Month: September 2018

Mon. Sept. 10, 2018 – a new week

75F and saturated again today. Forecast from NOAA has more rain in it. We’ll see, but I expect to get wet.

Re-read a couple of posts and days worth of comments last night and was filled with nostalgia. One was less than a year old. It’s shocking how much things can change during one year.

The other had me explaining my bona fides and urging me to write more. That was from 2015. It seems so far away now, and yet so short a time.

Lets start this new week with renewed vigor. The world to come will have winners and they should be US. The threats are numerous and varied, but the great thing about prepping is that being prepped for one thing usually covers you for many more.

Sun. Sept. 9, 2018 – not so bad!

80F and 86%RH at 9am.

And I don’t feel like hammered sh!te this morning. I’m sore, and stiff, but don’t feel hungover, so I must have managed my fluid intake better than usual…

Haven’t looked at the slab yet, but it looked great by flashlight last night.

More yard and house work today, after bacon and waffles.

Sat. Sept. 8, 2018 – late start

Kids and wife let me sleep.

80F and saturated outside. NOAA forecast has rain for us at some point today. Will it hold off long enough for me to pour concrete?????

I guess we’ll see.

Fri. Sept. 7, 2018 – see, gone already.

78F and 80%RH at 6am. Yesterday we even got a blue sky and fluffy clouds at the end of the day.

I really need to pour the slab for the gennie this weekend, so I hope our break from the rain holds.

Week went by in a flash.

Did get some work related stuff done. Might have a new gig…

Got some cleaning in my office done. Got some stuff around the house done, but not as much as needed.

No work on driveway pile, no work on gardens.

Ebola moved into a city of 1.4 million. It’s almost guaranteed to start spreading now.

3 planes with sick people on them detained upon landing…

45 days without leaving the house. Can you do it? And remain sane? Employed? How about the services that hold our world together? Can you keep working and stay home if school gets closed?

Not time to panic, but time to stock up.

What did you do to keep yourself and family safe and well if things go to he11?

Thur. Sept. 6, 2018 – blink and you’ll miss it

75F and saturated out…

Short week is short.

Gotta get some stuff DONE. Got a bunch of stuff in process, which means spread around the place, and I need to get some done and put back, or removed from the premises.

Forecast for more rain is putting a damper on my concrete pouring plans. And the garden work. Half my office is pulled apart and stacked in the hallway. Spouse is going nuts…

So I better get to it and start the day.

Wed. Sept. 5, 2018 – no storm for me…

77F and 90%RH, but the sun isn’t up yet….

So far, not seeing any effects from Gordon, at least none you’d notice. Fine with me, as we’ve got others forming up and pointed at us.

I note that the march to war continues, on foreign fronts and at home. The geopolitical realignment seems to be proceeding too. Currencies are collapsing. Ships and soldiers are being positioned and trained. Radicals are unseating incumbents. Incumbents almost NEVER lose.

The times they are a changin’…

Tues. Sept. 4, 2018 – short week, so work harder!

78F and wet this am….

Possible hurricane headed my way, at least a nasty storm. Lots of things can still happen this year, lots of weather.

Time to top up your preps! (Um, it’s always time, right?)

“It’s comin’ right for us!”

Sun. Sept. 2, 2018 – time to do some more work

80F at 8am.

Another day of household work ahead of me, if I don’t get rained out.

Being away for 10 days really set me back on dad to day stuff. You don’t realize until you skip it, how many little things you do.

Sat. Sept. 1, 2018 – sore, stiff, and old

830am and 80F with 80%RH

Probably should have had more water to drink yesterday. Didn’t seem like that much effort, but I was sweaty so I needed to drink. Hands are stiff like paddles, back is sore, and I’m feeling every muscle. Getting old sucks, and this situation is not sustainable. I need to get back to stretching and exercising.

As soon as the kids are fed, I need to unload the truck, head over to my secondary location, do some stuff there, while wife does some last minute cleanup at the rental. Oh, and I need to replace the porch light over there.

Then I can do all the things here!

It’s a good life if you don’t weaken……
