Almost 90F at 9am, so another typical summer day….

Let myself dehydrate, I’m feeling it today. And I’m about to spend another day doing it.

Better get to work drinking water.

69º and cloudy. Supposed to rain off & on all day. I’m at the 9-5 trying to fix a group policy thing that wouldn’t be an issue had I been listened to. Go figure.

This afternoon is another day at the amusement park with the kinder. Total cost this weekend is $40. Gotta love discount tickets. Much better than “plastic-building-block”-Land, that cost us $500 for the 5 of us. Never again will the name of a park drive the decisions. Local parks with good discounts are always a better deal.

    Great day everyone.

I worked on the eggo land in Cali. Weird sensibility. Very weird sense of humour.

The hackberry tree near the house has had a growth spurt, a good thing. I’ll get the ladder out in the morning. Just half an hour lopping off the branches I walk into made a large pile. The dogs think I’m crazy. They really like the a/c. 🙂

How about them Houston Astros !

Number one son and I had an interesting conversation Friday night. I was stating that I think that the USA will have a financial apocalypse in the next five to fifteen years. He disagreed.

My son thinks that Trump will nationalize the Federal Reserve when the Dollar dies. That will certainly change the game and will allow Trump to payoff any tbills with Dollars. I certainly had not considered that option.

But, my son then pointed out that that Congress will go wild with the spending with no consideration whatsoever to balanced budgets.

So how is that any different than business as usual for Congress?

Home. Need to unpack and return the borrowed items. Later. It’s stinking hot. 100F in the driveway, feels like 113 with 50%RH.

Drank a whole big bubba, but haven’t pee’d since this morning. Not good.

Here’s some food for thought, in an unremarkable article–

If We Are Splitting into Republican and Democrat Restaurants

If we are splitting into R and D restaurants, that’s it for the Union. If it gets that polarized in real life, we’re in serious, like get to shooting, trouble.

Laura Ingalls Wilder’s name removed from award over racism concerns

First they came for the DWEMs, next they came for the DWAFs …

Ironically, this will probably cause a run on Wilder’s books among the homeschoolers.

  9. Nick Flandrey says:

If there are any homeschoolers who don’t already have a full set…..

We’re well past that point already. The only limitation is the $1 Trillion number being somewhat taboo.

Nationalizing the Fed wouldn’t be necessary. In theory, Congress can authorize the Mint to produce $1 Trillion coins and place them on deposit with the Fed to work around any debt ceiling.

I’ve heard that trial balloon floated several times in the last few years. So what will the coins be made from? Moon rock?

    My thoughts exactly.

You ain’t seen nothing yet. Just wait until Medicare For All ™. We are going to double federal spending in one whack.

Alexa sucks ! Dad has eight of them around the house including my yellow bedroom. He has bought several wifi lights. You can go room to room and say “Alexa turn on lights”. Works about half the time. But I cannot get Alexa to turn off any lights at all.

  14. JimL says:

How about “Alexa, shut down the lights”?

    Or get the clapper.

  15. Nick Flandrey says:

Mess with Alexa and get the clap!

Doctors will “shrug” in the Ayn Rand sense of the word. Medicare isn’t adequate for anything without a supplement, and my wife is already fed up with being micromanaged by MBAs and ARNPs to essentially get paid the co-pay.

A preview of what will happen is the situation with my wife’s former office in SW WA State. After she left four years ago, the group couldn’t attract a real doctor to go there so the various experiments in replacing the expertise have included ARNPs, PAs, and even Fred Meyer (WA Kroger) pharmacists being authorized for a wider range of prescribing beyond lice shampoo — kinda dangerous withe regard to certain antibiotics and birth contrl.

Last I checked, the group bought a midwife practice in order to fill the primary care gaps as well as Ob/Gyn needs. The group also has a new “cluster” (ha — I won’t even go there) concept of grouping 4 nurses/PAs with a supervising doctor in an office that will see first deployment this summer.

My wife’s associate is still there, but she and her obnoxiously Prog husband did something ugly out in Fredericksburg (yes, as in Texas) about eight years ago, and I’ve always had the impression that they were hiding from the fallout. Nothing illegal, obviously, but immoral/unethical? Undoubtedly.

And the amusement park trip was rained out, after a fashion, as rain-outs don’t get you rain-checks. Seems the power was out and half the park was shut down. So we got rain checks. Free for the kinder, discounted for us. So we’ll be going again on Tuesday. Best part? It rained Sunday but is projected to be sunny all day on Tuesday.

And I get to take a half-vacation day on Tuesday. Lots of winning all around.

I have three WiFi lights on my Alexa (changed name to “computer”) that just work. I mainly stream music from Prime while I read.

And that fabulous politician, Maxine “Mad Max” Waters calling for more tRump admin people to be outright boycotted and harassed. WatAcountry!

    Game over, Man, gave over!

I have multiple Echo devices and a Phillip’s Hue to control lights. My mistake was have a location named ‘bedroom’ and one named ‘master bedroom’. Solved by rename in the second to just ‘master’. Simple location names work best.

If you don’t name your snooping devices “Big Brother”, you’re doing it wrong.
