Cold and clear, but damp. [41F and 95%RH]
It never did warm up yesterday, and it was dreary and overcast all day. It finally blew out late in the afternoon, but there were rain spatters all morning.
I hit one sale that had a ton of good stuff for my hobby and to flip.
I’ve had a couple of ebay sales and an offer yesterday, so maybe my sales drought is finally breaking. Touch wood.
Headed out to hand out with people in meatspace for a few hours and talk about stuff that isn’t politics or prepping. Then I’ve got errands to run and if there’s time, chores to do.
Radio silence most of the day though.
So don’t burn the place down while I’m out!

WeWork owned a … wave pool company?!?
Don’t worry folks. It is only your pensions and 401(k) plans in these Lotus Eater dream unicorns.
Unicorns and real estate in cities issuing maps of high human excrement locations.

From BH in yesterday’s Fort Bend Journal:
“Remember, it’s “I” before “E” except when your foreign neighbor Keith received eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.”
I packaged the pork loin today. Cut off the first rounded end and set it aside.
Sliced the rest about 3/4 inch thick to the other rounded end.
Rounded ends were seasoned and grilled. Two meals for sure, maybe three if I don’t snack. Like I won’t snack? Eleven packages of two “chops” to the freezer.
Thirteen meals for two people. Not bad for $17.90 and a little effort. For a bit of reference, the pre-sliced and sometimes pre-seasoned “boneless center cut pork loin” is half an inch think and sells for $3.99 or more a pound. Bulk is $1.89.

Why do I think that T-Rex’s don’t have a prohibition against peeing in the hot tub ?
From Brad yesterday:
Nope, count me out of that. If it were left up to me, the constraints on government scope, power, and authority to act would be much more tightly constrained. Case at hand, if he’s assaulted people while in prison, why wasn’t he charged and convicted of the (alleged) assaults and his sentence legitimately extended?
In a properly free society, a sizable fraction of the population would be armed. If this guy is truly unable to refrain from attacking people, someone in our notional free society would gun him down. The mad dogs and the criminals will certainly beat or kill some innocent people, but they’re doing that in our current system (and in yours) and seeing them shot dead in a bar or on the street would serve as a salutary warning to others who might be inclined to attack someone.
@Ray: No matter how much they provoke you, continue to resist the temptation:
Substitute teacher arrested over brutal beating she gave to student at Texas high school, and there’s video
The videos speak volumes.

“Obligatory ride sharing, less living space, more facility sharing, less ownership of goods, no car, far less privacy.”
“Lots of wood and recycled materials used for construction, more shared facilities, lower cost of residency, less use of electricity, no private car ownership and less private ownership of goods.”
Shoot, I always wanted to be a serf and live in a wooden hut with a dirt floor.
Nope, I just send the students to the office. If the student refuses to go I call the school resource officer and have the student removed.
I am very careful to never touch a student in any manner, no exceptions. I am make certain I am never alone with a student, especially a female student. Too many vindictive students and adult parents looking for a legal lottery win.
Mediumwave, did you see a video with audio, preferably letting us know what the student said? All I’ve seen are video only, no sound. Or was “speak volumes” metaphorical?
Ray, you might keep in mind something that’s served me well: No witness, no crime. Or rather, no surviving witness, no crime.
As with the billionaires who orate that we need to pay higher taxes, there’s nothing stopping you…

My grandfather grew up in north Texas in a single room wooden house with a loft for him and his six siblings. They did have a four ??? room wooden house but that burned down when he was a very young lad (he was born in 1910). So his dad built the one room cabin next to the house that burned down. According to my grandfather, the loft was incredibly cold in the winter time and hot in the summer time. No insulation and no electricity.
I will pass. I like living in a luxurious house with electric lights, gas heat, and air conditioning.
Oh yeah, and not having to get up at 5am to milk the cows.

Metaphorical. There doesn’t seem to be any sound associated with any of the videos linkable from the original article.
As far as speaking volumes, if the races were reversed, with a white teacher stomping a minority student on the neck, the story would’ve gone viral. As it is, it’s probably only due to the egregiousness of the beat-down that this story made the news at all.

I salute you for your continued good judgement and iron self-control. Just keep in mind that when under stress the reptilian part of your brain may react in ways that surprise you.
