Arrived safely at my destination with a minimum of fuss and hassle. Currently 75° F, and forecast for rain. Looks nice at the moment, so we’ll see.
TSA was easy, definitely carry a small child if you want to avoid hassle and invasive searches.
Time to feed these small kids….

It continues to be dry here – no meaningful rain for – not sure – must be nearly a month now. Some thunderstorms in the mountains, but even there, not much actual wet stuff.
This is unusual for here, so things are dry, dry, dry. Yesterday was our national holiday (equivalent of July 4th), but the forests are so dry that they banned all fireworks nationwide. People followed the ban, too: I heard one “pop” last night, that was it. No rain forecast for anytime soon…
Cut up two more tree trunks to season for firewood. That’s five down and one to go.
This afternoon, we’re hauling off a huge load of old games and puzzles to the local charity shop. I have all the ones from my family, my wife has those from her family, plus all the ones we bought together for our kids. Anything we haven’t played in the last X years (and that has no huge sentimental value), is going – it’s going to be a huge carload!

I was groped in Austin at the beginning of last month, but, flying back, TSA at the Southwest gates at Tampa just waived people through the metal dectors, shoes on.
I guess they figured that terrorists probably aren’t flying on Sunday morning at 5:30 AM.
Heh, I’m on a flight to NC/VA with MrsAtoz. Two gigs, but one Fri and one Mon so staying the weekend. TSA was a breeze out of Vegas. I carry gadgets in my backpack and carryon. Right through the xray no problem. On AA flight. First time I had to wait to board ‘cause the plane was too hot. The night crew didn’t get the APU started early enough to cool the plane. Some rule it has to be below “90” to board. That puts us 30 min behind on a 4 hour flight.

My co-workers on AA flights through the Southwest states last week had lots of delays and one outright cancellation for a manager headed home.

That’s the guy in charge of Austin schedules, both arrivals and departures.
Southwest Airlines does reasonably well since the Wright Amendment was totally repealed to open up Love Field as a hub, but AA’s hub is DFW, with a lot more gates available.
@Nick – what was the “service animal” situation like on the plane?
Publix stepped up and banned the fake therapy animals, but they are already in the publicity … dog house … over Adam Putnum.

““Dumbass f**king white people marking up the internet with their opinions like dogs pissing on fire hydrants,” she tweeted in 2016.”
Nice person.
And the NYT publisher begged Trump to be nicer to the “media”.

If only the government would regulate hurricanes out of existence !
Nice person.
Please remind me: When exactly is THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON supposed to manifest itself, again?

That location is actually Round Rock, just a few yards from where the police stopped the Austin serial bomber.
Something about that spot. Indian burial ground under 35?
Something about that spot. Indian burial ground under 35?
All of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, etc, etc, etc, are Indian burial grounds. When they built the Grand Parkway (99) around Houston, they had to reroute it at least once for previously unknown Indian burial grounds of over 10,000 years age.

“Some Ideas to Think About” by Walter Williams
http://walterewilliams.com/some-ideas-to-think-about/
“Poverty is no mystery, and it’s easily avoidable. The poverty line that the Census Bureau used in 2016 for a single person was an income of $12,486 that year. For a two-person household, it was $16,072, and for a four-person household, it was $24,755. To beat those poverty thresholds is fairly simple. Here’s the road map: Complete high school; get a job, any kind of a job; get married before having children; and be a law-abiding citizen.”
“How about some numbers? A single person taking a minimum wage job would earn an annual income of $15,080. A married couple would earn $30,160. By the way, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, less than 4 percent of hourly workers in 2016 were paid the minimum wage. That means that over 96 percent of workers earned more than the minimum wage. Not surprising is the fact that among both black and white married couples, the poverty rate is in the single digits. Most poverty is in female-headed households.”
Words of wisdom.
No service animals at all that I saw. Flight was full and they were offering vouchers at check-in.
We board in group 2, sit in the low 20s, get the kids settled in, and fly. I try for low stress. We get thru security way early, go to the club for
drinks and snacks, and potty breaks
The kids are very good fliers.

What a tool ! He know that all temperature data before 1900 is extrapolated using something else as a reference. We have no idea what the real temperature data looks like for an area or the planet.

“And don’t forget that interactivity cuts two ways. All that Javascript lets you do things Netscape Navigator could only dream of 20-plus years ago, but it’s also enabled websites, search engines, ads, media platforms, and social media platforms to track your every click and hover. Those trackers even share your metadata with sites and platforms you’ve never visited.”
Well, this is not good. There was an armed home invasion in my neighborhood at 3 am this morning. Not my street, but in my subdivision of 4,000 homes in Sugar Land.
” Assistant Chief Michelle Allen, City of Sugar Land AGENCY
This morning around 3:30 a.m. officers responded to a reported burglary/home invasion in the 1500 block of Timbertrail Dr. ( Greatwood subdivision). Two masked black male suspects kicked in the front door of the residence armed with weapons. They confronted the homeowner and fled when the alarm sounded. Detectives are asking anyone in the area with surveillance video to check and see if it captured the suspects or any suspicious vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call us at 281-275-2540.”

Wait until WebAssembly starts rolling and the browser apps get more sophisticated.
I haven’t kept up in the last year, but an LLVM backend was in the works.

Looks like easy access to that street from the freeway on a map. While the privacy invasion will suck, you need a random cop sitting on that road with an ALPR scanning plates exiting the freeway.
I really hate that a direct route now exists from the last free exit on 183 northbound to our neighborhood. It is two lanes for now, but the county just went through and widened the shoulders in advance of a inevitable road expansion when the new high school opens on a piece of the former ranch-turned-H1B housing next door.

The assistant police chief who lives around the corner from me says the home invasion was a targeted robbery. Not random at all.
