Warm, damp, even hot later. It got well into the 80s yesterday, and didn’t cool down until dusk. I expect the same today. I’m hoping for more clear though. I like seeing the sun.
I spent yesterday running around. I did a pickup early, then went to my client’s house. After troubleshooting, I decided that it wasn’t something easy to fix, like smoked gear, it was the cat cable that connects the stuff in the front attic to the network switch in the rack. That is not an easy cable to run… so replacing that is on my list now too. Then it was kid taxi service, dinner, and a few videos before bed. I did manage to get a couple of small things done too, including portioning the hamburger I bought, and getting it bagged and frozen.
And wasting time on the internet with my friends.
Today I’m doing home stuff in the morning and pickups in the afternoon. I need to order some stuff for my client too, and I don’t have time to get back to his house and run the cable today. Too many kid things in the early afternoon. I’ll get back there Wed. and hopefully be able to swap out the rest of the damaged gear too.
Too busy to engage in tomfoolery or play the jackanapes today. But keep it in mind when out and about… others might.
I’ll be working on improving my position, with cash, and stuff. And I’ll stack it, like every good boy and girl should.

Happy April from this fool!
Doc. thinks I have walking around pneumonia. Hello antibiotic pills that look like something one would give a horse. Let’s hope they work. Hurray for modern medicine.
Take care, @Denis.
@Denis, as long as it’s not a horse suppository….
Hope you feel better soon.

65F this morning, looks like we could be getting into 10 at 10 weather… 65 at 630, 75 at 730, 85 at 830… we will at some point, but usually later in the year.

lunch and coffee are made, now D1 wants some eggs. I will make some.
Then it’ll be time to wait for the bus.

That fatness study has some issues.
They gave quadruple weight to “City Friendliness toward an Active Lifestyle” which they had previously determined.
They give more weight to high cholesterol, when there isn’t a strong link between diet and blood cholesterol.
There “limited access to healthy food” –This metric measures the share of urban-area residents who earn a low income and live more than 1 mile from a grocery store or supermarket. only POOR people count for this.
I don’t think this one matters at all Number of Health Educators and Community Health Workers per Capita. People know what not eating right looks like, or they follow the educators and get diabetes…. “Educators” are the problem.
I’m guessing that the numbers would skew dramatically by race and by income… with poor brown-ish people having higher rates. Poor white people are pretty fat too. POOR being the main link.

Stick a fork in Nissan. Trying to make the Leaf work broke the company.
Honda will be back for the body-on-frame truck platforms when wiser heads prevail in that C-suite.
This is the second year we’ve had the same guy driving our bus route. He’s to the minute consistent every day. For two years, after the first week or two, he’s been spot on. Very occasionally he’s a minute or two later.
Compare and contrast with our first year, where we had a different female driver almost every day. Sometimes they’d be minutes early, sometimes 20 minutes late. Sometimes they wouldn’t come at all.
There were other differences in socioeconomic status, as evidenced by clothing, speech, appearance, but it wouldn’t be pc to mention those.
IDK why this guy is driving a bus for the district, but I’m glad someone competent has chosen to make our lives a little bit better.

People realized that they will have to get back to work.
I think that the student loan decision from the Supreme Court in 2023 was a wake up call for a lot more than just the borrowers.
“IDK why this guy is driving a bus for the district, but I’m glad someone competent has chosen to make our lives a little bit better.”
Homemade cookies would let him know he’s appreciated. Letter to bus company would be good, too.
Denis, yikes, hang in there, get well soon!

IIRC, “Dogma” is not currently available streaming or on home video because Kevin Smith did not want Harvey Weinstein to make any more money from the film.
Something must have changed with regard to ownership.
Or harvey is too sick, and still locked up, so can’t enjoy the money anyway?
n
Give this a skim:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogma_(film)#Rights_issues
I have it on DVD, so it’s never been much of an issue for me. However, if you’re a Kevin Smith fan it’s absence from streaming is annoying.
The rights belong to someone else now. The Interwebz are unclear as to whether the new owner is Smith or a more acceptable third party, but Kevin Smith on physical media has been very profitable for Lionsgate. Someone else may have wanted a piece of that action.
As Smith himself once said, “It is show business, not show friends.”
Another motivating factor was probably Chris Rock resurfacing in the Netflix special.
I would point to Rock as the “lost” apostle as the aspect of the film which truly upsets the pentecostal types who made a stink about the movie.
Dogma is on yify. Probably all the Askewverse flicks.
“In A Supreme Election, Wisconsin Voters Will Decide Voter ID Question”
https://thefederalist.com/2025/04/01/in-a-supreme-election-wisconsin-voters-will-decide-voter-id-question/
“Wisconsin voters willl decide who controls their Supreme Court and a constitutional amendment on voter ID in Tuesday’s spring election.”
“While Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election is in the national spotlight, there’s an important election integrity issue on Tuesday’s ballot as well. In fact, election law watchdogs will tell you that the Supreme Court race and a referendum on enshrining the Badger State’s voter ID law into the Wisconsin constitution go hand-in-hand.”
One can only hope that Wisconsin will go conservative.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/04/elon-musk-drops-bombshell-says-arrest-is-imminent/
“The theft, Musk claimed, is part of a sophisticated financial theft operation tied not only to illegal immigrants defrauding U.S. social welfare systems—but also to widespread voter fraud enabled by the Democrat Party’s open-borders agenda.”
“Speaking directly to voters in the Badger State, Musk painted a grim picture of a government drowning in incompetence and corruption.”
““The government has got the thorniest computer problem I’ve ever seen,” he said.”
““Thousands of systems—many of them are very, very old systems. Some of the software is older than me.””
“He slammed decades-long boondoggles like the IRS modernization project, started in 1995, which bureaucrats perpetually claim is “five years away” from completion. “These projects are just ridiculous,” Musk said.”
I am not surprised at all.

“No One is Coming to Save You”
https://areaocho.com/no-one-is-coming-to-save-you-2/
“The Supreme Court recently upheld a Biden era ATF rule that requires serial numbers, background checks and a dealer to transfer their “buy, build, shoot” kits- ruling that selling a kit that could readily be turned into a firearm is the same thing as actually selling a firearm. This decision is going to put Polymer80 out of business. You can read the actual decision here (pdf alert, hosted offsite). It’s a major defeat for liberty, and a bellwether of things to come from this court. The only two justices who dissented were Thomas and Alito. Now you know why the left wants Alito gone.”
“The decision for now is narrowly targeted at the Polymer80 kit, which came with the unfinished frame, the jig, and the tools needed to convert the parts into a firearm. The court’s majority specifically said that this applies only to parts sold as a complete kit, so for now 80% frames and receivers from makers like 80% Arms are completely legal, but you can expect that to be dealt with in later courts.”
“I have said for awhile that Trump’s best attribute was his SCOTUS picks. Now that it appears that those picks and Congress have again turned their backs on the 2A crowd (as Republicans always seem to do, once they have the pro-2A vote in their pocket), the only difference between the two parties is the speed with which we are headed off the cliff. No matter what Trump does, he can’t overcome the inertia of the uniparty.”
“You can read the informational post from 80% Arms here. The reason that 80% is getting away with this, is that they are not selling the jigs or tools needed to finish their lowers. They are continuing to sell 80% AR lowers and 76% Glock lowers, even though the Glock lowers are sold out.”
“As I have pointed out time and again on this blog, no one is coming to save you, and there is no voting your way out of this. We are too far down the path to totalitarianism. SCOTUS is not going to be a big friend to the gun community, and this Trump administration is a mere speed bump on the way to tyranny. At this point, we are looking at a pretty bleak future for the country. The median income in the US is just shy of $40,000 a year- but those who make less than $40k don’t pay any income taxes, once you factor in refundable tax credits. Those who make less than $25k don’t pay any taxes of any kind. Those who vote for a living are out voting those who work for a living. There is no coming back from that.”

“If you haven’t yet read the two New York Times reports from last weekend about how deeply embroiled the US was in the Ukraine war, you really should find a way to do so. If their claims are correct, there was ample justification under the laws of war for Russia to bombard NATO bases in Europe, and target senior US and allied officers for assassination as active belligerents. It boggles the mind to realize that under President Biden – who, to be fair, may not have known just how militant his subordinates had become – the United States became literally an active co-belligerent with Ukraine in the war against Russia. There’s no other way to describe it.”

DOJ will get a conviction and death sentence. They need to fast-track the trial and appeals process, demanding, if necessary, that the defense attorneys quit jacking around and spend 100% of their time preparing.
Convict, complete the appeals and execute in 90 days. Evidence has him cold and his victim is dead. Justice delayed is justice denied.
Judge blocked the CIA from firing people. “They didn’t follow the rules.” Is there anybody that believes that? Senator Kennedy had a great session laying out why these judges are wrong. He says they can’t apply these rulings to an entire agency, only those before him in court.

>>Has there been a problem with the air cooled battery pack in the Leaf ? One of my employees has a 2022 ??? Leaf with the 240 mile battery pack. He loves it.
I love my LEAF as well (1998 bought used) and will check out the new one once it hits the dealers. I see they’ve addressed the other big issue that they should have fixed by now – they’ve finally dropped the CHAdeMO charger interface (turned out to their BetaMax to everyone else in the US’s VHS) in favor to the Tesla NACS interface, which, surprise, surprise, has become the defacto US standard.
With regard to liquid cooling, in comes into play in two circumstances; one is when fast charging (Level 1), which can max out at ~500 amps / ~500 volts DC, which as you may suppose, can generate a fair amount of heat in the battery back; and the other is when driving in extreme heat, which the car will look to moderate within the pack. In both scenarios, liquid cooling is far superior to forced air cooling, the latter is what the LEAF has now. (I have seen on one of the LEAF forums someone having jury-rigged two large PC fans blowing air into one end of the battery pack. Don’t recall the specific improvements achieved.)

IF I needed more evidence that the phone is listening to me…
At the kid’s concert tonight they played “Oye como va” by Santana and did a very good job. I noticed when one of the kids bent over and picked up a cowbell, which he then used in the song. He’s the same kid that has been doing the audio for the plays, that I’ve been working with, so afterwards I told him that the first thought thru my mind when I saw it was “More cowbell”. Which he didn’t really get, it being a meme from before we called them memes….
I told my wife the same thing.
I couldn’t remember the origin though, thinking it might have been The Far Side.
Then this pops up in my youtube shorts…
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6hz_gy8nTFs?feature=share
which is Will Ferrel talking about Christopher Walken and the “more cowbell” skit (from SNL I guess.)
Yeah, they really are spying on us and controlling our reality.

It took about 4 hours to show up.
RIP Val KIlmer
— loved watching Val Kilmer on screen. From Top Secret to Real Genius, forgot he was in Willow, to Heat, and the Top Gun movie…
In fact I’d seen an interview, maybe Letterman, where he was plugging his new movie, Top Gun, and I went to see Top Gun thinking it was his movie, not even knowing about Tom Cruise… never made it to the theater that night as I had a very bad motorcycle accident which gave me the scar on my chin and a limp, as well as some mental or brain injury as my signature later changed completely…
I eventually did see Top Gun, and was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t his movie.
RIP indeed.

I doubt that China would use all of their nukes on one event, you gotta save some for the next event. And I doubt that all of those nukes are for ICBMs.

China can’t tile a hotel bathroom without skimping and cheating. Appearance is far more important than substance, and no one will admit to failure because the consequences are too high.

Did any Tampa Bay Rays videos show up as well?
The Rays were into “more cowbell” for a while, to the point that they handed out the bells on special nights.
Everything goes back to the SNL video.
BTW, in the SNL sketch, Walken identifies himself as Bruce Dickinson.
Dickinson did not produce the album, but he did produce a lot of CD reissues back in the 2000s, and that list probably included Blue Oyster Cult’s “Agents of Fortune”, the album including “Don’t Fear the Reaper”.
Technically minded guys are often gear whores… I know I am. Never got into snap on, but I have bought tools for a single use, knowing I’d probably never use them again.
I’ve also bought tools just because they were cool.
I try not to do either these days.
I can’t imagine that panel removal tool being enough of a time saver to justify its cost though.
