Forgot to mention that I made the wife go with me to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie last Sunday. Was very, very good, almost excellent. Nice review:

I do not remember reading this comic book back in my younger days though. I did like the 1960s references such as Star Lord calling Rocket, Ranger Rick. My paternal grandmother had a subscription of Ranger Rick that I read back then.

The wife mentioned that she liked the music mix tapes a lot. 60s and early 70s music.

The wife has discovered “Hell on Wheels” and is binge watching it. I can take it or leave it. The girl with the facial tattoos is freaking me out a little bit. And so is the Swede, I would have shot him rather than tar and feathered him. In fact, the tarring was not very effective as I envision more of a dunking process.

I watched the first coupla seasons of “Hell on Wheels,” it was OK; will probably continue. Won’t spoil anything for ya.

Off in an hour to the second interview for this Windows gig in the mountains.

Spoiler: Baroness von Trapp looked nothing like Julie Andrews. And Christopher Plummer referred to the movie as “The Sound of Mucus.”

Season one was pretty good. Season two sucked. Season three was better than two, if only because of the lesbian journalist who becomes the female lead.

    Ooooooo…..lesbians! Dominating, too….ooooooo!

Now I gotta watch Season Three.

    Who is the lesbian journalist?

I think that the wife is at the end of the second season. One of the foremen just drove a locomotive across a rickety bridge that they just built. And the Swede is running around in white paint calling himself “the great white spirit”. I am not sure that dude really needed the white paint.

    I loved it!

    “They got my dick message!”

I’ve got to go see GOTG again because I obviously missed that and a few other parts. “We are Groot” was cool.

Just saw that Nathan Fillian did a cameo in GOTG as the tough guy who got his butt kicked by Groot in the space prison. Liked that, I did.

The Swede started out OK as an upright squarehead law enforcement type but as time passes, he loses it, more and more, until….

A friend told me that the cameo is more than that. The character he plays is important in that section of the Marvel Universe. I guess they’ll work around his schedule on Castle, which is a pretty good show.

Apropos of nothing except some fantastic engineering (and pretty scary) – have y’all seen this: Researchers reconstruct human speech by recording a potato chip bag. It includes demos where you can hear what they manage to reproduce. At the end, they manage to pull this off with consumer-grade video instead of fancy equipment.

Of course, Kodak is now out of business, but I managed to get their Android cell-phone-sized competitor to the infamous Flip camera, the Zi series. That thing produces better video than our $85,000 Philips (Norelco in the US) PC-70/80 series TV studio cameras from the ’70’s/80’s. (Hmm, just noticing that PC-70/80 matches the date era. Wonder if that was on purpose?)

Consumer grade stuff is now superior to what pro-quality was 40 years ago.
