Cool and misty to start. Then clearing and warming. Like the last couple of days, it should be nice. It’s been great for my mood.
Did my echo cardiogram yesterday morning. Don’t know why I mis-wrote “electro” when even the appointment note in my calendar had it right. It was another new experience. Interesting to watch the pictures and video of my insides…
Did some pickups in the afternoon. Hit the grocery store for a few items. Then kid stuff needed doing. Tuesdays and Thursdays keep me busy until 9pm.
Today I don’t have any poking, prodding, irradiating, or electrifying on the schedule. I do have all my normal stuff. There will be some domestic bliss, and then some more pickups. This week had a lot of stuff for the BOL, and a few things for here. I picked up some resale stuff too, because the deal was too good to pass up. And hey, I’ve got a hamfest coming up, and I would like to have a few new things to sell.
The world does continue to turn. It is feeling like momentum for real change domestically might be flagging… while the war machine juggernaut is lurching to its feet internationally. I don’t see any reason to stop prepping. There are plenty of natural disasters, and man made disasters beyond war and civil unrest. As the weather gets nicer, the protests will likely get bigger. They learned lessons, built cadre, put funding and comms networks into place. They’ll want to exercise that this year.
Don’t be slack, continue to stack! ‘cuz that can ain’t kicking itself done the road.

That research was probably my fault.
Imagine walking through a convention center, the main room fillled to capacity, with video feeds running to overflowspaces throughout the building, and the speaker on the stage leading the crowd, thousands of aestheticians packed to standing room only, with this chant:
“When I say ‘anal’, you say ‘bleaching’.”
“Anal.”
“BLEACHING”
“Anal”
“BLEACHING!!!!!”
We were there to see a comic book show in the adjacent space, but nothing in that area was nearly as freaky as the anal bleaching cheer.
The practice must be big business.

OFD is not around so I have the honors of posting the link to today’s Kunstler column.
Kunstler glosses over Bill Barr’s role in the formation of the Verizon half of the CoDominium in the “merger of equals” between Bell Atlantic and GTE, with Vodaphone’s Airtouch (several Baby Bell’s wireless units) thrown into the mix.
In the end, it was a screw job for stockholders of both companies. I lived that one.
Unlike my friends, however, my pension did not disappear into the pockets of Barr and his friends.
Not that having that account intact means much beyond the symbolism of still having it while my friends do not. Guess who voted against the merger.

We will probably never know the mayhem our US CIA has caused around the World. It is time the CIA is reigned in. No more classified ops that not even POTUS knows about. No more unaccountable black budgets. Anybody goes rogue, they get shot in the babymaker.

It is amazing the Dumbos/PLTs/LSM are still using the same “tRump’s a Nazi” “we’re all gonna die from COVIDXX” “defunding USAID will cause WWIII” Rules For Radicals approach. I predict if the Redumbo’s hold Congress at the midterms, it is over for the Dumbo Party as it exists now. AOC and the Squad, David Hogg, and the Dumbo Amish Caucus are a complete failure. They do nothing. As the midterms approach, that group of losers are going to promise a Tesla in every garage, etc. Without USAID and crimmigrants, the Dumbos could extinguish themselves. From the ashes rises…David Hogg for President. LOL!

***SOAPBOX POST – SKIP IF YOU LOVE TRANNIES***
I wasn’t going to post this, but when you see “Constitutional Crisis”, you know something goofy is going on. There is a YouTuber I really like, Deviant Ollam, who is a pentester, gunner, locks, etc. He puts out a lot of good pentesting info. During tRump’s first term, Deviant became a loud and proud anti-tRumper and tranny lover. He really believes transwomen are REAL women. I don’t know his political affiliation, I thought he is a libertarian, but after years of f tRump, yay! plugs, trannies are real Women (trans peeps, he calls them), I believe he is a PLT. I really didn’t care as long as good vids were being put up. Then he went full nutroot for a tranny “Kara” who was raided for tons of fake IDs and gun parts. “Her” defense was “just goofing off”, the jury said no and sent ”her” to the pen. The female pen, which Deviant loved and has tried to help “her” get more female treatment for years. “She” is still in the pen, but with hormone treatment, etc. Well, this is the Fed and things are changing. Trannies are being sent to Men’s prison, but that hasn’t hit “Kara” yet. But it is coming and Deviant thinks this will be a Constitional Crisis with voilence. The video is:
This is How a Constitutional Crisis Will Begin
I believe Deviant has gone off his rocker to think trannies will cause a Constitutional Crisis. I believe SCOTUS will settle this (a lower court has stopped tranny transfers, with Deviant crowing the judge was appointed by Reagan). A CC will not happen because of less than a percent of the population playing make believe.
I am unsubcribing from his channel. Deviant has gone off the deep end. If you read the comments on this video, you will see many trannie lovers, who think prison should be Club Fed. You are in prison. You don’t get medical care for cutting your dick off, steaks for dinner, and rights other than basic Human rights. He isn’t monetized, doesn’t care, but there are other YTs out there providing good info, that keep their yaps shut. Ollam encourages people to come up and say hi since travels a lot. I won’t. I hope to see him on the front lines of the coming Tranny War. He is lost.
I am back from Oklahoma and exhausted. Driving 500 miles in a day is tiring, especially the Dallas traffic.
I stopped and saw my 68 year old brother in law with Lewy Body Dementia in stage 4. I stopped first at my sister in laws house and I followed her to the group home nearby. The group home is just a regular home in their neighborhood that the owner has reconfigured for seven bedrooms. There is a male nurse and a female nurse there 24x7x365 since there are five males there and two females, all in the various stages of end of life. The youngest is a 40 ??? year old guy who had a massive heart attack and cannot take care of himself anymore, his dad has his guardianship. The oldest is a lady in her 70s with stage 4 Parkinsons. The cost is $4,500 per month each patient.
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/lewy-body-dementia/symptoms-causes/syc-20352025
My brother in law seemed to recognize me but I was not sure. He could not say my name. My sister in law, my nephew, and I sat in his bedroom and talked with him for about an hour and a half. They go see him every day.
My brother in law can say four words and then he loses his train of thought. He is bed bound since he cannot stand without help. He was 6’4″ and 250 lbs but has dropped to at least 200 lbs. Still, it was good to spend time with him. I had planned to leave at 4 pm but did not leave until almost 5 pm. I remember the good times that we had over the last 40 years and the things that we did together for our families. Like replacing a 30+ foot long collapsed clay sewer pipe at their house with 4 inch PVC pipe on a 20 F Christmas Day thirty+ years ago.
My daughter’s FIL entered a memory care unit two years ago for dementia of various sorts. He loses his train of thought quickly, but even more concerning is, his muscles have wasted away. He can shuffle along with help, but cannot stand from sitting. Really sad. This is how neuromuscular diseases kill you.
@Lynn: Dementia is tough. Good on you for visiting. It’s hard to tell how much gets through, and I find it really tough to do.
Never, ever underestimate the stupid party’s ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I’m hopeful that Trump can pull off a rare “hold the House” off-term, but remember his allies are Mike Johnson and people like Eyepatch McCain.
Of course, all bets are off if Trump gets paper ballots, photo ID, legal citizen only same day voting for Federal offices passed as law, and not stopped by an activist court. But in order to get the court cases settled by November, 2026, that law needs passed RIGHT NOW.

My BIL has had LBD for around five years and is in the end stage. He cannot control his arms and just waves them around. When he is hungry, he starts to wave his arms like he is feeding himself. Other times he mimics his working at UPS loading boxes into trucks and checking packages on the conveyors.
“BREAKING: Trump To Sign Order Making English The Official US Language”
https://www.infowars.com/posts/breaking-trump-to-sign-order-making-english-the-official-us-language/
“The order will establish a national language for the first time in the nation’s 250 year history.”
““Trump’s order would also rescind former President Bill Clinton’s August 2000 directive requiring agencies and other recipients of federal funds to provide services for those with limited English proficiency,” reports CNBC. “Trump’s designation will allow federal agencies to maintain their current policies and continue to provide documents and services in other languages. But it ‘encourages new Americans to adopt a national language that opens doors to greater opportunities.’””
I am sure that some federal judge will strike this down immediately.
Our local public school system is dealing with 40 languages from all the legal and illegal immigrants. It is a tremendous burden for us taxpayers and we should not have to pay for this.
Hat tip to:

tRump should just say “buh-bye” to the whole process. Our $billions are a sunk cost we aren’t getting back. Let the European Union deal with it. It is in there backyard, not ours. Watch for Zelenskyy to run to France.

The couple hadn’t been seen or heard from in about two weeks (via NY Post):”

Bookmarked for posterity.
It is about time. Yes, some doosh-judge will strike this down. SCOTUS will probably punt on this one. Time for the Redumbo’s to step up with an “Official Language Act”. Sure, ha, ha.
tRump should follow this up just like DEI: “Make English your official language or lose all Federal school funds.” Let AOC start a GoFundMe for crimmigrants before Federal Courts for translators.
PS. We just got a contract in CO for one of our programs. During the Zoom call to set up the schedule, the school specifically asked all material NOT have any D, E, or I references. No problemo.

We should take the payments out of these ultra liberal federal judges paychecks. That might get their attention.
A State needs to set a precedent with English-only K-12. I’m sure a judge will say that is unConstitutional. The State should respond: “OK. There is also nothing in the Constitution that says what language is used.” Then just fail everyone who can’t pass a class because they can’t speak English. Why would you live here or become a Citizen and not learn English.
Please, Texas, do this and get the ball rolling. We probably pay more in school taxes for ESL than any other expense. Except football.
We can only hope for a final ruling against. Really, the Constitution says tRump HAS to send $billions overseas? This is just crazy.

I don’t view it as a positive sign since that means more meetings are being held at lower levels where management doesn’t want a permanent record retained.

The House margin currently rests on the four seats DeSantis swung through redistricting, but they’re all vulnerable to being primaried if he runs his wife for FL Governor as rumored.

Er. Electron trail.
We are in Dallas for a few days for a conference.
Lenny Henry’s “Chef!” was on Dallas PBS late last night. “Chef!” isn’t exactly “PC” by today’s standards so the change in the White House may have influenced the programming decision, but I know the show was huge when it hit Texas PBS stations in the 90s.
Of course, “Chef!” was immediately followed by “Amanpour”. Texas PBS is still PBS.
Has anyone here used a digital picture –→ “canvas” print shop that they are happy with? I have a few empty frames that I was thinking of filling with some family photos.
It seems everybody and their brother seems to offer the service, (Amazon, Costco, Walmart, many many online shops), but the different vendors seemed to have different processes. In particular there are reports that some are a very plastic looking “canvas”, and reports of early ink fading for others.
The frames are 2x 18×20″, and a few smaller ones.
TIA.
Random thought: I wonder if the space station could be repurposed as an earth-mars cycler experiment?
I am fixing to do that on the 6th of March. We are leaving for our annual pilgrimage to visit the wife’s family. I mostly go along for the ride. Our first stop is Round Rock and the route we take is through Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock (spend the night in Bryant), then on to Dallas and south on I-35. I will probably take the toll roads because experience has shown me it avoids a lot of hassle for a few extra dollars.
I could make the trip in one day as we have done it before. But 16 hours is just too long to be driving in one stretch. The last couple of hours fighting sleep is dangerous.
We could go through Birmingham and Shreveport but that route is 1 hour longer. Besides, crossing the border into Alabama one must break out a taillight and a tooth.
I went through that with my aunt. I know exactly what you are expressing. The disease is both amazing in what it does to the body and mind, and sad in what it does to the body and mind.
My grandparents had it bad. The wife and I stopped to visit and were there about 30 minutes when they said “who are you?” We got out a photo album and went through the pictures. That seemed to help. That was the last time I saw them alive.
With my aunt it started out not bad but progressed. When she got moved from assisted living into the nursing home, she went downhill rapidly. She had to relocate as she had run out of money. She burned through several hundred thousand dollars during her 6 years in the assisted living facility. It was her money and was put to good use. Her doctor in Port Townsend WA (she lived really close to RickH) said she would not last a year when we moved her to TN. She lasted 10.5 years.
After being placed in the nursing home I went and visited a couple of times. It just really upset her so I quit going. The wife kept visiting as my aunt recognized her, but not me. That last year was spent lying flat, cleaning the prior day’s food off one end, and stuffing new food in the other end. I did see my aunt the day she died as the nursing home called me and said my aunt was non-responsive. In my mind my aunt had died years before and was little more than a biomass that was no longer functioning.
Based on the grandparents, my mother, her brother and sister (my aunt), there is a strong possibility that it will be my future. The only good thing is that the VA will pay for the nursing home so that relieves a big financial burden on my wife. Or my son if the wife expires first.
I actually like Walgreens printing service. I have had good outcomes with everything I have done through them. Walmart just sucks, or used to suck, probably still does suck.
Hah. Yeah, I used to use them when I lived in Norcal, I had forgotten.
It used to be that you could go to your local printer and palm the help a $20 bill and he’d tell you when the print chemicals were new. Sometime in the 90s all the local print shops went away, along with that option.
But, I guess I could try several vendors with the same smaller image and see.
We have a lot of immigrants. School is in the local language, period. Kids soak up language like a sponge.
You do have a problem when too many immigrants come from the same place. Really, they need to be deliberately scattered, to prevent subcommunities from forming, because that hinders integration.
Also, Islamic immigrants are a problem. The super-macho culture, the level of violence, the utter disrespect of women, etc.. Really, basically no immigrants from Muslim countries should be accepted.
Arkansas is just grim from East Memphis to Texarkana, but I got snagged by the Alabama State Patrol’s “move over law” scam on my last trip through on I-10 so I don’t drive through there anymore.
Really, basically no immigrants from Muslim countries should be accepted.
My neighborhood is turning muslim. They are very different people.
Zelensky got debanked today.
If it was a ploy to facilitate resigning and moving to Switzerland to enjoy a few stashed billions, he will find that Trump isn’t too sanguine about stealing our money.
Yes, it is. There is a lot of truck traffic on I-40W. One truck traveling 70 MPH, the passing truck traveling 70.001 MPH. The speed limit is 75, 5 higher than TN.
We are coming back on the southern router, I-10 from the Houston area. Coming into LA from TX there are a lot of LA cops about 4-5 miles past the TX/LA border. Texas has 75 MPH, LA is 70 MPH. People still have their cruise control set on 80 so become fodder for the LA police.
On the way back we will stop in Meridian, then on to Atlanta to visit friends for a night. A little out of the way.
Random thought: I wonder if the space station could be repurposed as an earth-mars cycler experiment?
Not after the fire in the Soviet side and the female astronaut beat the living crap out of all the zero gravity toilets after some sort of undisclosed incident.
I just did the yearly maintenance on my eXmark lawnmower. The kit with the parts is $110. Yikes. Fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, oil filter, oil (2.5 quarts), and some fuel treatment. I also got new blades as the old ones are six years old and have hit a lot of sticks. $30 each and I need 3. I also bought a jack specifically for the front of the mower, $120.
Getting under that mower is difficult and it is really heavy with a welded steel frame and deck. Safety is important as this jack fits into a special bracket on the front and is secured with a pin. It cannot slip. The old blades are in surprisingly good shape. I will have them resharpened and used as spares. Sharpening is almost the cost of a new blade.
Removing the old blades was difficult and it took my long breaker bar. The blade bolts were really tight. A friction fit and no notches in the blade. That protects the bearings in case of striking some object. They are probably supposed to be torqued to a specific amount. I just try to make them as tight as they were when I took them off.
Next year I need to have the drive units serviced. New fluids and filters in the hydrostatic drives. I will have the mower picked up and serviced at the dealer next year as that requires special tools.
And I did mow today. Dropped the mower to 2″ and scalped the grass and mulched the couple hundred pine cones.

“If it weren’t for double standards, there wouldn’t be any standards at all in this town.”
@greg:
I presume this is the equivalent of the UK Highway Code Rule 161, which states, in relevant part, “should keep as far left as possible, except when…” (remembering that we drive on the left). In the UK case, the word “should” means it is advisory, not compulsory, although general adherence to the Code can be taken into account in court cases.
That said, there is a class of driver which thinks that their choice of penismobile means that they are not required to obey the rules of the (UK) road. You will ind them in the rightmost lane of a dual carriageway or motorway (interstate?).
G.
Crowdsourcing on Waze is effective on I-10 crossing into LA from TX, but I almost got snagged doing 80 in a 70 MPH zone outside Little Rock when I counted on the app working like it does in Texas. I only slowed down in time because I caught the gumball lights on the Arkansas State Patrol vehicle down the road.
The focus on speed enforcement explains why the last time we went to New Orleans, the Love’s on I-10 just before the bridge was crawling with hookers, their pimps, and a lot of older white guys wanting to get their strange on with some brown sugar.
I gotta wonder if that was coordinated online in some way.
No. “Move over” laws are the new fad among the US states intended to protect first responders stopped along the side of the road. Lights on an emergency vehicle stopped on the shoulder are a signal to the driver to either move into the left lane or slow down 15-20 MPH below the speed limit even if you don’t see anyone present around the vehicle.
The Alabama State Patrol runs traps for the “move over” law where they set up a 6-8 empty State Patrol cars, lights on, appearing to be there as part of a drug bust away from the road, and hide a pair of cops in one of the last cars to wait with the engine running ready to pounce.
Typically, the trap gets run during rush hour on I-10 outside Mobile eastbound during the Summer.
The state expects most people to just take care of the ticket online and forget about it.
@greg:
Thanks for that.
G.
There is a small town north of Atlanta on I-75. They station a car on a bridge and radio ahead to popo cars waiting on the next on-ramp.
When I lived in Live Oak Texas, northeast of San Antonio on I-35 there was a small town called Shertz. The town had a small section that overlapped I-35. Years ago a person got on the CB and asked if the road was clear of the local Shertz speed trap. He was given the all clear. He got pulled over. When he mentioned he got the all clear on the CB. The cop said that he was the one that said it was clear.
It turned out the guy stopped was with the FCC. It was illegal for police to use CB, especially transmitting. The FCC guy took the ticket and brought the wrath of the FCC down on the officer and the Shertz TX police department. The fines were severe. The ticket was dismissed and charges of entrapment were leveled against the officer. Those also got dismissed.
As long as I was mostly still sidelined by the lower back (after Wednesdays yard work) I took the opportunity to update some passwords and stuff that the Apple password manager had been nagging me about: stuff seen online I guess. Medical, financial, and some odd media places like Roku.
A lot of them were old, old, old, as in the last century, and waaay too short, 6 and 8 characters. Also a couple of recovery emails that were no longer in service, older phone numbers, or even no recovery/alternate POC.
I feel a bit better about things, but there is a bunch of stuff on the old 2012 MacBook as well that should probably be ported over and then zapped from there, before I do something with it..
I canceled my Office 365 subscription as well, haven’t used it in years and I believe I heard that the prices are going up as they add “AI” to everything.
It’s mass and it’s ALREADY in space; that makes it valuable right there. The next space station needs to be in a higher orbit so that it’ll be stable without continual re-boosts. THEN we can start gathering junk to re-manufacture stuff.
Watched a bit of the Zelensky thing.
Whoa, I don’t think we’ve seen anything like that in a long time.
If Trump will do this to an erstwhile “ally”, then Putin, Xi, the Mullahs, and the Nato Eurocrats must be sitting there asking their aides: “WTF just happened? WTF?”
Glorious.
Part of the art of the deal is to be able to say “no deal”.
Musk was asked to bid on splashing it, and he said last week that it should be splashed as soon as possible.
Dunno if he got the contract yet.
The thing is leaking air, has non-working radios and other gear, and just hosted an extra two people for almost a year…

I thought Switzerland has four official languages. Do I have that wrong?
How “local” is the local language?
Yeah, you could boost it into a higher stable orbit, remove the explosives & flammables, and scavenge it for aluminum sheet later.

It seems that an argument could be made for distinct, but I don’t think in that sentence, it’s correct.

Why, exactly, does anyone GAF what this traitorous pair of future felons has to say?
Exactly. They need to keep the grift going now that tRump has kneecapped the USAID slush fund.
As I said above, we are not the World’s police. Yeah, we want Putin contained. Pumping $billions every year into Ukraine just keeps the war going and our treasure draining.
Also, as I said above, this is in the EU’s backyard. They need to pony up a lot more if they want the war to continue. NATO told Ukraine you can’t join ‘cause Putin!!!
No. There were an extra two people for a few MONTHS, but when NASA made the decision to leave Butch and Suni in space for an extra 6 months, the “replacement crew” that was sent up was only TWO new astronauts. The two new folks, plus Butch and Suni, were then the crew of that Dragon capsule. And those four people will be coming back down in just a couple of weeks now.

Some of the cities along I-35 in the blue counties have implemented a $500 fine for touching any electronic device while the vehicle is in motion. That fine is more than many jurisdictions most severe speeding ticket.
I’m not sure about Shertz, but I know San Marcos adopted the law.
The next SpaceX Crew Dragon launch is scheduled for March 12.

“The natural gas tax, introduced under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, aimed to curb methane emissions—a potent greenhouse gas—by imposing financial penalties on oil and gas producers exceeding specific emission thresholds. The fee was structured to start at $900 per metric ton of methane in 2024, escalating to $1,500 by 2026. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized the associated regulations in late 2024, setting the stage for implementation.”
“Utilizing the Congressional Review Act (CRA), which permits Congress to nullify federal regulations within a certain timeframe, lawmakers moved swiftly to dismantle the methane fee. The House of Representatives passed the resolution with a 220-206 vote on February 26, 2025, followed by a 52-47 Senate vote on February 27. The resolution now awaits President Donald Trump’s signature, which is anticipated promptly.”
This tax was going to raise billions of dollars from the natural gas industry. Maybe even hundreds of billions of dollars per year. The tax was designed to crash the natural gas industry of the USA.
You want one and only one official language! That is one thing that you can learn from Canada. It is only through an accident of history (and laziness on the part of the British) that we are stuck with two.
