10:02 – Federal and state estimated taxes are in the mail. Grrrrrr.
I’m afraid that the Florida outrage is just the latest in what’s likely to be a string of similar outrages between now and the general election. The goal of terrorists, after all, is to spread terror among ordinary people. In that sense, the choice of a gay bar was less effective than it might have been had the murderer chosen a target that average people could identify with. Only a tiny percentage of the population has ever been in a gay bar. Nearly everyone has attended sporting events, theme parks, and similar soft targets that attract mass numbers of people. There are hundreds of thousands of such soft targets, most of them made even softer by declaring themselves gun-free zones. Which is actually a pretty good metric: if it’s a gun-free zone, you really don’t want to be there under any circumstances. And in that category I include not just sports stadia and theme parks, but entire cities and states. All they’re really doing is advertising, “Lots of helpless victims available here.” Someone called that a wolf amongst the sheep, but I think a weasel among the chickens sums it up better. If you value your life and your family’s lives, don’t go anywhere you can’t go armed. And if you ever find yourself in such a situation, don’t count on someone else to save you. Whether or not you’re armed, your best response is ALWAYS flat-out attack.
More work on science kit stuff today.
A friend of a friend is one of the dead in Orlando, so even I get it, even though I’ve never been to a gay bar. I have read reports that the killer evaluated Disney Springs as a target, and I have been there. I’m pissed off that the grandson of a Muslim cannot bring himself to call this Islamic terror. I’m pissed off that our government is so concerned with being Politically Correct that it won’t even say there is a risk that Muslim’s will attack gays.
Yeah, I suspect a lot of gays are pissed, too.
I just read an article linked to from Instapundit, written by a guy named Tom G. Palmer. When I saw the headline and byline, I wondered if it was the Tom Palmer I’d known back in 1980 when both of us were working at the Libertarian National Committee national headquarters during the runup to the presidential election. Sure enough, it was him. I wouldn’t have recognized him, and I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have recognized me, but it’s been more than 35 years and we were both young whippersnappers back then.
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/tom-g-palmer-wake-orlando-gays-arm-article-1.2671568
Looking back at my post, I realize I should apologize for comparing a musloid scum to a weasel. Weasels have never hurt me, so that was an unjustified insult to their species.
Yes, if one has the presence of mind, an attack is the right response. Certainly after the initial round of shots, when people knew what was going on, the crowd should have rushed him and beaten him to death with their beer glasses. Guns are basically useless in hand-to-hand fighting.
The thing is: that takes a mindset that most people just don’t have. We live very safe lives. With relatively few exceptions, we are unaccustomed to violence. When SHTF, I imagine most people’s brains either shut down in panic, or tell them to run away. Attacking – and you need to do it as a group – requires some deliberate thought.
Given that the victims didn’t defend themselves, where were the police? If I read the timeline correctly, there were 20 dead when the police started negotiating with him. He apparently killed another 30 during the negotiations? If that’s correct, then the police should have rushed him – he was only one person, after all.
Yes, but that would violate cops’ Prime Directive: GET HOME SAFELY AT ANY COST! To most cops now, the only lives that matter are their own and those of other cops.
BlueBlack lives matter.I like (sarc/) how most police uniforms are black. Because it’s slimming of the typical donut-boy silhouette, I suppose. Surely not to intimidate the “civilians”.
We all hope that we will be a hero if we’re ever put in a situation like that, but in reality I suspect most of us would try to maximize our odds for individual survival.
I have nothing against Muslims as such, but I don’t see that there’s much benefit letting more of them into the country at this time. For that matter, why are we still allowing any immigration both legal and illegal? Half the countries unemployed and jobs are hard to come by. What sense does it make to bring in more people that will more than likely just end up being another burden on those of us that are still employed?
Nothing heroic about it. With an active shooter, the best chance of personal survival for anyone near him is flat-out attack. With a firearm if possible, but with your bare hands gif that’s all you have.
From the article by Palmer:
Palmer was one of the original plaintiffs in the successful Heller Supreme Court case that affirmed an individual right to keep and bear arms and the lead plaintiff in the successful Palmer vs. District of Columbia case that affirms the right to bear arms. After winning the case, he was denied a concealed carry permit by the District of Columbia.
With an active shooter, the best chance of personal survival for anyone near him is flat-out attack.
Then multiply that by 10 carriers of the gun of the hand.
Half the countries unemployed and jobs are hard to come by.
There it is.
Trump 2016
The FBI and Obola have given the libturds their new narrative:
FBI: “We’re almost certain the murderer was SELF-RADICALIZED. Whew, covered our ass on that one.”
Translation: Islamofuks are not responsible.
Obola: “The murderer was a HOME GROWN terrorist.”
Translation: It’s our fault thanks to WHITEY! hating on the Mooslims and Gays. Lets all terrorist nations/groups off the hook.
MSNBC was running with that all night long.
“The murderer was a home grown terrorist”.
A second generation immigrant is technically home-grown, but really not quite. The values from the parents carry over. Especially true, when coming from a massively different culture (in this case, Afghanistan).
Anecdote: Switzerland is about to change the law to make it simpler for the third generation to get a Swiss passport. Not (notably) the second generation.
ACLU: “the social and political environment cultivated by Christian conservatives in recent months was to blame for the shooting at Pulse”
Geez. I know that progressive heads are imploding just now, but I didn’ t realize that they could still talk after an implosion.
Wow, what a relief. Mooslems aren’t our enemies after all…
“Let’s be clear: Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.”

“With an active shooter, the best chance of personal survival for anyone near him is flat-out attack. ” – ABSOLUTELY. It really confuses them, they don’t expect any opposition. A thrown chair or bottle will disrupt the attack and give chance for more to flee and more to attack. But we, as a people, have been indoctrinated over the last 50 years to be passive and let the “authorities” handle it. We saw in 2001 that was a mistake. We saw last weekend it was still a mistake. However not many of us still have the mind set to run toward the sounds of gunshots and screams. But as my wife recently wrote, it only takes ONE to make a difference. I have a plan to deal with an active shooter in any place I am from Church to the office. We all should.
I actually watched that duplicitous fucker’s speech while standing at the gun store.
Just to be clear* he called for the reinstatement of the AWB. He wants to eliminate access to ‘weapons of war’. He wants to eliminate the presumption of innocence that our ENTIRE system of justice is predicated on, and deny 2A rights to anyone on a watch list. That point alone is him breaking his sworn oath of office.
5 minutes about respecting the 1A and religious freedom, after 5 minutes of destroying the 2A. Only cares about SOME of the Constitution, but we knew that. 5 minutes of strawmanning about why he won’t call it pisslamic radicalism, with no good reasons except we’ll excite mooslims to more violence if we aren’t extra careful of their feelings.
And WTF is with his using ISIL instead of ISIS.. Doesn’t granting them the Levant give them even MORE recognition? He’s the last MF on the planet to call them ISIL.
What’s in a name he asks? Well, clearly identifying something is IMPORTANT. It affects how you think about it.
He made a point that the last 3 or 4 were US citizens **, as if that negated our concerns about immigration. It makes it WORSE that these murderous scumbags were welcomed to the land of the free, benefited from it, and then REJECTED it for hate and murder. How much less restraint will some new import have?
5 minutes beating on “the presumptive Republican candidate for President” and all Republicans.
This is it folks. Time’s up.

My company held a Team Meet this week where they flew in IT Security team reps from the UK and all over the US. Over dinner last night, it was no surprise the conversation got around to the US election. I was surprised to find that the most outspoken Trump supporter was a Muslim from our Boston office. He grew up in NYC and had worked there for years . He said “I’ve met Trump, worked with his people, he’s a good guy. He hires blacks, gays, women, Hispanic, he only discriminates against incompetence“ When we asked if, as a Muslim, he was concerned about Trumps statements, he laughed. That’s the way he talks, in grand visions, but when it comes to details he is practical“ And besides” he noted, “I’d be happy for him to identify and deport the radicals that put all our lives in danger”.
@harold, you are correct.
And the swat team FAILED utterly to address the situation. Now they’re saying “it transitioned from active shooter to hostage and we acted appropriately for a hostage situation.” FAILED Doctrine is very clear now. Counterattack immediately with whatever is at hand, and that applies double to cops.
Anyone who died after the initial shots fired can be partly laid at the feet of Orlando SWAT.

For all you guys who are endlessly debating with yourselves about which AR-15 model to buy or whether you should buy a pistol first, etc. etc.
Stop debating and BUY SOMETHING. For most guys, my recommendation for a first gun is a pump-action 12-gauge shotgun. One of the best deals going is the Maverick 88, which is basically a tactical Mossberg 500, but with some Mexican content. I bought one for Barbara and one for me, although my primaries will still be my HS-10B and my Atchisson. You can still pick up a Maverick 88 for $200 or so, much less than an AR. Hell, you can get an M88 and a thousand rounds of buck and slugs for less than an AR.
And the shotgun is a more appropriate weapon for typical suburban residents, and/or those with little experience with tactical rifles. You point it rather than aiming it, and it’s a fearsome weapon out to 50 yards or so. That’s plenty for most environments. Yes, it’s slow to load, but I trained myself very early on in the shoot-one-load-one method, which ensures the magazine is always full.

Federal and state estimated taxes are in the mail. Grrrrrr.
I do this twice a month! Except my accountant goes to the IRS website and tells them to draft our business checking account for X dollars. And they always show up a day or two early so the money had better be there.
And no “income taxes” here in The Great State of Texas. But we have plenty of others. I do pay them sales taxes each month that I collect for them. Gotta pay for Grandma in the nursing home somehow (Medicaid is the #1 state expense).

With an Atchisson and several drum mags you could take a whole house apart. The libturds would implode if these were available at the local gun shop. Throw in a Mk 19 or two for good measure. I wanted the Mk 19 for my issue weapon during my last tour in Korea. The BC wouldn’t let me have it. We placed them to chuck into the local ville where we suspected NORKs might be hiding. Sorry for the collateral.
“first gun is a pump-action 12-gauge shotgun” AGREE 100%
A 12-guage pump is a fantastically versatile tool. from non-lethal loads to amazing sabot rounds, you can find anything you can imaging in 12 GA. Flares, fire starting shells, bean-bags, plastic bullets, slugs, pepper gas, tear gas, flechettes, anything. The pump action is simple to use, extremely reliable, and will chamber anything from the tiny 1/2 size slug rounds to the long flares, things that will choke an auto.
I have a Chinese Remington 870 knock off I bought for $180 that I have a cheap holographic sight on top and a laser under the barrel to make it a simple point-and-shoot solution. If I could have ONLY ONE gun it would be a 12 guage pump.
I heard this description of the AR-15 on TeeVee last night:
“machine of mass murder”
MSNBC of course. By the description of the AR-15 by libturds, you would think it fired nuclear tipped missiles.
I love the contradictions inherent in Western civilization. The Islamists hate us because we are the descendants of the Crusaders, and because of those infidels in Whollyweird.
What did two Orlando Chik-fil-a restaurants do when they found out people were standing in line for hours to donate blood on a Sunday? They gave them free food. Probably the first time either store served food on a Sunday…
Contrary to conventional wisdom, the theme parks in Central Florida are not soft targets. Most of the security people are ex-law enforcement and/or military, and I don’t doubt that Disney has plenty of ex-spooks on the payroll.
No, the terrorist did his homework. The current city governments in both Orlando and Tampa are run by liberals who want to move up to the Governor’s mansion in a few years, and political correctness dominates … or did until Sunday.
We are now hearing that the ISIS shooter in Orlando used a Sig Sauer MCX carbine (possiby 9mm) NOT the poor hated AR-15. That Sig is twice the price of the AR at my local so this guy had some serious cash to spend.
Greg: as a security professional I can verify that Disney has one of the best security organizations around. It’s no surprise that there have never been terror attacks in any of the Disney parks or properties. They use every technique, especially those law enforcement are not allowed, to identify and head off threats.
A terrorist could kill a lot of people without breaching the security perimeter. Same thing at a stadium.
BTW, in the “Once Upon an Apocalypse” book, the male survivor used a Kel-Tec SUB-2000 Gen2 9 mm Carbine with a add-on suppressor:
http://dailycaller.com/2016/04/21/gun-test-kel-tec-sub-2000-gen2-9-mm-carbine/
He kept it folded in half in his backpack on his truck back seat. Since the Kel-tec takes a Glock 17 or 19 mag, he used common mags for his handgun and carbine. Something to think about there for a vehicle travel weapon.
Growing up not far from the Disney property, I was told that, with the exception of the Skyway, every guest is no more than 15 seconds away from armed response.
If I was part of the Muslim community in Central Florida, the parks are the last places I would want to see radicals causing trouble. Everyone in the area knows where the big mosque is located — on a busy road smack in the middle of the dense suburb full of theme park employee homes just to the north and west of the Disney and Universal properties, respectively. Now *that* is a soft target for extremeists.
Anybody notice what has been obviously missing in all media today?
Well it is Flag Day. Sadly it waves for a Republic lost. I am flying mine up-side-down today.
Google of course could not be bothered to make a special page. I’m surprised Google hasn’t done one for Ramadan.
I was going to the outdoor range today, but my regular shop sold out of the ammo I wanted to use yesterday and will not have any more until Thursday or Friday. Oh well, high winds today 25-35mph and gusts. I’ll go to the indoor range a little later.
Yah, it’s flag day today but who gives a fuck, amirite? All the gummint and private corporation flags up here are at half-staff anyway, for, of course, the unarmed civvies murdered by the musloid terrorist in Orlando. The half-mast thing used to be just for dead Presidents, senators, etc., but now it’s for anyone who dies in the world, per ExecOrder (pat.pending).

““We are in a war Obama will not admit.””
Barack Hussein Soetero may not be interested in war, but war is interested in him, to paraphrase, somewhat ironically, the late Lev Bronstein (a.k.a. Leon Trostsky).
But I do not agree with the proposed mil-spec measures the writer espouses; my view is that we need to GTFO of the Sandbox countries completely, close the vast majority of our bases and other military installations around the world, and put the homecoming troops and weapons systems on our southern border, sealing it completely, like unto the old Berlin Wall, only with up-to-date technology.
We also need to shut down all immigration while we root through and currycomb the swarms of musloid scum already here for eventual deportation. This is not impossible, whereas doing it for the tens of millions of Hispanics probably is by now. That hoss done left the barn for good, thanks to the late Teddy Kennedy and his minions back in the Sixties.
At the same time we inform the world thusly: We would like to be your friends, and trade with you on a LEVEL PLAYING FIELD. If not, not, but we do not want to be your enemy and you do not want us an enemy. If we are attacked here at home, we will respond immediately with overwhelming and utterly devastating force, depending on the nature of the attack and the identity and whereabouts of the attackers. Bring us their heads if they originate in your nation-state or non-state entity, or we will eradicate you and your people from the face of the earth.
Meanwhile we have armed orbital satellites, nuclear subs on patrol in our oceans, and hunter-killer spec ops teams for “surgical strikes,” plus all the drones. And we’ve stepped up our cyber-war technologies by orders of magnitude.
No more of this stupid 2nd- and 3rd-gen warfare, with Warthogs and tanks and machine guns in the deserts and jungles. Fuck all that; we’ve seen that movie.
Drove Princess back to Moh-ree-all this afternoon, after many delays and farting around, per usual, with heavy traffic on the outskirts coming and going, naturally. More farting around in the city with several errands to do, etc., etc.
@MrAtoz; ….but on leaving, I was behind an SUV with Nevada plates, “Vegas Drift” emblem on the right rear, couldn’t make out the smaller letters above it. Four peeps inside and they left me in the dust, but I caught up with them at the Highgate border crossing into Vermont, 60 miles down the road. Coulda been a rental, but it would be the first rental I’ve ever seen with NV plates. Wonder what they were doing in Montreal or wherever they were.
And spent the last half-hour of the trip up attempting to listen and referee with Princess complaints about her brother, SIL, grandma and mom, lol. But she actually had the right of them, for the most part.
Mrs. OFD and grandma are down at yet another b-day party for the grandson and other associated family social b.s. ginned up by our DIL’s mom, who’s a bitch-on-wheels. They should be back tonight at some point, long ride down to White River Junction and back, while son and DIL and grandkids are in VT for the week.
And the rain and chill and suchlike have finally gone away and it’s a few days coming now of sun and blue skies. Saw a double rainbow last night after the brief t-storm; it made the front page of the local rag.
My idea of leveling the playing field in the mooslem countries is to turn them into glass. We have a few low power nukes that need to used before they “expire”. Use the new glass deserts as an example of what we will do to anybody that bothers us. No negotiation, no “barter”, just leave us the fuck alone.
BTW, I did manage to impress myself at the indoor range this afternoon. Practicing my rapid clip changes. Did pretty good hitting the silhouettes if I do say so myself. Now to do a some cleaning and lubing.
“Practicing my rapid clip changes. Did pretty good hitting the silhouettes if I do say so myself. Now to do a some cleaning and lubing.”
Outstanding!
“My idea of leveling the playing field in the mooslem countries is to turn them into glass. ”
That would mean Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, half of Sudan, the countries surrounding our wunnerful friends and allies in Israel, large chunks of the former Soviet Union, and the island-nation of Indonesia. Unfortunately, those places also contain large numbers of people, including persecuted Christians and Jews and Buddhists and other religions, and just regular normal working people trying to get through the day, like most of us, only against terrible odds. Do we just write them off as an acceptable cost?

Kris Kristofferson has Lyme disease
My brother worked on a few films with him. (Angels Sing, a Christmas movie that stars Harry Connick, Jr. and Willie Nelson and has a bunch of the Austin music scene in supporting roles and Lone Star about a small town near the border.)
Kristofferson could be the model for “the most interesting man in the world”. Army/Air Force brat – dad retired an AF general. Good athlete in college (rugby, football, and track), graduated summa cum laude from Pomona in literature. Oxford scholar and lettered in boxing, played rugby there. Went into the army, chopper pilot, ranger, and rose to captain in the 8th infantry division. Left the army to pursue his music career. Worked as a chopper pilot in the offshore oil business and kept flogging songs in Nashville. Eventually sold songs and won a bunch of awards. My brother says he’s a friendly man’s man kind of guy.
“An example of how having a lot of money makes you real dumb:”
And a lot of interesting back-and-forth in the comments following; no idea how it would work here without actually trying it.
Re: Kristofferson; I always liked him and hope he is able to defeat Lyme. His ex, Rita Coolidge, is playing up here over at the Stowe Mountain Resort this coming weekend. He also played one of the main characters in that old tee-vee series (with Robert Urich) wherein the Soviets have won and taken over the running of the U.S.
Heard Janis Joplin singing his song “Me and Bobby McGee” on the radio this morning.
I hope that he can beat the Lyme disease. It won’t kill you quick but it will make your life a living hell.
Swell. Kristofferson evidently caught Lyme here in Vermont:
“Then, earlier this year, a doctor decided to test Kristofferson for Lyme disease. The test came back positive. His wife believes he picked it up from a tick as he crawled around the forest floor in Vermont for six weeks while filming the movie Disappearances.”
We have a lotta deer up here, of course, and when I’m out and about in the fields and woods I’m always wearing long pants, while everyone else would rather wear shorts and be nice and cool in the breeze and look like cub scouts or Beavis and Butthead at the same time. And you gotta check yourself after these jaunts, too.
Rita’s looking pretty darn good these days, by the way.
Most deer ticks are carried by mice. Usually the white foot mouse.
Got mice?
Hahahahaha…no mice in this house or yard, for some odd reason.
No other rodents, either. And the birds are PISSED off; they’re now dive-bombing and swooping down on the cats, who simply ignore them.

The media, really everywhere, but especially in the US, is just weird: they are so worried about people’s sensibilities that they rarely show nudity, sex, death or anything even particularly gory. From this, he generates a conspiracy theory.
You almost have to feel sorry for the progs, trying to spin something other than the obvious from a mass murderer who was muslim, gay, and a registered Democrat.
In thinking about this Orlando incident and everyone calling upon Obuttwad (the Smeegle of presidents, a loathsome creature indeed) to declare the event a terrorist event which he fails to do. I am thinking it has more to do with the insurance companies. Almost all insurance policies do not provide coverage of any kind against acts of terrorism. Thus if the cretin were to declare the incident an act of terrorism all the insurance policies would no longer pay anything. Life insurance, medical insurance, liability insurance would all be off the hook for paying any damages or remediation.

Only Mooslems are allowed in Mecca and Medina. Perfect target. And unlike DadCooks, I’m not a cheapskate. I’d let them have a couple of Minuteman IIIs out of Minot. (You know that an ICBM has never been tested operationally over-the-pole? This might be a good time. Best to let the Russians know first though.)
If we’re talking about point targets, I’d rather use the orbital death rays. What? You say we don’t have any orbital death rays? Oh, what a sweet, naive child of nature you are!
As for picking out what to destroy, you should put a point in Mauritania, draw a line ESE to cover Kenya, then extend that about 4500 miles ENE into a box covering most of the ’stans and Bangladesh. There’s your target area. Fire at will.
