08:59 – Barbara leaves at 0400 tomorrow, so she’s trying to get everything done before then. I told her not to worry about cleaning house. I’m a guy and Colin is a dog. Neither of us minds living in filth and squalor. I’ve also planned our menu for while Barbara is gone. It’s mostly PB&J sandwiches, baked beans, potato chips, tuna fish, Chef Boyardee lasagna, cookies, and so on. Lots of variety. We’ll do fine.

Yes, seven platters. Reminds me of the old 12 inch winchester with the removable 10? platters.

Wait, here is WD with a 10 TB drive!

Looks like the helium is allowing them to significantly increase the platter count.

Looks great for Colin. What are you going to eat?

In the ongoing saga of as the cell phone tower turns, the latest Verizon offer is $950/month with a two percent annual increase and a $2,000 signing bonus. I said that I would sign with a three percent annual increase. No word yet.

Despite a probable loss to my ‘man card’. My salad: box of sliced pre-washed shrooms, cherry tomatos’ a cuke sliced (with skin), and green pepper. With plastic refrigerator boxes, you can make 4 servings and serve with salad dressing (bottle) of choice ( chunky bleu cheese!). Also good is presliced ham/turkey breast meat with swiss cheese on white bread with mayo and mustard, and sweet whole baby gerkins (either on side or sliced in the sammich). And for cold days. a glass .5l mug of either cream of mushroom soup, or clam chowder. (In a mug you can sit at the computer an not worry about soup spoons or *major* spillage.

I’m afraid that on the few occasions I make a salad for us, or just me, it’s a major-league version of a typical ‘chef’s salad,’ wherein I throw everything but the kitchen sink, a sizable meal in itself. A sandwich, when I make one, is likewise; way more meat than bread and veggies. Although I do make and appreciate the occasional PB&J or grilled cheese, old school-style.

Probably a ham-onion-black olive-mushroom pizza tonight on a thin crust. Large. Dunno what Mrs. OFD is gonna have…

    [snip] tuna fish [snip]

As opposed to tuna reptile? Sorry, it’s a pet peeve. I don’t even like tuna, despite the fact that fresh blackfin & yellowfin can be caught a mile south of my house.

“Tuna” is the animal. “Tuna fish” is the meat. RBT used it correctly, with correctness defined by more than just popular vote.

But don’t take my word for it.

  8. OFD says:

We pronounce “tuna” as “toon-er” here, just another example of where we take the ‘R’ out of words and put it somewhere else.

I likes me a tooner-fish sammich with only mayo, bits of celery, a bit of sea salt and bourbon-smoked pepper, and a dash of Frank’s Hot Sauce. Sometimes I’ll add bacon, maybe lettuce, or make a tooner melt sammich wid cheese.

Grilled tooner is nice, too. Your choice of marinades, rubs, etc. I grill it Medium, most often with sea salt, pepper and lime; pat of buttuh on at the end.

Clueless = Wendy Davis (Democrat candidate for Governor of the Great State of Texas), “After debate, A confident Davis says she doesn’t regret voting for Obama”:

The Great State of Texas is not blue. Not yet. Maybe another 20 years but I doubt it even then.

She has been promising all kinds of freebies for the unwashed. Maybe even free showers! No mention of how to pay for all of her freebies but I feel a new tax or ten coming on.

For a while her nickname was Abortion Barbie but the press has dropped that like a hot potato.

RBT’s excuse wouldn’t wash here. My wife feels outnumbered: me, two sons and two male dogs. The two female cats don’t really help, seeing as they’re the ones who bring in mice (no vegetables for them) and leave hair everywhere…

  11. SteveF says:

Yah, my last cat left me mice. Rather, he left half mice. In the middle of the hall. In the middle of the night. It’s very unpleasant to get up in the morning and stagger down the hall half-awake and step on something cold and squishy. Nevertheless, I made sure to praise the cat and give him a treat because I wanted him to continue catching them.

  12. OFD says:

Over the years our cats have left mice, shrews, moles, frogs, toads, birds, and once, a snake, who eventually got away more or less OK.

I’m used to it now but thirty years ago I was up early for cop work after a night out with the boyz getting hammered at a cop bah and walked out to the driveway and found half a rat moldering in the morning sunlight. I almost lost whatever was still left in my stomach but manfully carried on.

Wendy Davis only made one mistake in her bid for Governor. Before running she forgot to move to California, New York or Illinois.

No loss of man card here with my chloresterol and triglycerides levels. And, I like salads! I had the fiery roasted corn salad today at Soup or Salad and it was good. We won’t talk about the four gingerbread muffins with generous helpings of butter on them.

The stuff from a can is awful. The stuff at Sushi restaurants or cooked to medium rare isn’t bad. But that’s probably a completely different fish from the other left coast.
