NB that it’s already happening- sinaloa gang chopping off 13yo girl’s head in ALABAMA, salvadorans chopping a 15yo kid to death in NYC, MS-13 hacking kids to death in Long Island, and elsewhere.

If the open borders crowd doesn’t live in gated subdivisions then their houses tend to be in suburban neighborhoods with limited access in/out and elementary schools in the center.
Round Rock is the second “relief valve” conservative community we’ve lived in near a larger liberal urban core. As soon as the kids come along, the hipsters want to live in areas with good schools, Republican Congressional representation, and Mormons.
The houses in my neighborhood near the Mormon Temple never make it beyond the realtor sign saying “Coming Soon” … if a sign goes up at all.

Well, the solar panel I bought is a Kyocera k80 and is a great panel. It’s putting out almost 20v in bright sun.
The sine wave inverter that came with it also seems to be working fine.
I think the charge controller is the reason it was all decommed and sent to auction. I get no voltage out on the battery charge terminals or load terminals.
I’ll have to read the manual and see if I’m missing something, but if not, a new one is about $70 on ebay. Freaking batteries are the expensive part! I looked up the marine deep cycle I got with some cop surveillance gear and it’s over $270. It IS a deep cycle, and AGM, spill proof, high temp and vibration environment listed battery. It’s almost 3x what a normal vented battery of the same capacity costs.

86º and sunny this afternoon. After a bike race yesterday and a half-marathon this morning, I’m beat. But working on the followup work will keep me going for a few hours yet.
Eldest is safely away at camp, and my first wife is at work, so the youngers and I are baching it this afternoon. Good to be back in the A/C. We all appreciate it.

Got some stuff done. Not as much as I hoped, but more than nothing.
The form is in place for my generator concrete pad.
I got some stuff cleaned up.
Trimmed some stuff.
Sweated my freckles off.
Portacool made it a lot more comfortable, when I could stay in front of it. Fixed another popup canopy so I’ll have shade for stuff tomorrow. Used parts off a damaged one to repair this one. Not a perfect fit but will work.
Half my beans have died. One whole bed turned silver then withered away. They had enough water, and good sun. I sprayed the rest with a bug treatment. Hope that saves some. Zukes are done. The stems were attacked by something that turns the insides of the stem orange and rotten. Not trying zukes again, as this is a consistent failure mode.
Fall squashes have all succumbed to something. Never really got going, and now they are dead. Have ONE fruit on my Meyer lemon tree this year. Last year was a bumper crop. Must have been the weird cold/hot weather at the beginning of the year.
I WILL find stuff that will grow for me here. I WILL!111!!!1!1!!11!!

Maintenance work on the chain link fence I installed 15 years ago. Detached the fabric, pounded some of the posts down an inch or so, adjusted the height of the top rail. Reattached the fabric with fresh ties.
It’s been on my to do list for a couple years. Only took an hour. Rolling my eyes that I procrastinated so long. It was easier and faster than I thought.
Front yard looks much less red neck.

Basically, a scientist discovered that the human genome has been damaged. The gene damage is dominant and spreading rapidly. The new genome turns humans into barely intelligent, very aggressive animals. He postulates that civilization will fall in less than 100 years.
So the scientist invents a time machine that only runs one way. Suspended animation for which he builds 1,000 machines and takes 1,000 humans 1,800 years into the future at which point they can repopulate the planet. But the planet has been repopulated already when they wake up.
Netflix has a damn good time travel series. Subtitles so I don’t watch it often (my tv watching time is late in the evening, post car crash reading at night is HARD).

You have to kinda scrounge to find the movie, but Richard Curtis’ last directing effort, “About Time” puts an interesting twist on time travel.

Matt Smith’s first two seasons are great. Of course, the chemistry he had with Karen Gillian didn’t hurt either. And Alex Kingston was also fantastic.
I really liked the first three new doctors – Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith. For me, the series started to go down hill with Smith’s new companion Clara. I barely tolerated the last doctor – Capaldi. He had a couple good episodes. I don’t know if was the writing, the companion (Clara – stayed way too long and was terrible) or Capaldi himself. Probably a combo of all three. My favorite episode of his era is the Wedding of River Song – of course, Alex Kingston carries the entire episode, and her and the doctor actually have good chemistry together.
I’m debating on even watching the new doctor. I don’t agree with the doctor being a female, but that isn’t the deal breaker. It’s the woman they chose. I didn’t like her at all in Broadchurch…don’t think she would be much better now. Interesting that she was the one chosen. The new show runner for Doctor Who is the guy responsible for Broadchurch…. Also, the over-the-top in-your-face diversity push does get a little tiresome.

In the early days, “NCIS” used to insert frequent references to “Quantum Leap” and “Magnum PI”. The references haven’t been as numerous as of late, but the “NCIS New Orleans” Pilot aired on the 25th anniversary of the premiere of “Quantum Leap”, and one of the milestone “NCIS” episodes (300th?) was heavily influenced by the “Quantum Leap” final episode, with the “Do you wan’t to keep going” theme.

Have you tried potatoes yet ? All of my grandparents, and my inlaws, grew up on potatoes. Three times a day for months on end. The other items that grow in Texas without severe maintenance are cotton (except for the weevils which Fort Bend County has again), sorgum, and maze. The corn is not natural here but grown since it is a cash crop.
