be nice to have in case we do want to run the A/C. Also has an electric/gas water heater and electric/gas area heater. Refrigerator is also electric/gas. All the appliances will automatically switch to electric when available otherwise will use gas. Stove and oven is gas, microwave is electric as they have not figured out how to make a gas powered microwave.
First trip is tomorrow, only about 50 miles to the spot. Will leave early Sunday morning. Shakedown cruise to figure out how every thing works.

My trailer seems to default to electricity as far as the fridge goes. I have to switch the water heater manually. I do have gas heat but we’ve never used it. Electric heat is a space heater.
Trailer brake controller….. I’ve been told to set it were you can feel the trailer trying to pull you to a stop and then loosen it up.
OK. I will try that and see how I like it. Where I have there have not been any issues with stopping.
Thought about getting one. There is a propane outlet on the trailer to hook up a generator. But I seriously doubt we will ever stay anywhere there is not full hookups, water, sewer and power.
Ray, you should adjust your trailer’s brakes similar to the way engineers design bridges: Drive on steeper and steeper hills, on slick roads, and with heavier loads in the trailer. Adjust the brakes in small increments as you do so, making careful notes about everything. When you get to where you can’t properly control the truck and trailer and wreck it, buy a new truck and trailer and set the brakes to where they were on the trip before the wreck.

When a new submarine goes out for the first time before it is accepted by the U.S. Navy all the Shipyard Designers, Engineers, Craft Leads, and Shipyard Management involved in the construction of the sub go out on that first short run and initial dive. The same thing is done after every overhaul. Or at least that’s how we did it back in the day.
