Wed. Mar. 26, 2025 – Dr visits and all kind of messing around…

By on March 26th, 2025 in culture, decline and fall

Cool and clear, chance of rain. Like yesterday, only 100% more rain. The rain we did get was in the middle of the night, with drying ground in the morning. That is the BEST kind of rain. And we’re 3/4 of the way through March and we have summer highs. It was well into the 80s yesterday, with 84F as the sun went down. After that it was perfect weather for driving around with the windows down. So I did.

Did some work at D2’s school to start off the day. Got most of the sound work done, and the one lighting task I had on my list. Spent some time talking with the teacher, who is only part time, and does a lot of it as a volunteer. She and her husband seem to be good people.

I was still being careful all morning, but my back was loosening up. I went to the chiropractor after school and got some relief as things moved back into place.

I spent the afternoon doing pickups at a couple of auctioneers. Then I went grocery shopping.

We’re paying $4 per dozen large white eggs. Roughly. I buy the 18 packs for $6. Single packs of 12 were ‘limit five’ but 18 packs were unlimited. I picked up a new flavor ice cream from Blue Bell– banana fudge. I’m not a big fan of either, but why not try it? It has a “thin” taste. Not a lot of flavor, and it doesn’t stick around. Trying new flavors is cheaper than getting a girlfriend or a sports car…

Today I’ve got Dr visit in the morning, then pickups, then kid stuff. I might try to get to my client’s house to do some diagnostics and triage. Seems they got a bad lightning storm… and now some other stuff doesn’t work right. Lightning plays hell on electronics. I’ll try to fit another chiropractic appointment in too.

Then Thursday I’ll spend the day working at my client’s place.

Meanwhile, stack something to eat. Got spices? Got enough sugar to can fruit? Salt to do pickles?

    First post.

I read the obits in our local paper every other day to make sure that I am in not in them.

I found my name once in San Antonio. Some guy with the exact same name. Same guy that screwed up my credit rating because we shared the exact same name. About the same age. He was a real deadbeat and it took some time to get his really bad financial scewups off my report. He was murdered. I can’t say I was sad.

Not long ago, you could see that blue streak on Tulsi Gabbard’s page at the WEF web site, helping to drive that agenda along with fellow member Wee Pierre.

Never forget, whether with the Orange Man or any of the people under his “big tent”.

Trump hired Gabbard to do a particular job.

It’s middling overcast today, with a threat of rain in the air.  Warmed up some too.

Reminds me of that old wisdom I once heard from a friend:  If it floats, flies, or fornicates, it’s cheaper to rent than buy.

Of course, he’s lost money on boaats, planes, and is in the highest maintenance marriage I know.

If you’re married the girlfriend ends up costing you half of everything you have. The car-  probably not half.

getting a girlfriend is much cheaper than getting a sports car

    keeping either is expensive

getting rid of a sports car is much cheaper than getting rid of a girlfriend

snd although you know when a car is gone, you’re seldom sure about the girlfriend

I found the article about my daughter’s friend’s father’s crash. It lists it as a single vehicle crash around midnight going too fast lost control at the exit flip the car. No mention of bullet holes in the vehicle like the kid said. But it is listed as being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office of vehicular crimes.

Mom has started a GoFundMe where she lists the guy as an angel and a good provider which is curious because he spent most the last 10 years in prison and is asking for money to bury him and to make their rent and stuff. Of course he was not paying the rent anyway. Mom is of course not a great person which is why daughter’s friend wants out of the household.

We have a great deal of Sympathy for the daughter. Even scumbag drug dealers have kids who love them. But I’m not paying the dirtbags rent. Does that make me the bad guy?

  14. Ray Thompson says:

But I’m not paying the dirtbags rent. Does that make me the bad guy?

No, not at all. The same thing happens here. Some piece of mouse turd gets killed, or dies from drugs, and the family paints them as the person who would give anyone the shirt off their back. When in reality the person stole from family, takes packages from porches, walks out of the grocery store without paying, etc. Real world welfare king or queen.

Then when the person dies the family will start a GoFundMe to pay for funeral expenses, food for the family, utilities, rent, etc.

Uh, nope. If the person and family were that irresponsible when the person was alive, there is no guarantee the money donated will go for the intended purpose. These families are not getting a dime from my pockets. They chose that lifestyle, so live it. Tough noogies.

There is no way Dooshberg was added to the Signal chat by accident. Our family uses Signal, so I’m familiar with the app. Some RINO or DeepState PLT got him added to continue the resistance. You still have to use a phone number to register on Signal, but you can now obscure that with a “handle” for chats. If you don’t absolutely know who’s behind a handle, you wouldn’t add to a chat. Maybe the Widow Jobs got him to reveal the chat. What kind of patriot would do this just to GET tRUMP! A commie, pinko bastard, that’s who.

I’m not complaining but I’m complaining.  I appreciate the very very unexpected $25,000 Ma Bell sent as a death benefit.  I shoved it into a couple of 26 week t-bills.  It came from out of the blue, thank you nice lady at Fidelity!  I appreciate they withheld $2500, too. Kind of blew my “tax budget” in a way.

I’m getting a $1300 refund from the $5000 total withheld.   I suppose I should feel all patriotic and she’it that I’ve contributed $10 a day towards wasteful government spending…. I don’t, not an iota.  Maybe I need a few beers to change my mind.

    I have a dog question.

Fred was a Britanny Spaniel.  He never turned gray or changed color with age. Lived to be almost 16.   But, white dog… Wilma didn’t change much. Her hips went out at 15 but otherwise she was good for a couple more years.    Dino was mostly black/dark reddish brown and his face turned silver and he was almost 16 like his dad, Fred.

Penny will be 14 in October.  Her face has turned white.  Her feet, too.  Actually, she’s gotten kinda gray all over.  The color going up her legs.  She’s getting creaky.  So, maybe I understand this….  I am SO not looking forward to this.

What I don’t know is how dog noses turn pink with age.  I’ve seen old dogs with pink noses.  I figure it’s like turning gray?  But I’ve never asked “how old is the puppy?”.

Anyway.  Buddy the Beagle was maybe 5 or 6 and a bag o’ bones when he showed up.  Just by the tartar on his teeth.   Here  we are 4+ years later and his nose is turning pink.

    How long do beagles live?

And… why does it feel like everything around me is dying?

Ah.  Welcome to Paul’s House of Death.  Shrug.

I had court yesterday.  To probate his will.  Seems there is a 4 year limit to get it done and then it gets expensive.

So it’s my turn in front of the judge.  “Has he been deceased less than four years?”   Ah yeah…. “He’s been gone three weeks shy of today, I saw his eyes dilate and I really don’t know what in my head is keeping track of all of this.  But after 42 years, whatever.”

Judge was cool.  My lawyer was cool.  Wide eyes, both.  I’m happy I didn’t say “shit” or “what the fuck”.  It’s probated.  I try to not cuss like a fucking sailor…. mostly.

  25. Ken Mitchell says:

“Forecasters are predicting that three to six storms will directly impact the U.S. this year.”

Not much of a “prediction”, with error bars THAT  large. And which “forecasters” are these? And will ANYBODY follow up next year to check the accuracy of those predictions? I predict not!

I asked Grok: “How many hurricanes were predicted in 2024 vs how many actually occurred?”

    Comparison:

    • NOAA: Predicted 8–13 hurricanes; actual was 11. This falls within their predicted range, making it a relatively accurate forecast.
    • CSU: Predicted 11–12 hurricanes across updates; actual was 11. Their April and June forecasts matched exactly, while July slightly overestimated.
    • TSR: Predicted 9–13 hurricanes; actual was 11. Their range included the actual outcome, with later updates trending higher.
    • University of Pennsylvania: Predicted 33 named storms, implying a high hurricane count (potentially 15–17); actual hurricanes were 11. This was an overestimate, especially for named storms (18 vs. 33).

This was the first time I’d tried the Grok search engine, and the response was remarkably helpful!

    “Dear Fellow Texans –

This week, as a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I took part in a hearing to raise awareness about the growing threats we face around the world.

I had the chance to speak with the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, about the conflicts in Europe and the serious risks they pose to global stability.

As Russia continues to threaten the peace and security of our allies, both overtly with the War in Ukraine and covertly through acts of sabotage and subversion, many countries are starting to consider arming themselves with nuclear weapons—a move that could have even more serious implications.

President Trump understands the value of peace through strength, making it very clear: It is time for the war in Ukraine to end.

I commend President Trump for his incredible efforts to restore peace to this region, de-escalate global tensions, and end the bloodshed. His vision for securing peace in this dangerous world is an act of moral leadership, and I believe he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize if successful.

I will continue to support the President and his efforts to keep Texas and our country safer for future generations.

    For Texas,

    John”

I agree with our Senior Senator from Texas, John Cornyn.  Biden should have stopped this war immediately.  Instead, Biden encouraged the war and millions of people are dead.  Many more millions are displaced and now refugees.  President Trump has made it a goal of his first 100 days in office to stop the war immediately.

President Trump does deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Yes, Robert A. Heinlein did invent the word “grok.” He introduced it in his 1961 science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land. In the book, “grok” is a Martian word that roughly translates to understanding something or someone deeply and intuitively, often implying a profound empathy or connection. Heinlein created the term, and it has since entered popular culture, even finding its way into some dictionaries due to its widespread use. Pretty cool legacy for a writer, right?”

“At 433.6 million bbl, US crude oil inventories are about 5% below the 5-year average for this time of year, the EIA report indicated.”

Crude oil is the most volatile commodity in the world.  At any given moment, there are hundreds of crude oil freighters on the high seas moving crude oil from the countries with excess amounts to countries with crude oil shortages.

I believe that we are approaching another period of peak oil due to exploding usage of crude oil across the planet and many of the world super giant oil reservoirs are past their peak production rates.  The USA is incredibly blessed in that we are producing almost 14 million barrels of crude oil per day right now.  The total world production is around 83 million barrels of crude oil per day and increasing due to the USA.

        https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/donald-trump-signs-executive-order-requiring-proof-of-citizenship-in-federal-elections/ar-AA1BEyt3

“WASHINGTON ‒ President Donald Trump signed a sweeping executive order Tuesday that looks to overhaul how elections are conducted across the nation, including establishing new voter identification requirements to prove U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections.”

“The order, which is expected to face legal challenges by voting rights groups, comes as Trump continues to push baseless claims of voter fraud to argue the 2020 election was stolen from him despite his victory in the 2024 election.”

“Non-U.S. citizens are already not allowed to vote in federal elections. But under the order, the national mail voter registration form will require that applicants provide either a U.S. passport, a REAL ID driver’s license or state-issued card compliant with REAL standards, or a “valid Federal or State government-issued photo identification.””

Everything else requires a government id, why not elections ?

There are no federal elections. Everything is state. When voting for president a person is voting for an electoral college representative.

Executive orders do not apply to non-government workers. Only congress can pass laws that affect private citizens.

REP FALLON: “In 2020, NPR branded Hunter Biden’s laptop story a ‘waste of time.’ Do you know how many times NPR interviewed Adam Schiff about the Russia Collusion hoax?”

    NPR CEO: “Idk.”

REP FALLON: “25 times. How many times did NPR interview Chairman Comer about the Biden impeachment inquiry and the Biden family’s illicit business dealings?” NPR CEO: “Idk.”

REP FALLON: “0 times. 25 to 0. Between June and November of 2023, PBS’s News Hour used the term ‘far-right’ 162 times, and ‘far-left’ was only used 6 times. Do you find that troubling?”

PBS CEO: “I want to see how they did that analysis.”

REP FALLON: “Media Research Center did the study. You either use the term ‘far-right’ or ‘far-left.’ That’s a 96% to 4% skew. Did PBS cover the DNC and GOP conventions in 2024?”

    PBS CEO: “Yes, we did.”

REP FALLON: “72% of the coverage of the GOP convention was negative. 88% of the coverage of the DNC was positive. PBS’s anchor described the Republican convention as ‘outright racism’ and ‘echoing white supremacy.’ Do you believe your reporters are non-biased at NPR?”

NPR CEO: “I believe they work to be every day.”

REP FALLON: “The recent registration of your newsroom was 87 Democrats and 0 Republicans.”

NPR CEO: “I find that very concerning, sir.”

REP FALLON: “It shouldn’t be surprising when their CEO says ‘I’m so done with late-stage capitalism’ or calls the POTUS a ‘deranged racist sociopath’ or says that ‘America is addicted to white supremacy.'”

REP FALLON: “Billions of taxpayer dollars have gone into both of your coffers over the last few decades, and I understand why Democrats are going to viciously and vehemently defend you all because you’ve become a propaganda wing of the Democratic Party.”

Subcommittee Chairwoman Greene concluded in her closing statement: “After listening to what we’ve heard today, we will be calling for the complete and total defund and dismantling of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Here’s how it works: in America every single day, private businesses operate on their own without government funding. We believe that you all can hate us on your own dime.

It is a good start to identifying a problem.

Dog was barking his little head off.   He had a baby possum cornered.   Killed it too.  By the time I got out there, it was dead, he was shaking it, and I could hear bones crunch when he bit into it.     Can’t have him bringing souvenirs indoors, so I took it away from him.   And I don’t want him eating rats since they eat poison.

THE BEST proof of citizenship is a passport. Anyone who does not already have one should certainly begin now to assemble the required documents.

$200,000 spent on Snap On tools since 2008–17 years

    2025 -28 = 1997

He’s had his own shop for 28 years, has been in the biz for 40(?).

Now he’s having a paradigm shift because Ikon showed up Snap On in a simple test created by Snap On:

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XHzDH5wZKmY

and questioning whether there might be better recommendations for young techs getting into the biz than to spend $700 on a set of wrenches.

That’s a good question, and he got the answer that my dad gave me 50 years ago.

But the question I have is what in the hell did he spend $200,000 dollars on after being in the biz 23 years and buying “lifetime tools”.

Looking at his shop I’d say part of the answer is “tool box crack”.

    Looking at this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XHzDH5wZKmY

I know he buys tools for the shop, but a lot of those specialty tools are not Snap On, unless they are using totally different trade dress.

  56. nick flandrey says:

From watching some other guys, there are  a LOT of single use tools out there, mostly because of the way shops pay book rate, which is never enough time, so the techs buy the single use tool that gets the job done in an hour, rather than some general tools that take longer.

That and the freaking automotive engineers don’t consider servicing the vehicle, so there are some jobs that require the special dealer only or tool truck only tool.   It takes a couple of years for the generic copycat tool to appear.

I cite my attempt to change my own starter motor on the Expy as an example.   Two of the three bolts are no problem, but the third takes a special tool, OR you can remove inner fender liners, motor shields, and some other parts as well.    The guy on youtube figured out the exact combination of swivels and extensions to do it with ordinary sockets and wrenches but you still have to do it blind… or take ¼ of the front end apart.

And tool guys are tool whores.

Machinists are worse, they collect tooling by the bucket full and still never have the correct tap/slitting saw/boring bar….

BTW, over the next few days some minor things might change with the site.  If it breaks, you can check at Barbara’s site for info.

There are a number of updates waiting, and the house of cards that is commenting and editing here might have hidden dependencies or issues.

The only way to find out for sure is to go for it.
