Probably starting out around 70F and getting warmer, maybe into the high 80sF… and for sure it will be damp. It was 72F and condensing when I went to bed. Apparently lots of places got lots of rain yesterday. I never saw any, but I did see wet roads. My weather station here said we bot 1.75 inches in the last couple of days. Lake is a few inches above normal too.
I completed almost all of my tasks yesterday. I didn’t get to the Lowe’s on the way up, so I’m missing a couple of things that would be useful, but I’ll either manage, or do something else. I’m now a boat owner… although it’s not yet in the water. That will happen later today.
This weekend is birthday stuff for D2, so I’ll be doing some special cooking today. And it’s the annual resident “clean up the common areas” day and member meeting. We have an expired POA not an active HOA, so it’s all voluntary at this point, but there is still a male Karen who thinks he can dictate behavior. He can’t. He still tries every year. On the plus side, he pays more than his dues so that covers for some of the owners who choose not to pay. They still complain about the condition of the roads though. If you aren’t paying for the upkeep, it’s pretty arrogant to complain that the upkeep isn’t good enough…
I’ll be working to improve my situation, and I’ll be working on meatspace things too. Fitting into community takes work and time. There isn’t any shortcut either. If you expect to stay in place or to get to a BOL, you better be working the human factors now.
And stacking of course.

Disney was hoping for “Deadpool & Wolverine” level success for “The Fantastic Four” before Pedro Pascal, aka Stuntman #12, opened his mouth.
Ah, well, maybe “Lilo & Stitch” will work.

Not getting a lot of press is that a third “Harry Potter” themed land will open with Super Mario and Donkey Kong in Orlando at the end of May.
Universal already announced that FastPass access to the Ministry of Magic-themed ride will be limited due to anticipated demand.
Beyond Schadenfreude, you can always count on The Mail to work in the Trump angle.
As for Prince Andrew and the Epstein mess, the “Sherlock” episode “A Scandal in Belgravia” is more relevant now than when it first aired.

I have to agree. “Beans, bullets, and bandages” will have higher trade value when TEOTWAWKI. Bullion will have trade value when the warlords emerge. Keep a small amount of gold/silver on hand.
I don’t consider myself an expert, but I’ve never really had a problem with Calibre. If you are on Windows, follow this YT’rs video. I did it with Window 11 running in a M4 Mac VM. The only problem I had was activating my Kindle app on W11.
Best Way to Remove DRM from Amazon Books in 2025 (Method 1/2)
Look at it as a Saturday afternoon IT project. Get a mug of Irish coffee and git r done.
I bought a Kindle book yesterday and ran it through this process. It worked without problem.
@Lynn
You asked to determine the difference between junk silver coins and latter day production. Beyond just the date imprint, 1964 or earlier, post ’64 slugs have a red edge lacking in the silver coinage.
Youtube videos suggest “mining” bank rolls of coinage by examining the edge of stacks as a means of finding junk silver for “free”. At this late date, I suspect more effort than reward.
At any rate, stacking silver, junk or rounds or bars, is something to do after 3B’s are an accomplished fact.
Or (silver) coin collecting??
I bought a small amount of “Stackers” from SD Bullion. Just to clink them around in my hand like a stack of poker chips as a fidget thing. I can also use them as blunt shurikens if some vampires break in.
Vertical… and coffee in the cup. Bacon on the plate. Egg in my belly.

The usual group is doing cleanup on the HOA lot and boat ramp. Not me. Feeding kids and playing Dr Dad. D2 has an irritation in her eye. Poor kid.

Drop a silver quarter and a clad quarter on pavement or the anvil on a vise. Silver rings.
There’s a YT video where a guy has a non-ringing Krugerrand that he suspects is a fake. He tears it apart and finds that the planchet was split and defective.
So, back spasms this morning, I won’t be doing much.
It looks like there’s a weather front moving in so I wouldn’t be getting much done in the yard anyway.
Still, annoying.
As usual with Apple, getting something done is easy, or next to impossible. The wife wanted a game. No problem. We have family sharing and the purchase should go against my account. Not so fast fungus man. The pay window said there was no valid purchase information, clicking next was a blank dialog box.
I could not add payment information to her account because are managed by the family sharing account holder. My account is set up with three payment options and a default.
I had to remove the wife’s computer from family sharing, set up her own payment method, purchase the game, the add her back to family sharing. Not so fast fungus man, now the the shared iCloud storage no longer works and her iCloud account is out of storage. The free 5GB is not enough.
Rambled through the settings again and found where iCloud storage can be shared.
But an expired Discover card is now showing on the payment and shipping address screen. Got you again fungus man. Yep, so I just left it.
Between switching between my iPad and her computer futzing with settings I had enough for today.
Somewhere in this process Apple said my password was invalid. So I changed the password to what I had. Nope fungus man, you cannot change the password to the existing password. Grrrrrr.
I’m getting this on a lot of sites these days. Can’t reuse a password. My milspec site won’t let me reuse the last three passwords, nor a password that has too many same characters as the last password.
I don’t have nearly as many AppleProblems that you do, Mr. Ray. But then, I light a candle on Steve Jobs birthday every year and praise his carcass.
Elysium, here I come!
I don’t know much about Apple devices, other than seeing my students struggle. My impression is that they are probably good for nontechnical folks who only do standard things.
For technical students, who by definition are doing nonstandard things, they are pretty horrible: the system seems to fight you every step of the way.
The biggest problem has been with the payments on family accounts. Getting that set just right has not been easy. A lot of tedious settings, sometimes buried a couple levels deep, making it hard to find. Some settings for share pay can only be done on the Apple account website, others require intervention on my iPad.
I light farts. Could that be the problem?
Yes, and that may be my problem. Over thinking, doing what I think is rational and reasonable. But not so, according to Apple.
Everything is pretty much set up now the way I think it should be set up. I was missing some setting the family sharing that were either on the Apple account website or on the account settings on the iPad. I went through so many iterations I am really not certain.
“I light farts. Could that be the problem?”
Open flame too close to your brain? Nah.

Scott is far too lenient, reserved, and polite.
I saw a video of a Soviet 4 gauge shotgun. Seems they had some 23mm cannon barrels that weren’t up to snuff, and waste not want not. Why you’d want a shell that costs $50 fire fire and $40 to reload is a mystery–or was–but USSR. It did an impressive job on a ballistic jell dummy with a kilo of cherry jelly in the head, but I couldn’t help thinking “duckbill choke”.

Nah. If Schumer is primaried, I want him to live a long time with the shame of losing to AOC, whose previous job literally was Shot Girl.
The only thing lower would be Bottle Girl at the strip club around the corner from work, in the Target parking lot.
“Real Minimum Wage”
https://areaocho.com/real-minimum-wage/
“Last year, Sam’s Club bowed to pressure and increased their minimum wage to $16 per hour. Proving that the minimum wage is actually zero, the company announced this week that they will be eliminating all cashier and cash register positions.”
“The system will have customers scan items as they put them in their shopping cart, with the charges going to the customer’s credit card as they exit the store. An employee spot checks the cart of each customer as they exit. The system was rolled out in 2016, and it has been relatively popular with customers.”
“Other positions to be automated are automated forklifts and a pizza robot in the café.”
“Unskilled labor is pricing itself out of the market.”
This should be interesting. One wonders how robust the system will be versus honest mistakes and real scammers.
I will be the person making the honest mistakes.
“Did Covid lockdowns and school closures swing young people sharply right?”
https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/did-covid-lockdowns-and-school-closures
“Two new polls offer powerful evidence the answer is yes.”
“Not everyone goes to college, of course. But as David Zweig said in our interview on his smart new book on the disaster of Covid school closures, “Childhood is achingly brief, and they stole time from these kids, and they stole experiences.””
“They — the Donald Trump-hating Democratic blob that includes the public health establishment, teachers’ unions, academia, and the media — sure did.”
“And two new polls strongly suggest people who were under 25 in 2020 have not forgotten or forgiven. The first poll has gotten some attention. The second, which provides even more powerful evidence of the shift, has not. It should.”
I hope that the young people are coming around because there are a bunch of crazy people out there. My prime example are the two judges that have been arrested by ICE for harboring illegals.
Trump lost his nerve and was just as responsible as the Democrats.
Never forget.
Never forgive unless forgiveness is sought.
So far, it has not.
The way people voted in 2020 was about Ferengi Rule of Acquisition 125, whether or not they were consciously aware of how the decision was reached.
Rule 125 is instinctual.
Well, we have a boat, in the water, and it runs great so far. Missed hitting an underwater stump by a hair. Then one of the neighbors chased us down and did a tour of the lake with us to point out the underwater obstructions.
It’s good to be part of the group, my efforts are paying off.

Headed down to the dock for a tiny little fire and some radio.

Always carry a spare prop, key, and cotter pin on Texas lakes. Or else a pair of paddles. Been there done that. Oklahoma lakes too.
I can remember dad yelling “don’t drop the prop” when was trying to put the spare prop on while making sure that that the groove hit the key.
And always carry a pair of paddles anyway. They are good for beating the water moccasins off the boat. Had a three footer fall in the bow from a tree when we were fishing by the bank one day. Dad beat the snot out of that snake. Me, I was 6 or 7 and just screamed.
Trump lost his nerve and was just as responsible as the Democrats.
Trump did not know that Fauci was lying to him about the R of 3.0. Turned out the real R was 0.03.
Fauci should have been tarred and feathered and run out of the USA on boxcar into the Gulf Of America.
Radio was really quiet tonight. Nice little fire though. Damp, very damp, and low 70sF.
Time for a shower and bed.

Tom Knighton backs up on his asinine post earlier this week.
Total loss of the little credibility that he had, and I’m not too thrilled with Bearing Arms, either.
Though he then still makes this statement: “Are there still concerns with the Sig P320? Yeah, there are based on what I’ve seen.”
Would you feel safe carrying it concealed with one in the chamber?
Yup. I’ve started working for the local town on Friday mornings. I’m refusing any pay, because I still have a full-time job, just one where I can organize my time. It’s nice to do something physical, after spending hours at the computer. More importantly, this is a good way to get to know the people on the ground. Also, the town can use the help – they only have two full-time workers to maintain the infrastructure, and one of them had a major shoulder operation, and is on sick leave for another couple of months.
Last Friday, I spend the morning with my chainsaw, cutting up lots of branches that broke off from the late, heavy snow. Lots of branches and entire trees came down – I expect that will be my task for the next couple of weeks as well.
My bad.
I have no idea what people were thinking in 2020.
Everyone had the luxury of conempating life living on $6-7 Trillion of stimulus sloshing around until Corporate America figured out how many of the wooden nickels they could accept before prices started to create a problem.
