Mon. Feb. 12, 2024 – another Monday, and another week starts…

By on February 12th, 2024 in culture, decline and fall, lakehouse, march to war

Cool. It was almost cold when I went to bed. Rainy and wet when I started my day at the BOL, clearing and normal wind patterns by mid afternoon when I headed home. Houston area was clear and crisp. So I figure today will be clear and crisp too. All together now… we’ll see.

Didn’t do a ton of stuff this trip to the BOL. Got the oven and stove unloaded, and loaded up a chest freezer. I was holding it for a neighbor up there, but he either changed his mind or can’t afford it. So I sold it here in Houston to one of my auction guy’s workers.

I did get a couple of small things done, one being a repair, one being to move some stuff around. The weather was getting to me so I called it an early day and drove home. I saw some evidence of powerful winds on the way, it even made the news. Giant piece of metal was on the side of the road on I-45. Looked like the whole roof from a metal building, all mangled up. In the background there were a half dozen power company trucks with crews working on power lines. Something blew that thing through the lines, either a tornado (which my wife had received a text alert was possible on her drive…) or “straight line winds.” That’s what they seem to say whenever the insurance doesn’t want to pay claims. Big bad wind, no matter what you call it if it ripped off a roof, balled it up, and threw it across the fields…

There are hazards no matter where you live.

I mentioned in the comments yesterday that I saw some motorcycle “club” activity along my route. Not thrilled about that, but better to know about it. Mutant biker zombies, oh my.

Today I’ll be running errands, shopping, doing pickups, having lunch, and who knows what sort of stuff will get done around the house. Ah, who am I kidding. I know for sure one of those things will happen. The others are on the list to pad it out so I feel like I’m getting stuff done.

Time feels pretty short for a couple of potential bad things coming this way. The political tides are turning, maybe into a whirlpool, or a tsunami. There could be another summer of rioting, or the wars could heat up. The confrontation at the border could go kinetic at any time. Or we could have a bad storm season. Take steps. Prep.

And stack.

Yesterday’s localized meat special at our HEB was top sirloin for $6.99/lb.

The local store struggles with Curbside demand overwhelming the crews’ ability to keep the store stocked.

If Texas gets through this week without a freak weather event and the long term forecast next Monday doesn’t have show anything significant through the end of the month, the “leadership” in Austin will return to the usual even year dormancy until after Super Tuesday.

I don’t have a reason to go downtown today, but I imagine core Austin is a ghost town.

Spent an hour this morning doing an emergency fish tank cleaning, a phrase that I had not expected ever to need. Bean sprouts were growing in the gravel. That’s not necessarily an emergency but the water was also slightly discolored and daughter was concerned that some soy sauce or something was in the water along with the sprouts or seeds.

Wife had a party over the weekend and the fish tank is in the dining room. Presumably one of the guests thought that it was a good idea to dump sprouts (and who knows what else) into the tank. You might think that that would be the kind of thing that you’d have to be a moron to do but, well… I’ve previously expressed my opinion of my wife’s friends.

It’s possible that Grandma did it, but she’s been here with the fish tank the whole time that she’s had brain rot and hadn’t done anything like that.

And I actually had other things that I needed to do this morning. Naturally.

Blacks in America now have their own “national anthem”. This suggests that they do not consider themselves to be Americans. Fine with me. Does this mean that White Americans (ie, Americans) can stop subsidizing their parasitic lifestyle?

For those who object to the word “parasitic”, look at statistics of per capita contribution to GDP, by race. Or look at per capita contribution to versus consumption of government money, by race. Or look at crime statistics, by race.

Heh. I’ll sometimes provide something for my wife’s or mother-in-law’s get-togethers or for the holiday parties for students that the Chinese college professor next door often holds for the foreign students who have no family here. Depends mainly on how recently my wife has annoyed me.

Almost every time my wife expresses appreciation that daughter and I cooked a ham or a turkey or four dozen cloverleaf rolls or a batch of cookies but almost every time she’ll point out that Chinese people don’t eat these things and I shouldn’t feel insulted if barely any is touched. And almost every time every crumb is devoured.

It was during of of these services yesterday that a person began opening fire at the church, which was actually recorded due to the Spanish-language service being televised at the time. Although initially identified as a man, many news outlets are now reporting that it was, in fact, a woman who was responsible for the shooting.”

“The confusion stems from the fact that the “woman” is really a deranged, Bernie Sanders-supporting tranny named Jeffery. This man walked into the church with a gun in one hand, a child in the other, and began opening fire, thankfully only hitting a single man in the leg. Jeffery himself was shot and killed by police, though the child that was with him was also shot and is currently in critical condition. The relationship between the child and the tranny, as well as where the bullet that hit the child came from, are both unknown at this time.”

One thing that struck me during the half-time show was that the overwhelming participants in show were non-white. Not only the primary performers, but the people on the floor that were dancing and moving around. Even the large band was all non-white. It appeared to me that 98% or more of the extras were non-white. Had the color ratio been reversed there would have been screams of racism from the usual leaches and losers. Was it intentional? Do whites need not apply?

I watched the game. I thought it was good. Some calls were puzzling almost as if they were designed to keep a predicted outcome. But I am not a coach so what do I know? There was way too much focus on Taylor Swift and her jerk of a boyfriend.

The half-time show was, ah, interesting. Some talented performers certainly. I could not understand one word from any of the singing. My ears are not that bad so I suspect the singing was intentionally done badly. Or maybe that is the norm nowadays. Regardless, the half-time show was definitely not my kind of music. When they said Usher was going to perform, I had no clue as to who, or what, he was.

Related to “Chinese people don’t eat that stuff”, above, a couple months ago my daughter’s school had a pot-luck party for the 7-12th graders on the last day before the Christmas break. Daughter and I discussed what she should bring. I suggested a big batch of chicken bites (breaded chunks of real meat, not pulverized beaks and claws or whatever chicken nuggets are made of) to give something more substantial than the baked sweets which it’s certain that almost everyone else will bring. She said, no, her classmates want cookies and donut holes. So we made some baked good the night before and arranged for me to drive it up and drop it off for the party. Which I did. I also brought a big tray of chicken bites, four pounds or whatever the bag was, cooked just before I left the house.

See if you can guess what the students devoured to the point that not even the smell remained, while leaving a fair amount of the cookies and the rest.

Generally true of Asians in general. Case in point? The durian, sometimes known as the “stinkfruit”. Smells like rotten garlic mixed with sewage. The rind is spiky and tough. Once you finally chop it open, the “fruit” inside tastes a little like custard, with a very mild garlic flavor. Once you get past the  stench, it actually tastes good.

‘We can sell up to a dozen ICE F-150s or other ICE profitable vehicles for every Lightning we sell,’ chief financial officer John Lawley told investors.

    And as previously noted,

Defense lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, claims to have an affidavit that Willis lied about when the relationship began — a critical fact in her defense against ethical allegations.

There is also the question of how his information was “non-privileged, personal knowledge.” If the affiant is suggesting that there were public displays or confirmation of this relationship, there could be other witnesses who could be called to give accounts.

The filing also suggests that there may have been other trips taken by the lawyers.

anything by Willis is worth a read, but here he uncovers scientific malpractice:

    Tipping Is Optional

I was greeted this morning by a CNN headline saying “Critical Atlantic Ocean current system is showing early signs of collapse, prompting warning from scientists“. YIKES! Be very afraid.

The CNN article opens by saying:

“A crucial system of ocean currents may already be on course to collapse, according to a new report, with alarming implications for sea level rise and global weather — leading temperatures to plunge dramatically in some regions and rise in others.”

Scary stuff, all right. It is referring to a study in Science magazine, Physics-based early warning signal shows that AMOC is on tipping course.

It’s the resurrection of another “tipping point” scare. And of course, despite the title, rather than being “physics-based” this study is actually “model-based”. It’s a study of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current (AMOC). Here’s what the AMOC looks like.

And what did they find? Well, they found that in the model year 1,758, which in our terms is the year 3782 AD, the AMOC fell off a cliff.

IMPENDING TIPPING POINT CATASTROPHE IN 3782 AD! EVERYONE PANIC!!!Now if you follow my work, you’ll know that I often ask the most impertinent questions.

So I got to thinking about something they neglected to mention … just how much modeled fresh water have they added?

To continue with the mathiness, when the tipping point occurred in 3782 AD, they were adding 0.527 Sverdrups (“Sv”) of fresh water (top scale, Figure 2). That means on average over the entire period up to the tipping point, they were adding half of that, 0.264 Sverdrups.

Now, a Sverdrup is a million cubic meters per second. So over the 1,758 model years from the start up to the tipping point, they’ve added a total of:

    0.264 Sv * 106 cubic meters per second/Sv * 1758 years * 31,556,926 seconds per year / 109 cubic meters per cubic kilometer =

14,629,305 cubic kilometers of modeled fresh water added.

Now, fourteen million cubic kilometers of water, that’s a very big number. So let’s compare it to something that’s also very big … say the total volume of water in the entire Greenland Ice Cap. Here’s that comparison.

    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2024/02/11/tipping-is-optional/

The comparison is a graph that shows that the volume of the Greenland ice cap is about 2.9 million cubic kilometers (confirmed by wikipedia)

So the amount of water added over the 1758 years of the model run was 5X the amount of water in the Greenland ice sheet.

Willis quits there, but I have to wonder: Did the model take into account when the ice was gone from Greenland, and switch to melting in Antarctica?

If I were writing the model I would certainly have it do that, and then as the ice cleared invoke subroutines announcing that Atlantis had melted out of the ice, an event presaged by the occasional emergence of alien spaceships from the ice of Greenland, as well as other lost objects like Jimmy Hoffa and Judge Crater.

Isn’t the Attorney General one of the “principlal members of the executive departments” mentioned in Section 4 of the 25th amendment?

The Budweiser Clydesdale commercial was good, not great.

Kurt Russell’s dog was the star. Lots of footage appeared around the Interwebz today of the family gathered to watch.

Don’t forget, Anheuser Busch is all about the family.

But if you don’t buy that, Modelo comes out of the next vat over at the InBev breweries.

I thought that this was a joke at first.

$7,000,000 to run during the Super Bowl.  I wonder how much it cost to make ?

Kennedy, the candidate, did NOT run that ad; he says that his PAC did, and the campaign is prohibited from coordinating with the PAC. And you can believe as much of that as you like.
