11:16 – Kit stuff all day today. We checked in the components I’d ordered last week. Everything arrived safely, other than some stuff that was back-ordered. As usual, the stuff that was back-ordered were the things we were completely out of. Barbara’s building kit subassemblies at the moment, while I process kit orders.
I haven’t been commenting about the political crap going on, because thinking about it raises my blood pressure. I was going to comment that that POS Clinton appears to have locked up the nomination for the progs, but then I realized that the comparison would be unfair to pieces of shit everywhere. And just writing that, I feel my blood pressure going up, so I’ll refrain as much as possible from political commentary between now and the election.

They don’t run by default on my browser, and on most sites and especially new and unknown sites, I seldom see any reason to let them run. Well, I’ll grant that physically unattractive women skew prog because they have trouble attracting a man to fulfill the biological imperative, but the converse is not true. Physically attractive women scatter across the political map. Of course, much of what makes a woman physically attractive is her perceived fertility, which is why such a high percentage of women under 30 are physically attractive. But young people, including women, easily fall prey to the prog agenda because they’re too young to know any better.
Incidentally, Barbara and I attended our first meeting of the Alleghany County Rifle Association after dinner yesterday. Neither of us shot, but we met a dozen or so of the members, all of whom were friendly and welcoming.
One of the things I really like about living up here is that people can DO things. We had a short admin meeting, and one of the items was that a member who wasn’t at the meeting had offered to donate enough heavy steel pipe to replace the steel wire “gate” with a real swinging gate. All present voted in favor of building a real gate, and then various members started piping up, “I can haul my generator and welder out here and do the welding,” “I can build the bushing,” “I can bore the hole for the support post and set it in concrete,” etc. etc.
It’s nice to be around people who can actually do things.

I am a member of a sportsman club primarily for the use of the launching and dock facilities they provide. A small club with perhaps 250 members. For a couple of years I was president of the club. When works needs to be done there is generally someone within the club that can do the work, and will.
I gave up the president of the club because of an incident involving guns. Guns are allowed on club property. However, this member was shooting at a snake when there were other people around. I got called by the other people. Since there was a weapon involved I contacted the sheriff and asked him to accompany me to the facility. The sheriff did but kept his distance. I informed the member of the problem and asked him to not discharge his weapon on club property out of concern for the safety of others. He did.
But the next club meeting was firestorm and I was caught in the middle. The club is in the county thus discharging of weapons is legal. However, there is this little law that also puts the safety of others in context. Discharging on the club grounds, while others are around is not good and many expressed such an opinion. There were others that said they did not care.
My position was that the club needed to formalize and adopt a policy regarding the use of weapons on club property. Apparently some consider snakes extremely dangerous animals and must be eliminated at all costs. Others considered the safety of others as being the top priority. I was left in the middle. After a couple of hours of discussion, and me getting blasted for simply trying to be a moderator, I resigned in the middle of the meeting and walked out. I did not need that kind of stress.
Eventually the club settled on a policy that weapons were allowed (which is fine) but could not be discharged unless bodily was imminent. Still did not settle the question about whether a snake (which wants to avoid humans) is considered a threat. At this point I don’t care because I am not the president.
