10:48 – The phone rang at 0215 this morning. Barbara’s mom had pushed her Lifeline button to summon the EMT’s. She was having chest pains and difficulty breathing. So they hauled her down to the hospital, where they checked her over and eventually sent her home. Barbara and Frances met at the hospital and waited to find out what was going on. From what Barbara told me, it sounds like it was just a panic attack, but as the doctor told Barbara, at her mom’s age one can never be sure. Frances took their mom home, and Barbara got home about 0655. Barbara slept for a while and then headed out to do errands. She’s downstairs now, defrosting the big freezer and filling baggies with sand for the earth science kit.
I ordered Barbara’s birthday present from Amazon yesterday. She doesn’t want to know what it is. I just gave her a hint. They’ll deliver it on a large truck.
I’m guessing it’s a pony. She never did get her parents to give her one when she was eight, but you’re finally taking care of it.
Plus, you’ll have all the poop you need for the forensics kits. Everyone wins!

Supposed to get really nasty here at the Crossroads of America in a few hours with wind up to 30 mph and an inch and a half of rain during the next 24 hours. Has not started yet, but I am prepared to spend the rest of the weekend inside. Sun and butt-freezing windy weather for back-to-work Monday.
We are having temps in the mid-50s right now, ‘sposed to last into Tuesday or so, then “bitter-cold” temps stahting Wednesday. I was out stacking firewood earlier and it’s been a gorgeous fall day with sun and blue skies. Off soon to get Mrs. OFD at the airport for her 24-hour break.

I HATE surprises.
I remind me of a guy I used to work with. His girlfriend decided to throw him a surprise birthday party, even though she knew he HATED surprises. So, she got one of his friends to lead him into a darkened room, whereupon they turned on the lights and everyone shouted SURPRISE! As the light came on, Harry was already diving over the back of the sofa. He came up with his .45 leveled at the spectators. It’s probably fortunate that he didn’t happen to be carrying his MAC-10 that day.
