09:25 – As of this morning, our April 2013 unit sales and revenue are already at 67% of total April 2012 numbers. That makes me nervous, because about 85% of April 2012 sales occurred in the second half of the month, leading into May, when the serious ramp-up started. Extending that out tells me that our ready-to-ship inventory may not be sufficient to last the month.
So I’m madly building more kits, less the parts that I don’t have. For now, that’s 50 mL and 100 mL polypropylene beakers, of which I have 600 each on order, and the thick cavity slides, of which I have 200 dozen on order. Building partial kits is dangerous, because in the past a boxed-up kit was always ready-to-ship. I’ll have to be very careful to label the stacks of semi-complete kits “Missing Beakers” or whatever to make sure that we don’t accidentally ship incomplete kits because we mistook them for finished kits.
Ping Dave B!
I have an Arms Warrior on Saurfang who is just hopeless in battle;
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/saurfang/Kabrin/simple
Against even con NPCs she often has to run away to avoid getting killed, and takes forever to bring stuff down when she can. Just about all my other characters are better in battle. I thought Warriors were supposed to be tough.
Can you give any suggestions? Can I somehow equip a shield?
If you’re going to use post-its or something else that can be removed, I suggest labeling the complete kits rather than the partial kits. If a label falls off, it would be a nuisance to open up and double-check a completed kit to find out that it’s complete, but less of a nuisance than shipping a partial box because its sticker fell off.
How much do the boxes’ weight vary? If you had two chemistry kits, one missing the beaker, could you identify it because it weighed (massed) 150g less?
I haven’t played my Warrior in ages, so I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. Your gear looks OK. I wonder if there’s a better combination of attacks than what you’re using right now.
Using a shield would require that you switch to a one handed weapon, which would cut your DPS. The only time you’d want to use a shield on a warrior is if you’re tanking in a dungeon. I don’t know whether you want to use one two handed weapon or two one handed weapons, but I’m pretty sure you don’t want a shield.
I’m not going to label every kit. I’ll segregate them and label the group.
Yes, the mass is pretty consistent, and I already weight kits at ship time.
“Interesting article in the paper this morning about the costs of various diseases. Dementia, including Alzheimer’s,…..”
And just now on CNN’s Headline News Channel: “…Alzheimer’s epidemic…”
Is the word epidemic now expanded to include non-infectious diseases?
In common usage anyway. Have you not heard of the obesity epidemic?
…and the mass shootings epidemic.
And the epidemic epidemic.
There’s the stupidity epidemic, though stupidity might actually be contagious.
Related to the stupidity epidemic is the Free Lunch Epidemic, where half the country believes it is entitled to anything it wants so long as someone else pays for it. Also apparently contagious.
While “public health” departments are dealing with these epidemics which are not caused by pathogens, diseases like tuberculosis are increasingly becoming drug resistant.
Yet another illustration of how the State generally does the wrong thing, often the exact opposite of what it should be doing; and turns to shit everything it touches.
As in public mis-education, where kids learn all about self-esteem and the goddesses Democracy and Diversity but can’t read or write and know nothing of history before the year they happened to be spawned.
Or warfare, and here the examples are countless and too often beggar belief.
But speaking of public health; I just read where poison ivy is now growing much larger and is more poisonous than ever, which is put down, of course, to globalclimatewarmingchange. I remember getting that a few times as a kid and it was maddening, with the “cure” as bad as the symptoms in our case, calamine lotion.
I’m not allergic to poison ivy. Used to go on Boy Scout hikes in the woods, and everybody had poison ivy or poison oak the next day, except me.
On the other hand, I’m allergic to that very useful drug, penicillin.
Don’t bet on it. You may have been exposed to poison ivy many times with no effect, but the next time the results could be very bad. I’ve known several people who thought they were immune until one day they weren’t, including one guy who’d thought nothing of handling it from the time he was a kid until one day it bit him. He was around 60 years old at the time.
That’s the thing about allergens. No one is affected by them on the first exposure. It takes an indefinite number of exposures before you’re sensitized to the allergen. Sometimes, one is enough to sensitize you. Other times, it may take hundreds of exposures before an allergic reaction occurs.
Here’s a good one where the Obama administration is telling rich people how much they can save in an IRA for retirement:
http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/domestic-taxes/292071-obama-budget-to-target-wealthy-iras
Just how much “is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.” And why should the gummint tell you how much is reasonable. Didn’t Obummer make the comment about “making enough” once before. I guess there will be no rich other than himself and the designated libs of his choice.

No joke, I am now allergic to uncooked milk. If I drink about two ounces of uncooked milk, I will have projectile vomiting about 20 to 30 minutes later. The vomiting is about 10 to 12 times. Took me about four sessions to identify the culprit. Started happening about 1.5 years ago. If the milk is cooked in pancakes or french toast, I am just fine although I did upchuck my last piece of cheesecake.
I can drink soy milk just fine (Soynog, yes!). Almond milk, no way as I have been allergic to almonds for about 20 years now. I am also allergic to penicillin and Keflex. I figure that I will die in the Great Avian / Spanish / Cause TBD flu outbreak in 20XX.
We also discovered that one can get a nice case of poison ivy/oak/sumac from its smoke as it’s being burned, either deliberately or in a brush fire. I haven’t had any of that stuff since I was a kid, but I did get my left ring finger punctured by some kind of thorn in the meadow behind our last place and it generated a sizable blister-type thing that would not go away and had to be surgically removed. They’d seen this sorta thing on dogs before but not often with humans, I gather. Man, when they stuck that pipeline-sized anesthetic needle into my palm, twice, I thought I was gonna come off the chair and my face must have turned bright red and felt red-hot as I attempted to stifle any sign of pain on my paht. Holy shit, that hurt. Then within seconds they’d sliced the bugger right off and put in stitches, which the doc took out a few weeks later with NO anesthetic. Also felt great.
From MrAtoz’s link:
“… substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.”
I see. A gray eminence in a suit somewhere decides what the words “substantially more” and “reasonable” mean. These fuckers have no shame at all. The rest of us will be put on rations across the board while the high and mighty do whatever they like; they have another think coming. And sooner than they think. There are already millions of very pissed-off people out here; I hear stuff daily, if not hourly now.

Don’t worry, the Federal seizure of all IRA and 401K accounts is coming in the next couple of years. The funds will be “invested” for us and we will get a social security bonus payment. At that is what happened in Greece, Argentina, … Any surplus will be given to the more deserving of all of us. Or spent on another Obama vacation, take your pick.
blockquoteHere’s a good one where the Obama administration is telling rich people how much they can save in an IRA for retirement.
Another Democratic proposal that targets the rich but will wind up hitting the (upper) middle class. Plus I’d be surprised if the proposal isn’t based on unrealistically low life expectancy and unrealistically high return on investment assumptions.
Traditionaly IRAs already have minimal annual withdrawal requirements starting at age 70.5.
The key to playing a warrior is making sure you generate as much rage as possible.
1. Always use Battle Shout unless you have a better attack power buff.
2. Your first move in a fight should always be to Charge.

“Related to the stupidity epidemic is the Free Lunch Epidemic, where half the country believes it is entitled to anything it wants so long as someone else pays for it. Also apparently contagious.”
10-4 on the Free Lunch Epidemic, just got back from my first hand observation. Friday afternoons I help my daughter with her second grade class, 100% Hispanic. They don’t even ask the parents to apply with paper form completion and all the notices that do go home are in both languages.
Need I note that all the parents have cellphones? Another bar-lifter on the definition of poverty level.
Regarding my onset of Alzheimer’s, I rolled 74 last December. 🙂

I generally remove my own stitches. No need to pay a doctor.

You ain’t never had that stuff on your privates. That is interesting to say the least. On the farm I grew up on one section of our irrigation pipe ran through an unimproved area. I was careful to avoid plants in that area. But apparently some rubbed off on the aluminum irrigation pipes. Then being on the farm nature called and I naturally relieved myself with a comforting scratch to readjust the hardware.
The next day my scrotum would put any of the scrotums on our full grown bulls to shame. I would have been proud and bragged but the itching was miserable. Not to mention uncomfortable with a change required in the normal work clothes that were too tight because that was the style in the ’60’s.
We also discovered that one can get a nice case of poison ivy/oak/sumac from its smoke as it’s being burned
That happened to a neighbor who cleared some land with his dozer and then burned the brush pile. He wound up in the hospital for 3 days for treatment as his airways were being restricted. After the hospital he was in bed for a week with some strong medicine. I got the task of taking care of his place while he was incapacitated. Of course I was paid the dynamite rate of $1.50 an hour.

Well, I don’t go walking in the woods with Boy Scouts anymore, so hopefully I’ll be spared.
Miles:
Some of your gear is wrong:
– you have no helm (the green iron helm goes for about 35 gold on my server), or neck, or rings (look for solid bronze ring or ring of silver might (couple of gold each)
– your back has int on it.
– your shoulders are leather, not mail, and have no stats
– your chest has int on it, not strength.
– your hands have spirit on them, not strength
You wear mail until level 40, plate after that. Nothing else.
Also, you only have one profession, blacksmithing. You need to add mining ASAP, so you have a source of ore. Also, you can make some money selling metal bars, ore, and gems that you find. You might consider dropping blacksmithing until you hit 90, as there is a new method of leveling it that is much smoother, they say. If you drop blacksmithing, add another gathering profession like herbalism or skinning, then drop it at lvl 90 and powerlevel blacksmithing.
Go to WoW Insider and read the warrior column written by Mike Rossi. Really good.
Here is a series he wrote on leveling a warrior:

“Well, I don’t go walking in the woods with Boy Scouts anymore…”
Probably a good call, on several levels.
I never made it beyond the Tenderfoot rank; we kept moving around when I was a kid and it was hahd enuff adjusting to each new publik skool.
Hah. I was ejected from the Cub Scouts at my first meeting for being an atheist. Seriously.
Thanks Dave and ech, I’ll do some reading. I basically don’t buy stuff, I just use what drops I can and sell the rest. I’ve never used the Auction House. And I solo 99.99% of the time. Occasionally a guildmate takes me along to clear a dungeon full of critters that would kill me instantly. It’s not really power-leveling as I was used to in City of Heroes, but I get some nice drops.
“Hah. I was ejected from the Cub Scouts at my first meeting for being an atheist. Seriously.”
Nowadays you’d sue and probably get a few mil.
I recently created a Tauren Hunter to do something different for a change. Since he’s Horde, my Alliance toons can’t send him anything. So I made him a skinner/leatherworker. He has much better armor than the friends I play with, and I have made a little bit of gold selling extra leather and armor in the Auction House. I’ve used this to pick up a few bargains in the Auction House.
When I was playing City of Heroes I learned to make Level 5o Enhancements that earned me some pocket money. The trouble was other players were making them to and selling them cheap on CoH’s equivalent of the Auction House just for the badges that could be earned. So eventually I scaled back on this and just started flipping Enhancements – buying cheap when the badge hunters were selling and selling them back when they weren’t. I also just farmed “The Wall” in Cimerora, back and forth for hours on end machine gunning the Cimemorian Traitors there for Purple Recipe drops that were valuable to sell or useful to craft and slot. I spent many happy hours doing that. Now it’s gone because although the game was profitable it wasn’t profitable enough. I wish they’d sold or open sourced the game.
Damn their greedy souls.
