Mon. Nov. 4, 2024 – on more day until we see if they take their “last chance” seriously

Hot and humid, although it will start cooler. Yesterday was a mix of sunny and hot, crashing downpours, high winds, and gentle rain. What kind of weather? Yes. Today shouldn’t have rain, but we’ll see. Still very wet out so the humidity will likely be high. Joy.

I did indoor things yesterday. Fixed some cables for the school, and for me. Did some troubleshooting on other tech that’s been stacked up waiting to be fixed. Nothing complete, but some small progress made.

Did a bunch of auction stuff. Won a very nice new bed for the BOL. The mattress we’ve been using is small (queen vs the cal king we have at home) and not very comfortable. I won a split king Tempur Pedic. Picking it up and moving it will be the hardest part. Everything about the Tempur Pedic is heavy. At least it’s 2 mattresses. Moving the cal king was almost too much for me and the wife. Being able to sleep for more than a couple of days without causing crippling neck and back pain will be nice. I’ll probably rent a trailer and a drywall dolly. That’s about the easiest way I can think to handle it.

Today I’m starting back at the kid’s school. I hope to get a couple more problems resolved so the kids can start actually working during the rehearsals. They have two weeks (a bit less actually) before opening night. Then I’ll be getting some auction dropoff stuff together, even if I don’t hear back from my auctioneer. I want it ready to go and all in one place. Well, I can dream, right?

Then there will be kid taxi service in the afternoon, and the rest of the domestic bliss…

Dunno when I’ll stack anything, but I’ll try. After all, we have an extra hour in the day, right?? ;-P

Stack while you can.

Still looks a bit drippy out, and the forecast says “could rain anytime” nationally.  I don’t usually bother with the local weather liars.  Sun is peaking through though.

Coffee is in the cup, bacon is in the pan, and as of this moment, everyone else in the house is in their bed.   I’ll have to remedy that…

Ok, you guys convinced me.  I just watched Godzilla, King of the Monsters!with Raymond Burr.   On Tubi, with a bearable amount of commercials.

“Godzilla Raids Again”, the first sequel in the “Godzilla” franchise, is interesting because the US dub cast list includes George Takei doing an Asian Stepen Fetchit bit, something I’m sure he would like to forget these days as the “woke” surviving cast member from “Star Trek”.

“Godzilla Raids Again” also features Keye Luke in the dubbing lead. Number One Son!

“Mothra” introduced the Japanese twins meme to geek culture, and I think the priestesses appear in all of those films. They are definitely in the first three, played by a pop duo, The Peanuts.

I believe “Svengoolie” has an interview with The Peanuts sisters from the 90s in one of his “Mothra” shows.

NBC Forced to Give Trump Two Minutes of Airtime and Boy Does He Deliver: ‘Kamala Broke It, I’ll Fix It’

NBC, backed into a corner over the blatant FCC violation, was forced to throw the GOP nominee a bone. That bone came in the form of two ad spots during Sunday’s NASCAR coverage, together with another aired during Sunday Night Football.

Those are two very pricey timeslots for ads to run, with the Daily Mail estimating each to have a price tag in the ballpark of $1.7 million.

SNL has “dress rehearsal” with a full audience earlier in the evening. Sketches are culled and tweaked from that point ahead of the live broadcast at 11:30.

No, no, no, no, no.  But they are pests.

I was living with my grandparents in 1970 (I was 10) when a raccoon family was eating the outside cat food on their back porch.  We were sitting in the den when the raccoon mom and dad brought up their four babies.  So cute and so dangerous.

Why Veterans Really Hate Liz Cheney, Kamala Harris, And The Architects Of The War On Terror

Harris and the Democrats have created a perfect storm of veteran disdain in that they have succeeded in uniting three once-inapposite groups behind Harris: the neocons who started the GWOT, the media and Democrats who undermined the veterans’ GWOT missions, and the generals who failed again and again and again at bringing the GWOT to a successful conclusion.

If you want to understand the prevailing veteran rage against Harris and love for Trump, you need to understand this unholy trinity that so many veterans loathe.

    https://thefederalist.com/2024/11/04/why-veterans-really-hate-liz-cheney-kamala-harris-and-the-architects-of-the-war-on-terror/

A very good piece of writing from a veteran calling out the odious actions of three groups.

    Consider also:

To have the architects of those useless, endless wars now turn on the one president who really cared about not squandering our lives feels like an injustice. Many of us stood by those neocons — even defended them in our private lives against slanderous lies — and now they turn on us by opposing the one man who vows that these sorts of wars will end. It is painful and feels like a betrayal.

I’ll start with the neocon “chickenhawks.” Maybe it’s not fair to blame Liz Cheney for the GWOT as her father was its prime architect and not Liz herself, but she has come to serve as a symbol of the many advocates for useless, endless wars who never put their own lives (or the lives of their children) on the line, and who now support Kamala Harris. Liz Cheney stands as a symbol in this regard, and she stands for the many establishment Republicans who would rather support a radical Democrat than the only president in decades who did not start new wars.

When I returned from Iraq in 2004, I was shocked at how disconnected the news reports were from the reality on the ground, and I was shocked to see those same Democrats who sent us to war now suddenly turning against our mission. The daily march of Democrats with giant Dick Cheney puppet heads on the National Mall and the endless chants of “Bush Lied, People Died” served precisely the purpose AQI and the Taliban intended: to break the national will. To many of us returning vets, it felt that our own countrymen were giving aid and comfort to our enemy, helping them fulfill that enemy’s strategic objective. This too felt like a betrayal.

which makes a good case for the unique betrayal of the Cheney’s.

Bush 43 was the focus of continual slanderous lies and an attempted kneecapping by Dan Rather and CBS news with totally false allegations about his National Guard service. Since leaving the office he has passed every opportunity to use his position as an ex-president to defend the republic from bad policy, unconstitutional excess, and enemies within. Give him a tiny bit of credit now for refusing to get pushed into the cesspool.

Dick Cheney got a series of deferments that kept him out of the draft. One of those deferments was due to his wife’s pregnancy with the daughter they would name Lynn. I remember the “slanderous lies” that were directed against Dick Cheney and the accusations that he planned the expansion of his family in response to changes in the deferral rules. It boggles the mind that either Cheney would be cozying up to those same people. They must have torn out their moral compass and mounted an edibles dispenser.

Despite bearing multiple wounds from the feckless and traitorous leftists, Dick and his daughter Liz have spent years splashing in the cesspool with them. Dick has demonstrated bad judgement, whereas Liz has also demonstrated a willingness to violate her oath of office, the laws of the United States, and probably much more in her conduct. Contemptible liars and worse, they will be cited by history as examples of hate twisted beyond all reason, and the conclusion is that they hate themselves more than anything.

FERC exists to slow down the USA economy, just a bunch of mostly useless bureaucrats.

Apparently someone found some rare form of bees that live in the area proposed for the facility. Or placed the bees in the area. Just about anything can be blocked by looking at life forms hard enough. This will quickly become the new form of blocking any expansion or project that is good for the people, and yes, even for the environment.

The people that don’t want something are very good at finding some judge they can bribe convince that the project should be blocked.

Locally a developer wants to put in a housing development. Adding more homes would seem to be good when just two weeks ago Knoxville was complaining there was not enough housing. When a developer wants to help with the problem, the locals balk. Especially people living in the area. NIMBY’s all the way.

In this case the site proposed was used for some type of munitions, or explosive manufacturing. People are concerned something will explode. Well hello fungus breath, that is the problem of the developer and people working on the site, not the homeowners that live a mile away.

The Oregon logging industry was almost destroyed by the Spotted Owl with the area being its only habitat. Turns out someone lied. The Spotted Owl has a large range. Now the roads that were maintained by the logging companies are useless. When a fire starts there is no easy access and people complain it is the fault of the logging companies for not maintaining the roads into an area the logging companies were refused access.

The bell curve is starting to look like a ski slope.

I dread the day Apple is forced to open their platform to “side loading”.

Terrorist tries to blow up Nashville power plant using weapon of mass destruction

    By Melissa Koenig For Dailymail.Com

    Published: 21:34 EST, 4 November 2024 | Updated: 22:17 EST, 4 November 2024

A homegrown terrorist allegedly tried to blow up a Nashville power plant using what federal prosecutors have referred to as a weapon of mass destruction.

Skyler Philippi, 24, of Columbia, Tennessee has been arrested for allegedly plotting to destroy the power plant using explosives attached to a drone, prosecutors announced on Monday.

They say Philippi was trying to further his white supremacist goals and believed that blowing up the power plant would usher in a ‘New Age.’

‘As charged, Skyler Philippi believed he was moments away from launching an attack on a Nashville energy facility to further his violent white supremacist ideology – but the FBI [had] already compromised his plot,’ Attorney General Merrick Garland said.

‘This case serves as yet another warning to those seeking to sow violence and chaos in the name of hatred by attacking our country’s critical infrastructure: the Justice Department will find you, we will disrupt your plot and we will hold you accountable.’

    – They didn’t “find” him, he was ratted out by an informant, and then groomed by the FBI.  You can’t “blow up a … power plant” with explosives carried by a hobby drone.   And a pipe bomb isn’t a pipe bomb if it’s “inert”.  It’s a prop for the photo op.   Don’t even get me started on the ‘enhancement’ that “weapons of mass destruction” gets the DA.   For a device that can affect one or two people, or about 100 ft max.

Where’s the Epstein client list?   Where are the men (and high ranking female .gov employee) that used the trafficked girls?  Why aren’t they doing time?  (I know, rhetorical.)

    Nov 1, 2022 – News

Some Texas schools closing for Election Day due to safety concerns

Some Texas schools will be closed on Nov. 8 as districts navigate the safety risks that come with being polling sites in the wake of school shootings and threats to poll workers.

Yes, but: That won’t include Houston ISD. The largest school district in the state, serving more than 194,000 students, will mostly remain open.

Why it matters: Campuses have been used as polling sites for years, but the influx of visitors during school hours now poses security challenges.

    • Districts either have to close, forcing parents to find child care alternatives, or figure out how to reconfigure safety plans and the flow of traffic.

What’s happening: Austin, San Antonio and the Dallas-Fort Worth schools are giving students and teachers Election Day off.

    • Districts in those three cities explicitly cited safety concerns as prompting the decision.

Zoom in: HISD made Nov. 3 a holiday for the 2020 election, but the decision does not apply to this year.

    • Nearly 400 Houston-area schools are Election Day polling sites, including some in HISD.

However, more than a dozen other Harris County school districts will have the day off at least for students, including:

Context: A wave of threats and disruptions to the electoral process prompted the Department of Justice to launch a law enforcement task force in July to ensure the safety of the front line of democracy.

    • Per Texas Election Code, schools must be made available for use as polling sites if needed, thus making campuses part of safety conversations.

Between the lines: The day of the Robb Elementary shooting, coincided with run-off elections throughout the state.

    • The school was not a polling site, but the tragedy highlighted potential vulnerabilities in campuses being open to the public in the electoral process.
