Fri. Apr. 14, 2023 – TGIF, sorta. Maybe.

Cool and clear, possibility of rain but clearing later.  So we’ll see what happens.  Yesterday was so nice I sat out for an hour and contemplated the world.    Sunny and clear, with light variable breezes, just beautiful.

Of course, I spent a fair amount of time indoors first.   I fell down a rabbit hole moving stuff to the attic, moving stuff IN the attic, looking in some boxes I haven’t looked at in a while in the attic, and generally messing around in the attic.   I also did some sorting and organizing.

Went outside, noticed that the pond pump was barely circulating the water.   Spent some time cleaning the filters, and scooping out a bunch of muck from the bottom of the pond.   Fish was happier afterwards.   The fountain makes a soothing sound, the weather was great, and the seating was comfortable.   So I spent a bit of time smelling roses, so to speak.

Then I noticed that the automatic fish feeder that wasn’t working was driven by a simple quartz clock.   THAT  led to some repair work that involved files, nippers, and combining 3 clock movements to get it going again.   Not high on the priority list, but a satisfying fix and one that my wife will actually appreciate every day since manually feeding the fish was her task.  Sometimes a distraction is exactly what is called for.

Today I have a bunch of things to pick up.   They are scattered around town, so I’ll have to make a big loop.   I’ll have time to do more cleaning here first as none of them open before 10 am, and I have to wait even longer than that because of who opens when, and what order for the pickups makes the most sense.  And since I’ll be in the neighborhood, I’ll try to stop at Microcenter.   I need some resin for the 3D printer, and they are giving out 128Gig flash drives.  The store is very inconveniently located because of the intersecting expressways, and how the offramps work.  The whole area is also under construction as they re-do how those roads all come together.  Not a fun area to drive in at the best of times.

The day will culminate in the kids’ play at school, which means I’ll be heading to the BOL Saturday morning, instead of Friday afternoon.   I’ve got to get up there this weekend both to deliver all the cr@p that is piled up in my living room, and to make sure we are ready for guests NEXT weekend.  Plus I get anxious when I haven’t been there in a while.

So much stuff to do, so many things to stack.   So not motivated for the last few weeks…

Stack it up, buttercup.  Hard times are here and getting worse.  Gotta bring your A game.

    Didn’t expect to be first!

    Slackers.

Cool and clear as the sun comes up.   Distant low clouds hint at the predicted rain later, but only hint…

    Beautiful morning at least.

I got up at 0300 (after working until almost 2200 and getting to bed around 2330) and got right to work, including consultation with someone in Belarus. Checked on the birds sometime after dawn and then got back to work. Not sure “slacker” applies.

I have no doubt that racism exists in the United States.

Thanks to the public school system “taken over by commies without firing a shot” and woke universities, only WHITEY! people are raycisss.

Right. IMHO there are more black raycisssts than WHITEY! ones in the FUSA. Try walking through the “black” sections of any large city at night while WHITEY!

They did have 128 GB for $12.99 though

I was up at 5:30 to get to the school by 6:00. A ballon release event at 7:00 for the former student (2022 graduate) that was killed in a 4-wheeler accident last Saturday.

    Pictures at: https://www.raymondthompsonphotography.com/Gehrts

He was a football player so many current students knew him. Several staff, former students, and family showed up. It was an entirely student led event. He was one of the better students and liked by everyone, including me.

    – it’s their email “we haven’t seen you in a while”  offer.   I get a regular email from them, daily or couple of times a week.    If you don’t go into the store, they’ll try to lure you in.    In my case, I only make the effort when there is a bribe involved.   Usually I just enter, go to the cashier and get the drive, leave.   But I need some resin, so I’ll at least walk thru and get that this time.

More information on the 4-wheeler incident. They were operating at night, which is not entirely uncommon at Windrock. Windrock is a huge privately owned property with 300+ miles of trails. From the easy to the extremely difficult. The fella that died was 18 so no requirement for a helmet. The operator who survived was 17 and was wearing a helmet which probably saved his life. He was still severely injured as the crash was a major event. I have also been informed that both of them were two sheets to the wind.

A combination of young (invincable) men, one with no helmet, at night, speeding in a 4-wheeler, on difficult trails and plastered. That is never a good combination. The guy that died was killed instantly due to massive head trauma.

  11. drwilliams says:

Prayers for the young man that survived.

Indeed. And some counseling. I cannot imagine how he must feel. I have not really heard much about him or his current condition. It would have to be difficult to realize he killed a friend. I fully expect some charges to be filed against the individual due to the drinking that was involved. Even without drinking involved I suspect that charges would be made against the operator because a fatality was involved.

And lawsuits galore, against the ATV dealer, ATV manufacturer, etc., basically anyone with deep pockets and/or liability insurance. And the lawyers will always win.

I have discovered that there is another tolling authority in Texas. The Central Texas Regional Mobile Authority. Only disable veterans with the plate registered in Texas are exempt from tolls. In other words, screw the visitors, which do not have tolling tag, cannot register a plate in Texas, and more than likely get on a toll road by mistake. I probably took one of the roads thinking it was a Texas toll road as the signs are confusing. The signs mostly display what tags are accepted; not what entity actually controls the road.

Man, I love that tailgate.  My F-150 4×4 tailgate is about ten feet high with my four inch lift kit.  A little exaggeration there.

$81,910 and it does not have running boards or the GM Super Cruise options.  Are you kidding me ?  And only a 24 gallon gas tank.  You will be looking for a gas station fairly quickly when towing anything with this truck.

Austin has a really crazy array of authorities owning the toll roads.

If you ever want to have some real fun, the next time you are in Cedar Park, try to go to the Best Buy or Target in Pflugerville without using a toll road.

If you got on 183 between I35 and the airport, good luck figuring out what part of the road is tolled and what isn’t. That mess is going to eventually extend all the way up to Burnet.

Amid the controversy about the Bud Light partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, executives at the company are reportedly panicking about how to do damage control despite not being informed of the campaign.

“despite not being informed of the campaign”

    Sure, groomer.

I don’t have a way to join the boycott other than skipping the couple of cases of Amber Bock that is an insignificant part of my yearly imbibulashuns. I tried the Ritas when they came out–meh. Over the years they have come out with some specialty brews that were interesting, but they charged too much of a premium and distribution was iffy.

So A-B’s Eurotrash masters can get my FOAD on general principles. With the lights going out on the German nukes this weekend, I hope they all tumble straight down the hill.

If you truly think that more than maybe 1% of straight men would be interested in dating a trans-woman – ie, a man – but just don’t want to admit it, you need to start hanging out with a different crowd.

  27. SteveF says:

IMHO there are more black raycisssts than WHITEY! ones in the FUSA. Try walking through the “black” sections of any large city at night while WHITEY!

As a percent of their population in the US, undoubtedly true. As enumerated racists, quite possibly true.

And don’t give me any crap about “internalized racism” and “unconscious bias”. If you need to change definitions to have any, then it’s ain’t real. (See also “vaccine”, but that’s another topic.)

Related: hate hoaxes in the US. Has there been a verified anti-black hate crime committed by a White in the past ten years? A verified anti-gay hate crime committed by a straight White American? A verified anti-woman hate crime committed by a straight White man? There’ve been plenty of hoaxes perpetrated by a member of the allegedly targeted group. There’ve been plenty of anti-White and anti-Oriental hate crimes committed by blacks. There’ve been some, don’t know how many, anti-black hate crimes committed by latins. There’ve been a large number of attacks by rioters on White men specifically because they were White men, but those could be viewed as motivated by perceived politics rather than race or sex so I don’t know if they should be counted.

  28. drwilliams says:

    Ace had a succinct perspective:

I say: Destroy them. Salt the earth were Bud Light stood as a warning to all the other woke corporations.

One of the ads showed Mulvaney in the bath sipping (allegedly) a can of BL with his photo on it. There are at least two stickers that could be made from this image.

One a straight up screenshot with a caption “Bud Light Drinker”. A million of these on gas pumps in the midwest should effectively kill the brand.

Two is the same shot with FJB photoshopped in, either in the tub or leaning over to do the hair sniff.

And don’t forget Nike. photoshop feet propped on the bathtub edge with pink Nike swooshes and a caption “Nike loves Bud Light” would be a double kill shot.

Note that I am treating this whole thing as a woke farce because that is exactly what it is. Mulvaney no more drinks Bud Light than he drinks boubon.

Put it this way: “Don’t piss in my face and call it rain.”

Yes. Mass shooters. A church and a grocery store, IIRC.

OTOH, the anti-white crimes committed by blacks get no publicity. Michelle Malkin wrote about a horrific one a few years ago that got no mention in the LSM. Young white couple abducted, tortured and raped (yeah, both of them).

There’ve been a large number of attacks by rioters on White men specifically because they were White men, but those could be viewed as motivated by perceived politics rather than race or sex so I don’t know if they should be counted.

Don’t treat them any differently. “Perceived politics” is anti-white racism–ain’t no black liberals getting attacked for wearing Obama hats.

Happened in Knoxville, Shannon and Christian. Attacked because they were white. A hate crime that the media desperately avoided stating such. Scum, racist thugs doing scum things. All got life sentences. Should have been drug for 12 miles behind a semi on I-40.

Of course the mothers of the thugs painted them as good people, give others the shirt off there back to someone in need, pillars of the community, turned back because of “the system”. Yes, the main surgery sometimes can be undone, but make sure you see a good selection of the “before / after / oops, I changed my mind” pictures.
