Thur. Dec. 5, 2019 – volunteer day today at school, and then pickups

By on December 5th, 2019 in Random Stuff

Chilly and damp.

I got some stuff done yesterday.

I blew leaves and cut the yard. LOTS of sycamore leaves and pine needles in the yard. It looks so much better when cut. I try to be a good neighbor and keep things looking nice.

I got a couple of things listed on ebay that got them out of the house. No hits on any of my craigslist yet. That’s super disappointing.

Didn’t get anything done on mom’s pc.

I’m doing the assistant gig today for the fifth grade classes. I have no idea what the kook is going to do as a unit today, but I hope he’s got something planned. I don’t want to have to pull something out of my backside.

I’ll be out and away for most of the day.

Talk amongst yourselves….

Perhaps he is counting on your ingenuity to make the class work today. Think of what the students are going through.

“Mr. Flandrey will be here today! What fun we are going to have!” They’ll even learn something because of it.

  2. Nick Flandrey says:

There are a couple of groups of kids who I have heard say “let’s sit at Mr. F’s table, he’ll make it fun!”

    Well, that was dumb.

I knew the dates had changed because of end of year activities, but I should have trusted my calendar. The sign up genius reminder was wrong. No science class today. That’s ok though, nothing lost. And I’m home and doing stuff that needs to be done.

US Navy Sailor shoots dead two civilian workers at Pearl Harbor military base before turning the gun on himself – sending the home of the Pacific Fleet into lockdown

The shooter has been identified as a U.S. Sailor, the military said Wednesday
They did not release a motive or any identifying information about the sailor
One eyewitness described seeing three people shot and a gunman ‘in uniform’
Emergency crews raced to the scene at around 2.30pm local time on Wednesday

Ray, commissary access might be delayed:

Only you know what kind of ID and eligibility you have. My first thought about your mention of a background check was that it might not be quite that simple, so I tried to look up some requirements. Hoo boy, there are so many, I gave up.

I probably don’t need to say this, but in general, if you qualify for any or multiple kinds of military or civilian retiree (actually, probably anyone currently receiving some sort of benefit) ID, get it. Some of these IDs get you access you might not otherwise easily get. The key word is easily. If you ever want to use a MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation) facility on a stateside base, having the proper ID in advance makes that easy. As you know, base access can be valuable in many ways.

In this day, ID can make life convenient. Since you were in the military, there is no additional risk in having any ID you can legitimately get. You are already on more lists than you or I might be comfortable with. You are marked for life. Oh, and thanks for your service. Yeah, that is becoming so common as to be reduced in value, but I really mean it.

–I’m to busy lazy to search it, but I’ve posted and commented several times that stacking up credentials while you can is a good investment.

    -any FFL
    -gunsmith (tools)
-locksmith (locksmith has tools, you have ‘burglary tools’ in your car)
    -any medical
-any ham (most states exempt hams from their ban on scanners in cars, again, burglary tools)
    -volunteer
–any official ham group, RACES, ARES, SATERN etc, with local .gov ID or shirts or car window stickers
–school (my volunteer sticker helped me to help out the day we were stranded there, and I could move thru the school while others couldn’t)
–PD or FD auxiliary or “helper” groups (like my CPA id- it’s official city id)
–CERT (my CERT ID is official County ID)

    -any vet or .mil
    -any LEO
    – any local .gov

I have said about CERT, if they are giving out vaccine, I would really like to be called to be the one handing it out…. after I get mine.

    USS Columbia (SSN-771):

Columbia was sponsored by Hillary Clinton, and commissioned on 9 October 1995, with Commander Dale Govan in command.

    If I were a superstitious person …

Seriously, though, aren’t submariners supposed to be the most thoroughly psychologically vetted members of all of the armed forces?

Rumors are floating on the innertubes that Cankles will get in the race as soon as Plugs drops out/dead. Probably because the Klinton Foundation slush found is running dry. Can’t waste $$ running against the field of Dumbocrat losers. It would be great to see tRump walk all over her again.

MrAtoz: my Trump 2020 t-shirt has the subtitle “Make liberals cry again”. Watching Her Shartness losing to Trump again would be very, very gratifying. Watching the libtards, SJWs, and NPCs (some category overlap may be observed) cry again would be gratifying beyond words. And shooting at the libtards, SJWs, and NPCs when they inevitably riot following the electoral loss would be beyond “beyond words”.

    Lynn: Well. That sucks.

Other rumors make Plugs a placeholder for Moochelle. The prospect of Immaculation 2.0, putting Obama back in the White House would allow her to get away with not going near a debate.

Cankles is more plausible, however, especially with Kamala Harris throwing in the towel, probably under orders from Willie Brown.

Um, I would like to see a few people get the vaccine first. And watch them for a week or two.

Unless it is John Ringo’s zombie virus. That is the case of get the vaccine and get it now.

If the Squad hasn’t brought home the pork expected of Congresscritters, they’ll be done in 2020. Our walking corpse Congressman demonstrated how to beat the Progs, defeating no less than “Doors” with a single TV spot which ran for about a week reminding voters about the pork he brings home.

I have a VA ID, service connected disability, Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). Thus I will be able to use the system as planned on January 1, 2020. The delay only affects other veterans with a regular VA ID card.

It is a federal issued ID. I use it when I vote and other places that require a federal ID. Really confuses the poll workers. “You can’t use that for ID.” “Yes I can, federally issued with a photograph.” [calls supervisor]. Supervisor: “I have not seen one before but it is acceptable.”. I like to yank their chains.

Next year, thanks to the RealID mandate, I’ll have a six month window between the date my current TX drivers license becomes void for air travel and the expiration of the license. I’m going to use my passport card. We’ll see if hilarity ensues.

I use my passport all the time to travel in the US. I have to use the real passport when traveling overseas.

    I am shocked

I have also been known to use the passport card when voting, another item the clueless poll workers don’t seem to recognize as a valid ID. I think the next voting I will use my actual passport and see what happens.
