Still hot and humid, but not raining… at least not in the forecast. We have had some overcast and threatening clouds, despite the clear forecast though. Might get some more. Yesterday was really humid and ended up in the mid 90s so I didn’t do much outdoors.
I ended up driving the kid around a bit, and going to the grocery store. No good meat on sale, but some indian pouch side dishes were $1 off. Picked up a dozen of them. Hamburger wasn’t over $5, so I picked up some ground chuck 80/20. I don’t have as much in the freezer as usual.
Spent some more time getting the kid from the mall later too. She is learning to delight in winding me up. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, she is my daughter after all.
Did some domestic bliss, but have plenty more to do. Moved some stuff to the “goes to the BOL pile”.
Fixed the cable on the garage door so that it closes flat to the ground. One edge was up about 3 inches which left room for the possum to get in. Maybe Mr Possum won’t be visiting so often now.
Did some computer work, cleaning and organizing. I’ve got stuff I should have done with the new year that I still need to get to. Meanwhile, I’m still ripping DVDs and CDs as I sit here.
Had a chat with my neighbor. She’s very concerned about the election, the chance they might cheat and install the Kamel, and what happens after. It’s the most frank discussion we’ve had in a couple of years. I assured her I was worried about the same things. Nice to know we’re on the same page. Most of the neighbors are so much younger than me, and they grew up with PC and newspeak, and are VERY reluctant to have any conversations where they might say something ‘not right’. They are very conflict averse so while I believe they aren’t Kamel supporters, I’m not sure. No yard signs in any case.
One thing I’m sure of is that bad times are coming. No matter who “wins” in November, it’s gonna be the sux for all the rest of us. Stacks will help.

Linux ate all of the vendors lunches in the late 90s with the clean sheet POSIX design and ability to run on commodity Intel/Windows hardware.
Plus, Sun made some poor engineering decisions during that time, which they kept big customers quiet about with NDAs along with strategic deployment of hookers and steaks.
A lot of big customers also went down the SGI cul-de-sac. Great hardware but cr*p software. Everyone wanted the machines which made “Jurassic Park” so they could play with the graphics demos.
Run “Disk Cleanup” and see how much drive space the utility reports as “Temporary Files”.
That’s most likely the issue.
C:\\Windows\\Temp will have some of the files, but the most likely file system location for the wasted space is in C:\\Users\\[username]\\AppData\\Local\\Temp.
Every now and then, I boot a Linux partion on my Windows systems and clean out the Temp directories.
Disk Cleanup will not do anything about most of the “Temporary Files” even if you check that box.
I just cleaned out the Temp directories on my main Windows laptop this weekend. 15 GB.
Late but possible answer: I listen to the county Sherriff’s Office on the scanner. 911 knows the number of times the number has called, whether the Police have responded before, and the name of the Officer that responded. They also relay the sex and circumstances they hear on the call (background voices, yelling, etc.). The report every call to the Sherriff’s office even when it is reported as a mistake.

Hmm, tried youtube on my linux box with straight FFox. No sit n spin with generic install. No sit n spin when I log into my youtube account (so it’s not a problem or ‘feature’ with my account.) No sit n spin when I add uBlock origin to FFox.
Conclusion? Either my FFox install on my main machine is borked, or it’s something about the machine itself. I think I’ll try freeing up disk space first.

If making more room on C doesn’t help, I’ll try watching youtube from chrome or edge to see if I can narrow it down to the FFox install.

FFox updated. For months it told me there was a newer version available, but when I tried to d/l it, I got an error that my OS was too old and so no update for me. Today I allowed it to update, it did the d/l and restarted and now youtube seems to be working normally.
Some days I hate computers. And programmers.
