Unseasonably cool here in the Sunshine State. Dunno how that will play out over the next few days, but for now it’s long pants weather.
Yesterday was a mostly slow and lazy day for me. Took my time getting packed and ready. Had to replace most of the spare batteries in my bags and replace the “get home” money that I “borrowed” when a fun toy became available at an irresistible price… My back pack has 1 oz of gold coins and about $1K in USD tucked into it. That is supposed to be untouchable and just for emergency use. I’m good at lying to myself though, and I raided it for some cash.
I’ve talked about the other stuff I carry before, but the high points are a tourniquet, blow out kit (first aid focused on bleeding control), change of clothes, windbreaker, towel, food, water, and some really thick zip ties…
I’ve got some other stuff in there too including my toughbook and kindle, batteries, a bag of cables and chargers, my back up id and cards, blister first aid, some crayons and a little coloring book (for fussy kids), and general snivel gear.
99% of the time I don’t need anything in the bag but something to read and a charging cable. It’s there if I do need it though.
That’s pretty much the story of my life as a prepper and a husband and father too. It’s there if needed.
The vast stacks of stuff are there too. Which comforts me and gives me choices. They turn mountains into molehills, and let life continue without interruption.
Get some of your own, and feel the satisfaction… stack!

And carry your TQ at least when you are out in crowds. If not a TQ, then an Israeli bandage and a pack of quick clot. It’s not big, and it might save a life.
Continued safe travels, @Nick.
And coffee.,.
They did not anticipate that a rolling fetish item like the F150 Lightning would be used for such an attack.
Unfortunately for the driver, the Lightning is last year’s sex toy. A far more effective attack would have been to “crabwalk” a Hummer EV through the crowd.
The TSA has been playing random 4th Amendment violation games inside the secure area of the airports, testing how far they can go with searches and asset forfeiture. Look on YouTube for the videos.
Yes, you have rights, but how badly do you need to make that flight?
Quick trip to Wally World Market this am. 18 Great Value large AA eggs – $9.52.
Bird Flu gonna kill all the chickens.
Yes, they are. I have been a victim. I was flying to Portland Oregon back in 2014 when I encountered an issue. I had shown the TSA agent the light worked because he asked me to turn it on and he was impressed with the brightness. The TSA agent then said my flashlight could be used as a weapon and it was not allowed to be on the plane. He said I can either get my luggage back and put the light in checked baggage, and miss the flight, or surrender the flashlight. I asked for a supervisor and he said there were none available. I just gave up the light as I think I paid $35.00 for the light. I asked for a receipt and he said they don’t give receipts for forbidden items. I suspect the light went in his pocket.
I just let it go as pissing off a TSA agent, even when I am in the right, will never go well. I don’t trust any of those people to not be vindictive even to the point of planting drugs or faking a gun powder residue check. Hurt their tiny little feelings and they will get even as their top priority is keeping their jobs and lording over others.
I have learned that a person coming into the US on a US passport does not have to answer any questions. I have also learned that immigration can hold someone for 23 hours for no reason at all. I would guarantee that would happen if I refused to answer questions and would probably miss my connecting flight.
Arriving in Germany I was asked why I was entering Germany. I said to visit friends to which the agent responded “have a good time”. Coming into the US it is almost always several questions about where I have been, when I left, where I live, etc. Immigration makes people feel like criminals coming back into their own country.
The fun and games in Austin happen beyond the TSA checkpoint, where ABIA PD has jurisdiction, not the TSA.
You don’t have to obey the TSA agent, especially regarding a search, but they can detain you as suspicious.
There is a mistaken belief that Islam is a religion, and thus covered by the 1st Amendment.
None of the founders would have seen it that way, of course. They grudgingly would support Jews and well-educated freethinkers (with limits), and maybe Deists, and a handful of Hindoo, Mohammedan, and Buddhist visotors for color. Note “visitors”.
Similarly, when they ammended the Constitution to allow a tax on incomes, they dropped the 4% upper limit from the text, because “It wold never get that high. Who would be that stupid?”.
Beautiful day today. Cool and clear.
Breakfast and coffee are finished.
Family is important.
I haven’t looked at the news yet so I’m still in a good mood.

Yet the same goobermint let our country flood with crimmigrants.
Future Dem voters.
It is just a little over 25 years ago when the world anxiously waited in fear of the Y2K date problem. The majority of experts were saying the world would have major problems. These “experts” were wrong.
I had to give a couple of lectures to some local groups about Y2K. Many of the attendees were in fear. I tried to calm them down. In their minds every thing with a computer was going to crash.
One person questioned what would happen with their car because it had a computer. Would it cease to work on 1/1/2000? I asked the person when was the last time they entered the date into their car. Stunned silence. Car computers are process control computers and in the context of a car, had no concern about the date.
Others were in fear traffic lights would not work because the lights would think a work day was a weekend and change their timing. I countered with “so what”. The lights will work and there will not be major accidents.
Others were concerned about fuel pumps not working. I said the pumps will work, your credit may be the only issue. Others were concerned about ATMs not working. But vendors have had dozens of months to prepare. The likelihood of the cards not working was slim to none.
Others were concerned about their mortgages now showing 100 years past due. I countered with that in the extremely rare case that happens the lending institution would know there was a problem.
The only problem that anyone would have is the date in their old computer being incorrect. That is not going to affect their lives.
While in the USAF my group solved the Y2K problem in 1974, long before the rest of the world was concerned. I knew from experience that Y2K for the most part was going to be a non-event. I was heavily criticized for that stand. Turns out I was correct.
Y2K was little more than a scam for thousands of consultants to rip off clients by spreading fear from lack of knowledge. A lot of money was made from Y2K fear. I even made a few hundred dollars.
So the dude in Magdeburg was clearly Islamic, the dude in New Orleans was “inspired” by ISIS, the widespread chaos throughout Germany over New Year’s was entirely caused by Islamic immigrants. A look at any of the lists of the top terrorist organisations in the world reveals that they are all Islamic.
Over New year’s, Germany arrested more than 400 idiots in Berlin alone. All or nearly all are Islamic immigrants. 400 would fill a nice-sized plane, flying them back to the Middle East. Doesn’t much matter where, pay some country for the right to unload them.
Why has the West not simply outlawed Islam and Islamic practices?
Many battles are coming in the never ending war between islam and the rest of the world. You can read about the aftereffects of the war at: “Caliphate” by Tom Kratman:

There are three billion muslim worshipers across the world. They are growing steadily. Convert or die is their battle call. They do keep slaves.

“Imagine how much worse Wednesday’s deadly event would have been had the FBI not taken dangerous grandmother’s off the street?”
“Early Wednesday morning, a radical Islamic terrorist drove his truck through a crowd of people celebrating the start of the New Year in New Orleans. Fifteen people were murdered and more than 35 injured. But maybe this tragedy could have been avoided if the FBI spent less time targeting parents, Catholics, and countless other dissidents and instead focused its resources on catching actual terrorists.”
The FBI and CIA need a hard reboot. Starting with booting every person in supervision to the street.

This makes no sense whatsoever.
Light the fuse, and then off himself because he figures that dying in an explosion and fire would hurt lots more than a bullet to the brain. And he was probably right about that.

The guy was Special Forces out of Fort Bragg. He could have stolen a hundred pounds of C4 and rigged a remote trigger. He has the training to do so. Shoot, my former USMC son had the training in Marine Corps Infantry School. My son routinely carried a couple of pounds of C4 any time that they were in the field.
But, why do this ? Livelsberger’s “partner” just had a baby they they both wanted very much. Why would Livelsberger off himself ? This makes no sense whatsoever.

I paid $6.48 last night at HEB for 18 large eggs. Definitely high.
Californians seem to have to pay 50% more for everything than everyone else. Lucky you.
Starting to wonder if there was coercion and a remote detonator. The muzzies routinely use remote backups on their VBIED and suicide vest murderers.

visited the local mall/outdoor shopping center to see their Christmas lighting installation. Really nice, with a 10 minute show involving the whole property. What looked like just strings of lights on palm trees and some shapes turned out to be much more. Pretty cool.
The restaurants didn’t seem to be doing much business at 630pm though.
Lots of people driving around to see the lights. Not much shopping.

That is what I am wondering. Something smells really bad here.

Egg prices; As a retired Navy guy, I buy most of my groceries at the Lackland AFB Commissary store, the “military grocery store”. On the 31st, a dozen extra-large eggs were $4.26, which was a significant bump from the $3-something that I paid last month.
Cacafornia egg prices were spiked a couple of years ago by the moronic law that eggs sold in CA were required to be “free range”, and not confined to cages. The prices were predicted to skyrocket, and the CA legislators assured everybody that this was typical Republican scare tactics, and that nothing like that could ever happen. But it did, of course.
@Ken Mitchell: I will be in San Antonio sometime in March. Maybe we could arrange a meeting at Bill Miller BBQ. Somewhere in San Antonio. I will be in the Windcrest area.
Almost everything the California legislature does causes prices to rise.
“Major Social Security Changes Take Effect Today – Here’s How 6 Changes Affect You”

“Social Security Fast Facts”
Over 53% of recipients are between 18 and 64 ? Wait, what is going on here ?
People scamming, or abusing, the disability system.
What Ken said, plus the scaremongering persuading most people to take SS as soon as they turn 62, due to misconceptions about lifelong earnings and the insolvency of SS. Since I plan to live until I’m 90, I wanted to delay until I turned 70 and maximize my payout. Houston Methodist killed that plan when they fired me for not taking the jab. I made it to 67, though.
No matter what’s causing it (IT’S THE VAX), there are also a bunch of young men dieing of novel heart issues and cancers, and they’re leaving behind a bunch of dependents on survivor’s benefits, whihch is also SS.
I know two people who used to work for UPS. They apparently “injured their back” lifting a box. Now they are unable to work. Yet I saw one of them mowing her lawn with a push power mower. I also know her and the significant other have a boat and she regularly goes waterskiing. Four wheeling at Windsock on some of the toughest trails? You bet. Yet she is unable to work and is drawing SS disability.
She got divorced but still lives the guy for 11 months out of the year. She has a couple of kids still in school which increases what she gets. Her older daughter got pregnant, never got married, so TNCare paid for the birth and no cost pediatric care. Plus the daughter gets welfare. The mother taught the daughter well.
I have half a mind to write the SS people and tell them. But then I might get involved with something I really want no part of. I am fairly certain SS would mention my name and I have to live in this community.
Re Y2K:
The Orange, Person, and Chatham County Area Program (a regional mental health agency in North Carolina) had no problems with their December 13, 1999 payroll. Their mid-January payroll program cashed several times and did not run until it was eight or nine days late. The end of January payroll was also late. Their Data Processing Manager was fired; I was hired to replace him. The place was a disaster. Too many issues to list here. Payroll was fixed before I was hired by a third party at great expense.
When I tried to quietly get some illegal new “Customers” dropped, I was terminated, three days before my six-month probationary period ended. They did pay for three Novell Netware Classes for me while I was there.
I was working at my first real job over y2k. It was a computer training business, and we ran 2 proprietary applications that were not compatible. Patches were released a week before and I was applying them late Dec 30th and testing. Everything kept working on Jan 1. Both were dos based applications, btw. We ran them on win 95 and nt4 workstation clients. On a Netware 4 network. Fun times.
Finished our gift giving, had a nice dinner, and soon for an early bed…
It’s a bit chilly tonight. I wore long pants when we went out, but it’s not “arctic blast” cold. Yet.

Special Operations people have always been a bit “off”, but they’ve seemed to get worse the longer the “wars” continue.
The two freak show commands at MacDill need special attention from Trump when he returns to office.
It is the God given right of everyone who lives in that part of the country to wear shorts all year around but especially at Christmas.
An “arctic blast”. What? 50?
Every now and then, you will see a profile on some news program about the towns in W. VA where practically everyone is on SSDI and/or SSI.
SSI is pure welfare, paid from general tax revenues.
Social Security administers SSI but the Feds still play “lets pretend” that the payroll taxes are not used directly for the program.
My wife and daughter discovered Bill Miller’s Laguna Madre restaurants in the last couple of years.
I’m not a seafood fan, but they have passable chicken strips.
Those will be the problem in Y2038.
Around 2AM on the morning of the MLK Federal holiday that year is when the trouble starts.

You should apply to be on Jeopardy.

I remember you could tell the native Floridians – the ones wearing down parkas and gloves when it was 50.

@lynn, that’s the one I’m looking for – thanks.
“Landsman” is getting good reviews for its non-woke portrayal of the oilfields. Anybody seen it?
I received social security during college, because my dad died when I was 18. My mother took social security early, because she was too proud to go on welfare.
Still, I would have though that such cases were a tiny minority. Surely they cannot account for more than half of all recipients?
Aha… Here, at least, the disability folks do random checks to see how people on disability are actually living. It helps keep the rate of cheating down…
Anonymous tip? They might not take it seriously, but it could do no harm.
