I ordered a selection of Keystone tinned meats for us to try in regular meals to see if we want to include them our food storage. Spent a few hours tearing down and rebuilding our Get-Home-Bags. Put all fire starter bits in baggies and included basic personal hygiene kits. Enclosed the 2-Way radios in Mylar baggies on the vain hope that these may provide some EMP / CME protection. I have been researching my concern that keeping my firearms magazines fully loaded may harm spring tension. The consensus on the Internet seems to be MAYBE. There are plenty of examples of magazines being fully loaded for over 50 years that still functioned. Everyone seems to feel that the quality of the spring is the deciding factor. So I will buy top end magazines and keep them filled because I don’t want to be caught having to load up when the SHTF.
Well you knew it had to happen

“So I will buy top end magazines and keep them filled because I don’t want to be caught having to load up when the SHTF.”
Three wars, several cop jurisdictions, lotsa rifle mags; always had them filled to capacity and nary a problem as long as I kept them clean and free of any debris. IIRC, ex-SGM Kyle Lamb keeps his full, too, and he’s got a chit-ton more CQB experience than I ever had.
“Well you knew it had to happen…”
That just ain’t right. He is NOT a woman. Period. (yeah, if he was, he woulda been having periods, amirite?)
Back from med appointments at the VA Med Center down in beeyooteeful White River Junction, VT; residual TBI showed up via the screening but yours truly is doing all the right things for it, allegedly, and did the pulmonary test and lungs are operating today at 84%. That test sucked, literally.
In other nooz, a young guy with a Latino name was stopped by the cops in the big city up the road the other morning around 1 AM. No dope in the cah so they got a search warrant for body cavities and found, allegedly, 1,458 bags of smack. Either that’s a misprint (radio broadcast) or those were really tiny bags. How is such a thing possible? And speaking of dope; just now a noisy-ass black pickup truck blasted by here, parked across the street, and a young guy ran up the back stairs to the dope dealer’s crib. He went in for a minute, ran back down, and blasted on back outta here. My fellow ‘Nam vet, Andy, is across the street also, in his back yard, smoking a ciggie and watching the whole thing. We all know what’s going on but I don’t think anyone wants to drop a dime just yet as he does not appear to be selling shit to children and there haven’t been any spillover disturbances so far. We shall see.

“Another Climate Alarmist Admits Real Motive Behind Warming Scare”
http://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/another-climate-alarmist-admits-real-motive-behind-warming-scare/
“If they were honest, the climate alarmists would admit that they are not working feverishly to hold down global temperatures — they would acknowledge that they are instead consumed with the goal of holding down capitalism and establishing a global welfare state.”
Nooooo! Say it isn’t so!
“Nooooo! Say it isn’t so!”
It’s been patently obvious since the beginning to anyone with half a brain.
If they were really X, what would they be doing differently?
There’s that pesky SteveF playbook page again! Very annoying. But I approve!
WRT mags,
I can only comment from my experience, but –
I pulled a bunch of loaded G17 mags out after sitting in the drawer for 10 years, and every single round (winchester hydroshok) fired, and every mag fed. I ended up replacing springs in the PISTOL, as the slide wouldn’t lock back on empty, and I replaced the mag springs on general principles, but they all went bang.
One problem with my polymer G17 mags is swelling, which causes them to stick in the mag well instead of ejecting cleanly. This means you have to do the euro thing and strip them while reloading with your weak hand. Or flick your wrist. Not a big deal if you practice it, and I have the same problem with my shield, and it has metal mags.
I believe the G17 swelling is a known issue, and may not be caused by the long term storage fully loaded, but is just the nature of the beast. Regardless, I’ve got extras that aren’t loaded.
I haven’t had any issues with steel ak mags, loaded to 29 ’cause I can’t get the last one in.

I always load 30-round mags to 28 rounds and 20-round mags to 19 rounds, just on general principles. I use good mags, but of all the feed failures I’ve ever had, about 95% were on the first or second round in mags filled to nominal capacity.
My plastic Glock mags swell when full. Not very useful as you can’t load ’em. Or eject them. I have one metal mag, it’s fine. So I keep 6 hollows in the plastic mag for “storage” purposes. Heh, if I can’t get the bad guy with 6 from the Glock, I’m done anyway.
@OFD, are you ready for winter? I figure if NYC / B is 10 F then you will be -10 F.

I believe I’m a closeted Libertarian. I have evolved.
Does that mean I’m Gay?
Trump 2016! “‘Cause there are still *15* Libertarian candidates!”
I would NEVER use plastic mags.

“@OFD, are you ready for winter? I figure if NYC / B is 10 F then you will be -10 F.”
If it’s ten above down there in the tropics, yeah, it will be below zero here. Whatevuh. It ain’t like we never had snow and cold in April. And May. And I drove through a snow whiteout up here one time in June. (it was up in the Route 4 pass by Killington (ski resort)).
“Does that mean I’m Gay?”
You must not have got the memo. We’re all gay. Beethoven, Homer, Shakespeare, you, me, RBT, SteveF. Gay as hell. We just can’t or won’t admit it. We’re still closeted. We need to come out ASAP and get with the other 90% of the population that’s gay. At least that’s what spaceship aliens would figure if they came down and read our lefty VT rags and other media in this country nowadays; almost all of us are gay or tranny, the country is about 2/3 black, and only a tiny band of dangerously fanatic rayciss Christer gun nuts stands in the way of Nirvana.
Does it count that I’ve told my wife that she’s such a bad wife that she turned me gay? I thought I was joking (and attempting to embarrass her in front of her friend) but maybe it was subconsciously truer than I intended.
(Not that I believe in “the subconscious”, as commonly described. Protip: if a psychiatrist or other scientist makes up data to prove his theories, a) he’s not a scientist and b) his theories are most likely wrong.)
Yay! I’ll start growing my dreads ASAP!
And if the “scientist” is an opium addict who mostly treats women for “nerves” by prescribing coke and dope, and masturbating them (for their own good), while listening to them tell stories about their dreams, and then filling thousands of pages with the resulting pipe dream, well, you just might be a psychologist……

I had forgotten about the 45% motorcycle tariff that Reagan put on imported bikes. Looks like Trump has good precedent to throw a 35% import tariff on everything entering the USA:

“(Not that I believe in “the subconscious”, as commonly described.”
That sounds like more Freudian claptrap, yet another addled charlatan like Marx and Engels and many others from that era who have long been idols of the Left. Change one letter of his name and it spells “Fraud.”
“Yay! I’ll start growing my dreads ASAP!”
Pics or it isn’t happening! If you actually grow dreads, I’ll do likewise here and I’ve already got a good head start, get it? Hahahah…
And just when he was starting to do better with women, he steps into the bear trap:
“Trump WALKS BACK his proposal that Americans who have abortions should face ‘some form of punishment’ saying that it’s the DOCTORS he wants to see jailed, not pregnant women”
nick
And just when he was starting to do better with women, he steps into the bear trap:
Yup, Trump needs to stay away from social issues. He needs to keep on insulting the PC crowd and throwing out imprecise generalisms. And keep on asking the crowds who is going to pay for the wall. And keep on insulting muslims.
here’s a little motivation for y’all to get the gear out and practice!

Trump may just be a planned sideshow while the Repubs gin up somebody else to lose against Cankles. We shall see.
“…a little motivation for y’all to get the gear out and practice!”
Yes. Practice makes perfect. Because meatspace.
Shame about all the canned goods being dumped, too; and boy, I’d like to have grabbed that NV scope.

Transsexuals competing in women’s sports? That is wrong, simply because of biology. Humans with XY chromosomes are stronger and have a more efficient skeletal structure, as well as a higher cardiovascular capacity. These things matter in sports. Even in golf.
Women’s sports (where by women I mean XX-chromosomes) are, in fact, a restricted competitive field, simply because anyone with XY chromosomes has an inbuilt advantage. An XY transsexual competing against genetic women is cheating, plain and simple.
Not so, Brad. I have it on good authority that women are the equal of men in everything, that anything men can do, women can do better. Segregated sports is discrimination, pure and simple.
I want to see women in the NFL then.
I want to see women in the NFL then.
They would make the NFL change the rules. No hitting below the waist, no hitting when their not looking, no swearing in the line, all uniforms must be designed by top fashion models, high heels optional.
But which tees will he use?
http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/caitlyn-jenner-holes-out-eagle-first-hole-ana-pro-am/
well there’s my answer. Enough of that.
But which tees will he use?
The one between the men’s and women’s. Duh.
Remember Renée Richards playing on the women’s tennis tour in the late 70’s at age 40+. IIRC, he was actually a finalist in one pro event. That’s saying something, considering he wasn’t much of a tennis player back when he still had his dangly bits.
In the mid-70’s, my brother played Chris Evert, and blew her off the court. Evert routinely practiced with the Ft. Lauderdale high school boys’ tennis team, who also routinely beat her.
There wouldn’t *be* a women’s pro tennis tour if they allowed people with Y chromosomes to compete. There are probably at least 100,000 guys who could beat any woman. Biology is so unfair.
“Yay! I’ll start growing my dreads ASAP!”
No can do, I am balder than a cue ball.
And I’ll stick with the man Tees, thank you.
Oh wait, does that make me gay?
When Son#1 was in 5th grade, he confidentially assured me that he never wanted to have a girlfriend because all of his friends would call him gay. There was so much wrong with that statement that I couldn’t figure out the best response.

I’d settle for beach volleyball.

We HAVE womens’ beach volleyball already!
Sorta related: the first page of the local rag’s sports section today (sports are Yuuuuuge up here, esp. high skool-level) featured a pick of a UConn woman b-ball player standing next to her head coach and towering over him by a foot.
