I was hoping to be greeted by a post from Barbara or even RBT himself, but we’ll have to content ourselves with passing on our prayers and hopes for a speedy recovery.

The world is rapidly getting weirder, and you don’t want to miss it 🙂

Well Nov 2 marked the five year anniversary of my cardiac ‘incident’. I’m hoping Bob’s turns out as well as mine. Twelve hours after I went to ER due to pains down my left arm they had me in the cardiac cath lab and put a stent in, all of about 40 minutes to do. I was out by the next afternoon, less than 48 hours. Other than now taking drugs to keep the blood thin and bp and cholesterol low, no real problems. Good luck Bob.

Look at the situation in Saudi.

    Maybe a Supreme Court Justice?

My money is on the faux Pope. I don’t think it will be too long before the Vatican’s assassins perform their sacred duty.

How long did John Paul II’s predecessor last? 45 days before they offed him?

Cleaning house? or clearing the way for worse?

  7. brad says:

The Saudis? I find it actually amazing that the government even has the power to arrest such powerful people. However, I also expect it’s all about some internal power struggle.

There’s no reason to suppose that they are cleaning up their act. More likely they see the oil money running out in the next X years, and it’s time to play some positional chess.

On FNC just moments ago some talking head (Joe Concha) said there have been 377 mass shooting this year, more than one a day.

I cannot find true statistics to back that claim.

    No Kidding.
Just over the weekend we have Yemen staging a ballistic missile attack on Riad and the Saudi king imprisoning many of his relatives (and government leaders) in the Ritz on corruption charges.

  12. Nick Flandrey says:

    @dadcooks,

perhaps they meant to say “active shooters”? That comes close to one a day IIRC.

Note too that there are specific definitions to these terms, and many sources abuse or ignore that.

Just another day in the life:

“Senseless gun violence robbed me of a daughter and my granddaughter of a mother,’ her mother said. ”

Opps, sorry that should probably read “Senseless gangviolence robbed me of a daughter and my granddaughter of a mother,’ her mother said. ”

Or maybe “Murderous black men robbed me of a daughter and my granddaughter of a mother,’ her mother said. ”

Seems that some members of The Diversite’ ™ got mouthy after a night of drinking, and the end state of a culture that glorifies violence, combined with a lack of empathy and impulse control, resulted in one death and at least 3 injuries.

I’ve mentioned our problems with the manufacturer’s “smart” thermostat which was included in the overhaul of our AC system this summer. I have to blacklist the MAC address of the thermostat or it wreaks havoc on our WiFi.

I will have someone out to talk about replacing the thermostat with a Honeywell programmable as soon as the labor warranty is up on the AC installation. The company who did the install only offered me $60 credit on $400 (retail) worth of hardware to replace the thermostat.

Lesson learned. I’ll sell the thermostat/relay board on EBay and recoup some of my loss.

And there goes the reruns of STNG (Star Trek Next Generation). I’ll be passing on those now.

Don’t take it out on the producers of STNG. They essentially fired “Wesley” after Gene Roddenberry died.

Except for guest appearances on “Big Bang Theory”, being a gadfly has essentially been Wil Wheaton’s career for the better part of the last two decades.

OTOH, The LA Times did mention that the deceased was “straight outta’ Compton” which was all I needed to know.

Several months ago another party bus outta’ Compton came into my town and let them off at a 7 – 11 where they began to steal. Cops did run the bus down and arrested those that the clerk could identify.

You know, when I read Heinlein’s “I Will Fear No Evil”, I scoffed at a brain transplant of an old man into a young woman’s body and having a baby.
    https://www.amazon.com/I-Will-Fear-No-Evil/dp/0441359175/

    Well, no more scoffing.
    https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4839905/womb-transplant-men-can-have-babies/

And yes, we are living in Heinlein’s crazy years. He predicted this very well. But he predicted that Nehemiah Scudder would turn the USA into a religious dictatorship in 2012. Heinlein has been wrong, so far…

An anyone imagine Richard Prior doing his “if I don’t get no [kitty], I’ll just fcuk this couch” routine on a college campus today? Or ANY of his routines?

Somewhat geographically related: A thousand Swedes ran through the weeds, chased by one Norwegian.

  28. medium wave says:

In one small Minnesota town the Swedes didn’t think highly of the Norwegians’ intelligence, and the feeling was reciprocated by the Norwegians.

One Fourth of July the Swedes and the Norwegians found themselves lined up on opposite sides of the parade route.

The Swedes began tossing firecrackers at the Norwegians.

The Norwegians lit them and tossed them back.

    OFD Health Update Department:

Passed plenty of gas but no solids since last Wednesday’s carving; now trying that nasty white Liquid Plumber stuff. PT three times today; tough getting up and into the walker but once up I can shuffle 20-30 feet or so with two spotters. Pain meds still necessary but they could be causing constipation, too. Rehab destination still unknown.

Mrs. OFD and I hope Bob is doing better and can take over ASAP before all these Nazis take over the board; I’ve ordered Waffen-SS uniforms and gear meantime, to cover all my bases, though.

No more patience or toleration for haters of country and Christianity and my sex and race; they can all piss up a rope and await firing squad justice. At least one sibling feels likewise and we wonder when Normals patience will finally snap.

Good to hear from you sir. And yes, I take a Phillips stool softener daily to counteract the Rythmol long muscle deadener that I take for my heart tachycardia. Helps to grease the skids if you know what I mean.

Can you feel your feet ?

I figure that the Normals will revolt when the APC is parked at the end of the block and the blueshirt is bullhorning, “Bring out your guns, ammo, knives, acid, and glass bottles !”.

  31. SteveF says:

and we wonder when Normals patience will finally snap.

It occurs to me that a white Normal, tired of racism and unending physical and verbal attacks, could kidnap and murder any black or hispanic or middle-eastern person and spray-paint a message near the body “all niggers got to die” or “it’s ok to be white” or simply “Trump”. The media whores and the race whores would be all over the obvious racism but the Normals would just yawn. Almost 100% of racist incidents reported to have been perpetrated by whites turn out to be hoaxes, so why would anyone think this wasn’t, too?

  32. OFD says:

“Can you feel your feet ?”

Yup, always could; issue is mobility/motion with right leg and hip, weakness thereof. On the mend but it will take months.

“…when the APC is parked at the end of the block and the blueshirt is bullhorning…”

Yo, got to be a LOT sooner than that. Or we will be like unto the Warsaw Uprising vics, only far better armed and experienced.

“…so why would anyone think this wasn’t, too?”

Indeed. And like the Zed character in the DBD strip says, it’s not just “OK;” it’s friggin’ AWESOME! (to be white)

  33. Jenny says:

    @OFD
Prune juice, sir, but decline the second glass when proffered by the well meaning nurse.

I was hospitalized with lots of exciting internal injuries after a terrible car crash awhile back. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was moving. For days. Various drugs were attempted, locked up tight inside. After the second (small) glass of prune juice, all sorts of calamity broke loose.

It wasn’t pretty, and a fair amount of humiliation was involved, but got the job done.

  34. lynn says:

Every block in the USA would turn into the Warsaw Uprising. Cops and soldiers, the survivors, would go home quickly in the process to protect their families. The people at the top, those who did not flee, would be hung in public executions.

The Air Farce may have F’d Up, but the fault is the shooter.
    http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/11/06/texas-shooter-should-have-been-banned-from-buying-guns-heres-who-screwed-up/

The Texas massacre that unfolded on Sunday was perpetrated by a man who should not have been allowed to buy any guns, but a clerical error led to his being easily armed.

Why did he lose his right to buy guns?

Patrick Devin Kelley had a long list of violent incidents in his life, but one in particular should have prevented him from buying guns. In 2012 Kelley was convicted for domestic assault against his then-wife and her son.

Under U.S. law, his right to buy guns should have been taken away after that.

Why was he allowed to buy guns?

Kelley was armed with a rifle and two handguns that he himself had purchased when he attacked churchgoers at the Sutherland Springs Baptist Church.

Although Kelley should have been banned from buying guns, NPR’s Tom Bowman reported that the U.S. Air Force neglected to report the conviction on a national database.

At the time of the domestic assault, Kelley was a member of the Air Force, and he plead guilty in his court martial to assaulting his wife and “intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm” to her child.

What did the Air Force say about this?

“This was mishandled by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, where Kelley was serving when he was arrested,” Bowman reported.

“An investigation is now underway, and the Air Force is taking it very seriously, said the source.”

  41. ech says:

Yes and no. He asked to not be in the first two episodes of one season so he could do a movie in Europe. The producers said “No, you will be featured at the beginning of the season”. He turns down the film, reports for TNG filming and in the first two episodes, he didn’t do anything but act as a helmsman. He realized it was a power play by the producers. Called his agent and told him to get him off the show.

Except for guest appearances on “Big Bang Theory”, being a gadfly has essentially been Wil Wheaton’s career for the better part of the last two decades.

He’s done guest shots on other shows and had a continuing role in Eureka. He’s done a lot of voice work for animation and has a successful web series.

That said, his tweet was awful.
